Meklau Closes IDM Series Gap
25 June 2008
Two podium places at Sunday's Sachsenring round put Andreas Meklau closer to the lead in the International German Superbike Championship (IDM). The 40-year-old Austrian, who rides for Team Suzuki International Europe, qualified for the front row of the starting grid after the practice session. In the first heat he took third place behind Jorg Teuchert (Yamaha) and Martin Bauer (Honda) and in the second, Meklau was in the lead and looked all set for his first win of the season until Belgian Suzuki rider Werner Daemen crashed and the race was stopped. After the restart, nine more laps had to be completed. Meklau chose a softer tyre mix for the second half of the race but was unable to catch Teuchert. Third place went to the Swiss Suzuki rider Roman Stamm.

Andreas Meklau raced to two fourth places at the weekend's International German Superbike Championships second round at Oschersleben and stands third in the series. However it was Belgian Werner Daemen who was the top Suzuki team member to cross the finish line, finishing third in both races. Dominic Lammert was also on the starting grid. The 20-year old new talent recently underwent an operation on his meniscus, and took two respectable finishes in 7th and 6th place.
Both heats at the Motorsport Arena were won by Martin Bauer (Honda), followed by Jarg Teuchert (Yamaha).

Meklau Scores Podium at German SBK Opener
08 May 2008
With a place in the front row of the grid at the Euro Speedway Lausitz, Andreas Meklau gained an excellent starting position to finish on the podium in the first race of the International German Superbike championship season.
The 40-year-old Austrian rider from Team SUZUKI International Europe took the chequered flag in third place after a tough, but fair, struggle with Jarg Teuchert (Yamaha), during which the two bikes even touched on occasion.
Meklau was third in the second heat again, following Bauer and Teuchert across the line after Dario Giuseppetti on the Ducati was penalised and moved five places down the list of finishers after a complaint for allegedly leaving and returning to the starting grid had been upheld.
