Pirelli – Assen Race Review
28 April 2008
After a weekend of records at Valencia, thanks to the Pirelli tyres which used to improved the lap records in all the classes, Assen delivered another great performance from the Pirelli tyres. In the SBK class the riders use a qualifing tyre and Bayliss set the new record in Superpole with the incredible time of 1’38.420, having set an even better one in final free practice, 1’38.355. No qualifying tyres were needed for a new pre-race record from the Diablo SUPERCORSA tyre, and Broc Parkes. In the two Stock classes DIABLO SUPERCORSA produced records, with Corti in the 1000 class (a time of 1’41.576 which could let him race in the SBK class) and Petrucci in the 600cc class.

Double Dutch Delight for Bayliss at Assen
28 April 2008
Troy Bayliss (Ducati Xerox) powered to his second double of the year with two convincing wins at the Assen TT Circuit in the Netherlands in the fourth round of the HANNspree FIM Superbike World Championship front of 75,000 spectators. Bayliss powered to his fifth win at Assen in the opening race after a mistake by early leader Kagayama (Alstare Suzuki) on lap 12 left him with a gap at the chicane. The Australian then increased his lead over the following riders in the final laps to win by a margin of 2 seconds. Carlos Checa (Hannspree Ten Kate Honda) took the runner-up slot, in a sprint to the finish with Max Neukirchner (Suzuki Alstare). Kagayama took fourth from Troy Corser (Yamaha Motor Italia WSB), both riders holding off a late charge by Jakub Smrz (Ducati Guandalini).

Yamaha's High Expectations for Brands
01 August 2007
This weekend sees one of the biggest races in the World Superbike Championship as the circus goes to Brands Hatch in the UK for the tenth of thirteen rounds this year. After this weekend's round the championship will have a five week break prior to the final three rounds. Brands Hatch is a favourite stop on the championship calendar for both riders and British fans alike, attracting up to 120,000 spectators. Its natural amphitheatre-style layout makes for good viewing and the challenging mix of fast, blind corners and elevations means the circuit is highly rated by virtually all riders. The circuit was originally used as a military training ground but was taken over by motorcycles for grass track racing in 1926. It ran anti-clockwise until 1954 but has run clockwise ever since.

Yamaha Set For Czech Triumph
18 July 2007
The World Superbike Championship goes to Brno this weekend for the ninth round in the 2007 season. Since the last race at Misano in June, the teams have been in the thick of testing at Brno and Vallelunga and are now raring to clarify their race winning potential again. There has been a race circuit at Brno since the 1930s and it first hosted a motorcycle world championship in 1965, though this year will only be the fifth time the World Superbike Championship has stopped at the Czech circuit. Its first appearance on the calendar was in 1993, then 1996 and then it didn't reappear until 2005 when it was the scene of Yamaha's first WSB win, with Haga taking the honour for the team when he went from 18th to win with over three seconds lead.

This was only the third time a superbike race has been cancelled in the championship's twenty-year history.

One day before the Supersport and Superbike classes had their chance to start testing at Valencia the Superstock riders made their last test before the start of the season at Donington Park on April 1. Claudio Corti showed the potential of the new 2007 YZF-R1, scoring the fastest lap of all and setting himself up well for the first round, while his team-mate Michele Pirro was an impressive fourth quickest, despite feeling that he still has a lot of learning to do in the Superstock class.

Corti tenth in Monza for Yamaha
07 May 2006
Yamaha Team Italia rider Claudio Corti finished tenth in today's second round of the FIM Superstock 1000 Cup at his local Monza circuit. Starting from tenth on the grid following a gear selection problem in the second qualifying session, the YZF-R1 SP rider made a superb start to lie third at the end of the opening lap. The 18-year-old from Como struggled for traction and slipped back into a fierce battle for seventh place but found himself slipstreamed across the finish line. In a photo finish, fellow R1 SP riders Ilario Dionsi and Matteo Baiocco passed Corti across the line - the three Yamahas covered by just one hundredth of a second at the finish. Emilio Rocamora was 11th on another Yamaha, a further two hundredths of a seconds behind.
