JiR Team Scot Head to Sachsenring Aiming for Prestigious Results
Yesterday
After a one week break following the British and Dutch GP ‘double header’ last month, the 2008 MotoGP season resumes at the Sachsenring. The German event will provide the stage for the tenth round of the championship. The circuit winds its way through the edge of a forest, where the riders face a series of tight corners, with a series of seven left-handers, before opening the throttle on the short straight. The JiR Team Scot squad looks to gain significant results in both categories. Andrea Dovizioso, riding the Honda RC212V, has returned from three positive races in which he obtained fourth and two fifth-place finishes and he wants to improve still further. Meanwhile Yuki Takahashi has a good feeling with the German track, as back in 2006 he took one of his two victories of the season at the track and now he wants to repeat that feat this weekend.

Dovizioso Comes Home a Competitive Fifth at Assen
30 June 2008
The Grand Prix of the Netherlands in which Andrea Dovizioso finished in fifth position, confirms the positive trend that JiR Team Scot has maintained during the last three races. After two days of practice, which was disturbed by rain and unstable weather conditions, the ninth round of the MotoGP championship saw Andrea Dovizioso make a good start as the lights went out, taking fifth place on the first lap. Then followed a good fight with Chris Vermeulen, where Andrea passed the Suzuki rider as the duo were caught by Yamaha’s Colin Edwards, with Edwards eventually passing the JiR Team Scot rider. With a fourth and two fifth place finishes, Andrea and JiR Team Scot are showing that they can battle at the front of the pack, ahead of teams with equal technical equipment.

Dovizioso Takes a Fighting Fifth at Donington
24 June 2008
After a weekend of very differing weather conditions at the eighth round of the MotoGP World Championship, today Donington Park was finally kissed by sunshine. Thankfully, stable weather conditions blessed the MotoGP race, which saw Andrea Dovizioso on his Honda RC212V finish in fifth position for JiR Team Scot after a very strong race. Starting from the second row of the grid in sixth position, Andrea was able to stay with the three leaders with Casey Stoner out front, who was pushing hard to make a gap on the following riders. For the whole race Andrea was able to be involved in some exciting battles with the likes of Dani Pedrosa, Nicky Hayden and Colin Edwards. The final position of fifth is a result, which is very important for the World Championship in which the Italian rider maintains sixth place overall.

Dovizioso on the Second Row at Donington
21 June 2008
The second day on the circuit of Donington Park and heavy rain in the morning led to a wet practice session, which showed how Andrea could ride in the rain. Always staying in the upper part of the classification, Andrea ended in first position making a virtual front row packed with Honda machinery. In the afternoon the JiR Team Scot rider in the qualifying session for the British Grand Prix ended with the sixth fastest time – his best qualifying this season – thanks to this he will start on the second row of the grid.

First Day of Practice for Dovizioso at Donington
21 June 2008
Today’s first day of practice for the British Grand Prix saw some typical English weather. In the sky there were clouds, just a little sunshine but no rain despite the weather forecast! In the morning session Andrea Dovizioso showed that he would be a force to be reckoned with, having a good pace with the leaders and ending the session in fourth place. In the afternoon the JiR Team Scot rider worked hard on tyre choice, testing all the various materials that Michelin brought for him, as he prepared for the practice and qualifying sessions of tomorrow. The final position in the afternoon does not show Andrea’s potential and both team and rider are confident to find the right pace for the race.

A Tenacious Home Race From Dovizioso at Mugello
02 June 2008
The Italian Grand Prix at Mugello saw Andrea Dovizioso fighting at the head of the field once more. A great start from 13th place on the grid and in just a few corners he took fifth position and tried not to lose the contact with Rossi, Stoner, Pedrosa and Capirossi. During the race both Dovizioso and Alex de Angelis came through the pack and the JiR Team Scot rider was then fighting with Loris Capirossi for seventh position. The fighting was spectacular and could have ended in Andrea being higher up the order, if it was not for a lack of grip towards the end of the race. Instead, Andrea went for the finish and some safe points, climbing one position to seventh in the World Championship rankings.

It was a race as usual with a lot of determination, with some very close riding and it proved to be a difficult race thanks to a collision with Yamaha’s James Toseland. Thankfully the JiR Team Scot rider was able to remain in the race but the clash cost the Italian rider a lot of precious time. The end of the race for Dovi was again a battle, this time for 5th position with Suzuki’s Chris Vermeulen.

Tonight’s very important qualifying session for the first MotoGP race of the season produced a lot of expectation and also came with some big surprises. Andrea Dovizioso, heading towards his first start in the MotoGP championship, gains a third row position for tomorrow’s race. Obviously JiR Team Scot wanted more than that with their previous testing form around the Losail circuit, but the atmosphere in the garage is serene ahead of tomorrow’s 22-lap race because their pace in race trim is very consistent and at a high level. In any case the third row looks is very special as the three riders on it have 11 world titles between them!

In the first session Andrea took the third-best lap time as he took time to verify things tested in the past week at Qatar. Rain once again disturbed today’s final day of testing at the official IRTA tests at the Jerez circuit in southern Spain. In the afternoon the sunshine finally dried out the 2.748-mile track and the JiR Team Scot squad was once more hard at work researching improved settings for their Honda RCV212V machine. Despite only a few hours of quality track-time available, the circuit was in good condition, but with some high winds affecting some riders in a number of corners. Today Andrea Dovizioso focussed his attention on qualifying tyres, setting the third fastest time overall.
