Kawasaki Progress in Portugal
13 April 2008
Qualifying practice for the third race of the 2008 MotoGP World Championship took place this afternoon at Estoril, in readiness for the Portuguese Grand Prix on Sunday, and both Kawasaki Racing Team riders slashed their previous fastest times on race tyres. Later, on qualifiers, John Hopkins managed 10th spot on tomorrow's grid, just 0.093 seconds off the man in front of him, current world champion, Casey Stoner. And the 24-year-old Anglo American did it in style: the complex layout of Estoril providing him with ample opportunity to display his ability to pull off some outrageous lean angles.

Gripping Stuff From Qatar Qualifying
09 March 2008
The qualifying session for the first MotoGP round of 2008 took place tonight at Qatar's Losail International Circuit and it was not short on surprises. Rookies Jorge Lorenzo and James Toseland took pole and second position on the grid, while some older hands struggled to find form at the 5.38km desert track. But John Hopkins, riding the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-RR in his first race weekend for the squad, came over the line with the tenth fastest time of the session on the 21st of 23 laps. He was also the third highest placed Bridgestone rider, with only current world champion, Casey Stoner, and Valentino Rossi ahead of him on similar rubber.

De Puniet & West On The Second Row At Sepang
20 October 2007
Today's qualifying practice at Sepang ended with Kawasaki's Randy de Puniet heading up the second row with his team mate, Anthony West right behind him on the grid for tomorrow's Malaysian Grand Prix. In the afternoon's nail-biting session, the Frenchman crashed out, rode his spare bike for much of the allocated hour, then rode home his hastily-repaired, primary Ninja ZX-RR to fourth place on the leader board in the very final moments. He clocked his best qualifying time of 2'02.107 with a top speed of 296.5kmh, just behind Marco Melandri who snatched the last place on the front row in the closing seconds by the tiniest margin of 0.163 seconds.

His efforts put him in third place, just behind Casey Stoner and John Hopkins, with a best time of 1'58.939 around the twisty, 5.4km circuit.

24 June 2007
Randy de Puniet and Anthony West will start tomorrow’s MotoGP race from eighth and 17th on the grid respectively after today’s qualifying practice at Donington Park. After two wet sessions yesterday, the final practice was held this morning in the dry and saw de Puniet finish sixth on combined times, just ahead of the afternoon’s eventual pole position man, Colin Edwards. Meanwhile, Anthony, adapting to a dry track on the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-RR after Friday’s spectacular, rain-hit debut where he came seventh on combined times, finished in 18th place in practice, nearly two seconds ahead of Team Roberts rider, Kurtis Roberts.
