Difficult Qualifying For San Carlo Honda Gresini
25 October 2008
Team San Carlo Honda Gresini contested the final qualifying practice session of the season today at the Grand Prix of Valencia. Shinya Nakano and Alex De Angelis qualified in fifteenth and sixteenth position respectively, positions that are well below their expectations after another positive weekend in free practice, with the Japanese rider lapping second fastest this morning. Nakano’s qualifying attempt was spoiled by a crash on his second soft tyre, and although he escaped unhurt and was able to return to the track on his second bike, Shinya was unable to make major improvements on his lap time.

Weather Affects San Carlo Honda Gresini at Valencia
24 October 2008
Team San Carlo Honda Gresini are back in Europe this weekend for the final round of the MotoGP World Championship at Valencia. After the heat and humidity of Malaysia one week ago, Shinya Nakano and Alex De Angelis could not have encountered more different conditions today, as rain and low temperatures made for tricky track conditions in free practice. Nakano tried a variety of different tyres as he tried to establish a feeling with his bike in these conditions, gathering plenty of useful information for his technicians to work on. De Angelis also worked to gather set-up data that he will work on, together with his technicians, with the aim of improving his pace tomorrow.

San Carlo Honda Gresini Head to Spain for 08 Finale
23 October 2008
Team San Carlo Honda Gresini head for the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia this week for the final round of the MotoGP World Championship. Just one week after racing in Malaysia, Alex De Angelis and Shinya Nakano return to Europe to tackle one of the smallest and tightest tracks on the calendar. Both the San Marino and Japanese riders have won at the Spanish track in the 250cc class, in 2006 and 2000 respectively. The race is important not just to sign off from the season in positive fashion but also because on the day following the race Gresini Racing’s preparations for 2009 will already begin, with the first test of the off-season set to take place on the 27th and 28th October.

Nakano Takes Fantastic Fifth at Phillip Island
06 October 2008
Shinya Nakano produced one of his best performances of the season as he rode to fifth place in the Australian Grand Prix today at Phillip Island. The Team San Carlo Honda Gresini rider spent the whole race embroiled in a four-way battle for a place just outside the podium, eventually coming through to take a top five finish with a daring move on the last lap. Alex De Angelis didn’t get the chance to fight for a top finish today, the San Marino rider crashing out on the first lap.

Wet Setback for Team San Carlo Honda Gresini
04 October 2008
Team San Carlo Honda Gresini began their preparations for Sunday’s Australian Grand Prix at Phillip Island today, although a wet afternoon proved to be a familiar and unwelcome hindrance. Following a dry opening session in which both riders established a good feeling with their machines, set-up work was severely set back in the afternoon after a heavy and consistent downpour. Despite crashing in the slippery conditions, Alex De Angelis remains confident that his positive work in the dry can prove decisive as he looks to recover his feeling with the bike after a difficult Grand Prix of Japan last weekend.

San Carlo Honda Gresini Target Phillip Island Revival
02 October 2008
Team San Carlo Honda Gresini have travelled direct from Japan to Phillip Island this week for the Australian Grand Prix, the sixteenth round of eighteen in the MotoGP World Championship 2008. From the stop & go layout of Motegi the contrast in circuits could not be bigger as this weekend the riders tackle some of the fastest and most spectacular corners in the world. It is a circuit that has always brought out the best in Alex De Angelis, who has fought for victory here on countless occasions in the smaller classes, whilst Shinya Nakano hopes it can bring out the best in his evolution version Honda RC212V 2009 satellite machine. The Japanese rider rediscovered his feeling with the bike at his home race and is now targeting a top result.

San Carlo Gresini Ready for Factory's Home Race
23 September 2008
Team San Carlo Honda Gresini, Honda’s leading satellite MotoGP team, tackle one of the most important events of the season this weekend as the series heads to Motegi for the Grand Prix of Japan. For the Italian outfit lead by Fausto Gresini it represents a third home race of the season, following Mugello and Misano. Not only is the machinery Japanese but also one of the riders Shinya Nakano – as well as the Bridgestone tyres and Nissin brakes. Nakano, whose best result of the season so far is a fourth place finish at Brno, is targeting a return to the podium after disappointing performances in the last two races. For Alex De Angelis the target is to continue his education and progress at a circuit where he enjoyed some of his best performances in the 250cc class.

Rough Ride for Honda Gresini at Laguna
21 July 2008
Team San Carlo Honda Gresini head into the summer break hoping to put another unfortunate Grand Prix out of their minds, with both Shinya Nakano and Alex de Angelis riding bravely to the points at Laguna Seca today but with their true potential certainly not reflected by 10th and 13th place finishes. It was always going to be a tough USGP for the pair after crashes in qualifying limited them to lowly grid positions, but in particular for De Angelis, who was riding with the added inconvenience of a broken thumb. The rookie rider put on a courageous display to finish in the points, whilst a potential top eight finish for Nakano was spoiled by a mid-race mistake.

De Angelis Learns Quickly Under Qatar Night Sky
29 February 2008
San Carlo Gresini Honda rider Alex De Angelis was one of the quick to learn brigade. The young Sanmarinese had tested at the circuit in November and was impressed with the improvements made in the meantime. The San Carlo Gresini Honda squad continued their solid pre-season progress with both riders setting consistent fast times all day while testing tyres for supplier Bridgestone. MotoGP debutante De Angelis has been a revelation aboard the big 800cc RC212V four-stroke so far this winter. The young Sanmarinese was holding second place on the time sheets at one point eventually ending the day with eighth fastest time. De Angelis’ team-mate, Japanese star Shinya Nakano has found a spiritual home at Gresini Honda and his lap times reflect the progress he has made by switching to the vastly experienced San Carlo sponsored team. Nakano ended his day four-tenths of a second behind De Angelis.

Dutch TT - Honda Men Hit Form as Season Reaches Halfway
30 June 2007
After such a spirited performance in last weekend's British Grand Prix, both Repsol Honda riders are ready to make sure they build on the speed shown at Donington Park and the pair approach Assen buoyed by those recent rides. Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda RC212V) finished eighth and Nicky Hayden (Repsol Honda RC212V) crashed, pitted and rejoined for a finish at Donington. Dani led in the wet conditions before his tyre choice proved incorrect and Nicky was fighting at the front before he fell. Strange as it may sound, it was an encouraging weekend because these riders were getting back to their best after a difficult start to the season.
