Toseland Back on Track

After three moral sapping races James Toseland got his season back on track in the first day of practice for the Cinzano Grand Prix of San Marino and Riviera of Rimini in Misano this afternoon. The 27 year old Yorkshireman has been beset by tyre problems in those last three races but after the two one hour sessions today round the 2.626 mile circuit he was tenth fastest. Riding the Tech 3 Yamaha for the first time at the Misano MotoGP circuit Toseland was just over one second behind World Champion Casey Stoner who led the way.

Toseland Digs Deep for Final Six

James Toseland is drawing on his vast reserves of strength and enthusiasm to face the final six grands prix of the season starting in the Cinzano San Marino Grand Prix at Misano on Sunday. Tyre problems on his Tech 3 Yamaha have slaughtered his chances of success in the last three grands prix and pushed him down to11th in the Championship on his debut MotoGP season. The 27 year old Yorkshireman is determined to fight back at the Misano circuit which he has only ridden the other way round in his World Superbike Championship days.

Eugene Laverty Replaces Fabien Foret for Donington

Eugene Laverty, the young 22 year old Northern Irish 250 GP rider has been picked by the Yamaha World Supersport Team to replace injured rider Fabien Foret for the next two rounds of the World Supersport Championship at Donington and Vallelunga. Laverty is no stranger to the Supersport class, having raced successfully in British Supersport previously. He gave a strong performance in the 2006 championship, battling throughout the year to take third in the overall standings.

Tyred-Out Toseland Fights To The Finish

James Toseland battled through 22 laps of pure hell to finish a brave 13th in the Cardion ab Grand Prix of the Czech Republic in Brno this afternoon. Tyre problems never gave the 27 year old Yorkshireman a chance on the Tech 3 Yamaha at the 3.357 mile circuit where Toseland finished first and second in the World Superbike Championship last year. Despite those major tyre problems, he battled to the finish to pick up a couple of World Championship points.

Toseland Starts Despite Problems In The Rain

When the likes of MotoGP winner Jorge Lorenzo and World Superbike Champion James Toseland fail to qualify for the Cardion AB Grand Prix of the Czech Republic it shows just how appalling the weather must have been in the one hour qualifying session for the 12th round of the MotoGP World Championship. The heavy rain just got heavier and heavier as the session progressed round the 3.357 mile Brno circuit. Toseland fell from the Tech 3 Yamaha at the bottom of the hill in the spray and mist. He was uninjured and despite not producing a qualifying time will be allowed to start the 22 lap race. The 27 year old Yorkshireman finished first and second in the World Superbike Championship races at Brno last year.

Toseland Puts Training to Good Use

James Toseland put his recent training with Marines to good use in a difficult first day of practice for the Cardion AB Grand Prix of the Czech Republic in Brno this afternoon. The 27 year old Yorkshireman finally finished 13th fastest riding the Tec 3 Yamaha at the circuit where he scored first and second place in the World Superbike Championship last year. He slid off at low speed late in the afternoon session but neither Toseland or the Yamaha were damaged. The only problem he had was re-starting the machine but that recent Marines training paid off and he was able to re-start the Yamaha with a good old fashioned shove.

Toseland Looks To Brno Repeat

James Toseland heads the refreshed British riders returning from the summer break to face the last seven grands prix of the season, starting with the Cardion ab Grand Prix of the Czech Republic at Brno on Sunday. The twenty seven year old Yorkshireman returns after a tremendous first part of his MotoGP debut season and has every reason to be confident in the 22 lap on Sunday. Last year he really tuned his season round with first and second places in the two World Superbike Championship races at the superb 3.357 mile Brno circuit. He currently lies ninth in the World Championship riding the Tech 3 Yamaha but good results in the final seven races could lift him as high as the top six.

Stoner Storms In The Rain

Casey Stoner ‘s third successive grand prix victory came in dramatic circumstances in the pouring rain at the Alice Grand Prix of Germany at the Sachsenring this afternoon. Championship leader Dani Pedrosa raced away at the start of the 30 lap race round the tight twisty 2.281 mile circuit to build up a seven second advantage in the spray and looked likely to repeat his success of last year. However the pace he was setting in the spray on the Repsol Honda was too hot and down he went at turn one with the opposition well out of sight. Stoner, who started from pole for the fourth successive race on the Marlboro Ducati, needed no second chance and took full advantage at the circuit where he had never won previously.

Stoner Closes on Hat-Trick Victory

Apart from that big crash on Friday afternoon this was another faultless display by the Casey Stoner/Marlboro Ducati combination as they dominated the one hour qualifying session for the Alice Grand Prix of Germany at the Sachsenring this afternoon. The 22 year old Australian World Champion grabbed his fourth successive pole position and decimated the old pole record set by Dani Pedrosa two years ago. Stoner has fought his way right back into Championship contention after winning the last two races and he looks well on course to make it three to close the 29 points advantage of Championship leader Pedrosa. The Spanish Repsol Honda rider who won the race last year, qualified on the front row of the grid in second place, three tenths of a second behind Stoner, with the inform American Colin Edwards completing the front row, riding the Tech 3 Yamaha.

