AMA Pro Racing Statement - Mladin Disqualification and Appeal Process

Pro Racing has issued the following statement from Roy Janson, AMA Pro Racing vice president of competition, regarding the disqualification of Mat Mladin, riding the No. 6 Suzuki, from the Superbike races at Virginia International Raceway on August 16-17, 2008, and the denial of the subsequent appeal of that disqualification:

Steve Rapp Disqualified from Laguna Seca Supersport Race

AMA Pro Racing announced today that Steve Rapp has been disqualified from the July 19, 2008 AMA Pro Honda Oils Supersport Championship presented by Shoei round at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca following the outcome of post race technical inspections. The cylinder head from the #15 Attack Kawasaki was sent to AMA headquarters in Pickerington, Ohio, and was compared to other production cylinder heads from the same model. Upon this inspection, the cylinder head was found to be in non-compliance of the 2008 AMA Superbike Championship Rulebook.

TT Organisers Confirm Anstey Disqualification

Steve Plater awarded debut TT win in Relentless Supersport one race. The TT organisers yesterday confirmed that New Zealand’s Bruce Anstey, originally the winner of the Relentless Supersport one race, was disqualified because of a technical breech of the homologation rules for Supersport machines. The revised order sees Steve Plater confirmed as the new winner, with John McGuinness in second place and Scotland’s Keith Amor awarded the third place.
