Stefan Everts Test at Orehova Vas for KTM

A month before the motocross race track in Orehova Vas will host the tenth event for the FIM MX3 World Championship and the UEM EMX2 European Championship, special guests visited the track. Stefan Everts Ten time motocross World Champion Stefan Everts decided to visit Slovenia with his Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team to do some test practice. The former Belgian GP rider was satisfied with the conditions of the World Championship scene.

Tommy Searle, the 18-year-old Briton for the KTM Red Bull MX2 Racing Team made his dream come true on Sunday just a few kilometers from his home town when he clinched his maiden GP victory at Donington Park. On a day when clear blue skies heralded a fine day for competition at the famous British racing circuit, Searle, who was second in the first moto, made sure of victory in the second for overall top podium place. He went through the checkered flag almost eight seconds ahead of second placed Jeremy Tarroux and clocked his fastest lap in lap 15 of the 18-lap race.

KTM Red Bull Racing Team's David Philippaerts made it a double podium for the KTM factory riders this weekend at Nemur, Belgium, when he amassed enough points for second overall on Sunday in the two MX1 races. But while Philippaerts and team boss Stefan Everts were pleased with the podium, both admitted it was disappointing to miss absolute victory by a single point. Earlier in the day, the team's MX2 rider, Tommy Searle was also second in his GP, but also missed the top of the podium by just two points.

The 2006 Weston Beach Race is set for the ultimate battle when arguably the world’s two best off road motorcycle riders go to head around the 3.5 mile track on the North Somerset coast. Ten times world motocross champion, and 2004 beach race winner, Stefan Everts will now line up against double world enduro champion and 2002 beach race victor (on both two and four wheels!) David Knight. Stefan Everts closed a record-breaking career - boasting numbers and results surely never to be equalled - with his fourteenth victory from fifteen events Ernee at the French Grand Prix for the final round of the FIM 2006 MX1 World Championship. The 33-year-old decorated Belgian, 2006 World Champion and ten times title winner across 125, 250, 500, MXGP and MX1 classes scooped his 101st career victory with two double triumphs watched and applauded by 17.000 appreciative spectators. The masses acknowledged a special chapter in motocross history as Everts took to the podium for the fifteenth time this year and for the final occasion after an eighteen year stint at the highest level.

Special Bike Livery Marks End Of Everts GP Era

Yamaha will mark the end of a great era today with a special livery on the YZ450FM of Stefan Everts, as the Belgian celebrates the final Grand Prix of his illustrious career. The 33-year-old lined up on the gate for his first Grands Prix at Faenza (Italy) in 1989 and has since won a total of 100 Grands Prix and 10 world titles. Yamaha is marking the end-of-career occasion with a special livery. The design features all his 100 Grands Prix victories symbolising a chequered flag to mark the finish of Stefan’s Grands Prix career. Tyre sponsor Pirelli has fitted Stefan’s YZ450FM with special one-off white colour painted tyres, which have the same performance and durability as the regular black ones. Stefan on his turn has cooperated with clothing sponsor Acerbis who have produced a one-piece ‘golden’ riding suit to mark the occasion as well.

Yamaha Intur Sports Motocross Team's Stefan Everts was beaten for the first time this season after a thrilling contest against Josh Coppins at Desert Martin for the Grand Prix of Northern Ireland. The Belgian was forced onto the second step after accumulating a 100% perfect winning streak of twelve rounds in succession when he lost a second race duel with Coppins. He had earlier taken his 22nd consecutive moto triumph by capturing the opening foray from the New Zealander and this haul of 25 points contributed towards the confirmation of Yamaha's ownership of the Manufacturer's title in MX1 with the YZ450FM.