Crash Landing For MotoGP Men

It was a day of crashing for the MotoGP stars in the first two practice sessions for the Alice Grand Prix of Germany at the Sachsenring this afternoon. Among the fallers in the afternoon session were Championship leader Dani Pedrosa and World Champion Casey Stoner while in the morning British star James Toseland crashed without injury on just the second lap. Although the weather was dry despite a few spots of rain in the morning round the tight 2.281 mile circuit, the pressure really told on those top men who all escaped injury. Anthony West on the sole Kawasaki crashed in the morning and bruised his back while in the afternoon Andre Dovizioso and Colin Edwards also fell without injury.

British Stars Set to Take on the World at Brands

Toseland Back Into The Unknown

After disappointments at two circuits he knows well, James Toseland returns to his journey into the unknown at the Alice Grand Prix of Germany at the tight twisty Sachsenring on Sunday. The 27 year old Yorkshireman has shown already in his MotoGP debut season how quickly he can learn new circuits on the Tech 3 Yamaha and the tenth round of the MotoGP World Championship should be no exception. Toseland crashed in Donington and struggled with the set-up in Assen to eventually finish in ninth place but still holds eighth place in the Championship, just ten points behind former World Champion Nicky Hayden.

Smith's Rain Shower Wrecker

A short sharp shower of rain wrecked Bradley Smith’s chance of his first ever grand prix victory in the 125 cc race at the Dutch TT in Assen this afternoon. Seventeen year old Smith was a comfortable leader of the scheduled 22 lap ninth round of the World Championship when it started to rain on various sections of the legendary 2.830 mile circuit in North Holland. As the conditions worsened Smith, who like all other riders was using slick tyres on his Polaris World Aprilia, crashed on lap ten. The race was immediately stopped with the red flag and the race was re-run over just five laps. With grid positions determined for the new race by the finishing position of riders on the previous lap before the red flag was shown, Smith was able to start and in pole position.

Assen Annialated by Championship Trio

A fantastic one hour MotoGP qualifying session just whetted the appetite for the 26 lap Dutch TT at Assen tomorrow afternoon. The Championship chasing trio of Valentino Rossi. Dani Pedrosa and Casey Stoner decimated the lap record round the legendary 2.80 mile track in the north of Holland as they fought for pole position. In a hectic last couple of minutes it was World Champion Stoner riding the Marlboro Ducati who grabbed his third successive pole position but only after a tremendous fight by first Rossi and then by Pedrosa in the very last few seconds. Riding the Repsol Honda ,Pedrosa almost took pole on his very last lap but had to settle for second and is joined on the front row by Championship leader Valentino Rossi’s Fiat Yamaha. The trio were separated by just over one tenth of a second to set up a tremendous battle tomorrow.

Stoner Storms Into Assen

Just four days after his Donington Park triumph Casey Stoner was back in action on the Marlboro Ducati to set the fastest lap ever recorded by a motorcycle round the 2.830 mile Assen circuit in the North of Holland this afternoon. The 22 year old World Champion was in stunning form both in the morning and afternoon practice sessions held in bright sunshine, to lead Championship leader Valentino Rossi by over seven tenths of one second. The Australian revealed after his British Grand Prix win on Sunday that the Ducati team had developed some improved electronics which he hoped would continue to be as successful in Assen and that certainly proved the case. Third fastest was American Colin Edwards riding the Tech 3 Yamaha in front of 2006 Assen winner Nicky Hayden on the pneumatic valve Repsol Honda.

Toseland Picks Himself Up & Prepares For Assen Battle

His pride may be damaged and his hand bruised but James Toseland has already put the Donington disaster behind him as he prepares for the next contest, the A-Style Dutch TT at Assen on Saturday. The 27 year old Yorkshireman arrives at the ninth round of the MotoGP World Championship with a winning pedigree at the 2.830 miles circuit in the World Superbike Championship. The Tech 3 Yamaha rider is eighth in the World Championship in his debut MotoGP season and will forget that first bend crash at Donington as soon as practice starts on Thursday morning.

Toseland Tumbles in Donington Rain

It may be the longest day of the year but there was no sign of flaming June as heavy rain and cold conditions blighted the qualifying session for the bwin.com British Grand Prix at Donington Park this afternoon. The wet track and cold conditions resulted in a miserable day for Britain’s great hope James Toseland who crashed twice in the one hour afternoon qualifying and once in the morning practice from his Tech 3 Yamaha.

It’s the weekend of the year that all British Motorcycle racing fans have been waiting for the bwin.com British Grand Prix at Donington Park. It’s the weekend when Britain’s MotoGP stars return home to race at the 2.50 miles Parkland circuit for their only British appearances of the season. Spearheading the British challenge is 27 year old Yorkshireman James Toseland who returns to the circuit where he won a World Superbike Championship race last year. Riding the Tech 3 Yamaha he’s made a superb start to his MotoGP career and after four sixth places in the opening seven rounds he lies seventh in his MotoGP debut season.
