Demaria MX3 Championship Win Completes A Double For Yamaha

Yamaha were able to celebrate title success in two of the three FIM Motocross World Championship classes as Yves Demaria swept to victory in the MX3 series by finishing second overall at the fourteenth and final round of the 2007 series at Faenza in Italy yesterday. The French veteran, who steered adapted YZ450F machinery within his own team structure for ‘07, led the big-bore category by 28 points going to the fast venue close to Bologna. The 35 year old had won the previous four consecutive motos in Denmark and Switzerland and been victorious overall in four of the thirteen rounds before heading to Italy.

Mackenzie Fourth Overall in Steamy Italy

The Grand Prix Citta di Faenza saw Kawasaki Racing Team’s Billy Mackenzie score fourth position and a second moto ranking of third as the tenth meeting of fifteen in the FIM MX1 Motocross World Championship took place under blue skies and rocketing temperatures in central-eastern Italy. 29,000 spectators applied a high-factor sun cream and watched as the fastest riders in the MX1 series defied strength-sapping conditions at the circuit close to Imola and only 50km east of Bologna. Faenza was hosting a world championship event for the first time this century and despite numerous alterations to bring the track up to Grand Prix standard and impeccable presentation, the layout offered a traditional Italian test with its fast, hard and dusty terrain.

Ramon 8th In Faenza Heat - Team Suzuki

Steve Ramon was Team Suzuki's best performer with eighth position under blue skies and scorching 35 degree-plus temperatures at the Monte Coralli circuit in Faenza today for the 10th round of the FIM MX1 Motocross World Championship. Ramon, who came through Timed Practice on an equally-hot Saturday with the third quickest time on his RM-Z450, took two eight positions in the motos as 29,000 spectators crowded the steep hillside setting 15km east of Imola.

Coppins Back On The Podium With Second In Faenza

Yamaha Motocross Team's Joshua Coppins closed the second third of the 2007 FIM MX1 Motocross World Championship with runner-up position at a sun-soaked Monte Coralli circuit for the Grand Prix Citta di Faenza. The 30 year old New Zealander guided his works YZ450FM to a pair of second places in front of 29,000 spectators and under the heavy weight of near-40 degree temperatures to return to the podium at the second home event of the season for his Rinaldi team.

Tyla Rattray Third in MX2 GP - Faenza

KTM Red Bull Racing Team's Tyla Rattray raced to overall third in the replacement race in Faenza Italy for the originally planned motocross GP in his home town in Durban, South Africa. The South African KTM factory rider showed no signs of the knee injury sustained in the last race of the series in Sweden. Rattray was third across the finish line in both races at the Italian track of Faenza, the first time it has hosted MX1 and MX2 GPs.

Barragan MX1 Fifth in Faenza

KTM Red Bull Factory rider Jonathan Barragan rode to fifth place in the MX1 Grand Prix in Faenza, Italy in a race that replaced Durban on the competition calendar. The Spanish KTM factory rider earned his first MX1 pole position riding on a track that was completely new to him scored fifth place in both heats for overall fifth on the day.

Ramon 3rd on Italian MX1 Gate

The first day of action at the Monte Coralli circuit for the Grand Prix Citta di Faenza, the 10th round of 15 in the 2007 FIM MX1 Motocross World Championship has seen Team Suzuki's Steve Ramon set an impressive pace and securing third position despite sweltering 35 degree plus temperatures in Italy. The venue, 15km east of Imola, presented a fast, hard-pack and mostly flat test for the protagonists of the MX1 series but Ramon was able to adapt to the conditions quickly on his works RM-Z450 and was among the fastest riders in the two free practice sessions. He switched his Pirelli rear tyre to use a compound suited to the bone-dry ground and for a stretch of Timed Practice held pole position before being nudged down to third.

Strijbos Back On Top Form

Team Suzuki's Kevin Strijbos proved that he is coming back to full speed and fitness just in time for the 10th round the 2007 FIM Motocross World Championship at Faenza this weekend by winning all three motos at the fifth test of the 2CMX Belgian Championship last Sunday. The 21 year old collected a triple set at Nismes beating team-mate and fellow works RM-Z450 rider Steve Ramon (third) at the former Grand Prix circuit.
