More Good Results for Injured Andrews
26 August 2008
Still suffering the effects from broken bones in his hand and an injured knee, Simon Andrews once again rode two extremely confident races at the very physical Cadwell Park circuit, at round nine of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship. In front of a massive crowd, Andrews on the Lloyds British backed Jentin Yamaha scored a seventh and sixth place respectively in the two difficult races. Despite rest and physio on his injuries Andrews knew that the tough, demanding 2.2-mile circuit of Cadwell Park would test his fitness and his injuries to the maximum. With no rest around the track the youngster once again achieved two more confidence boosting top ten results, which also promoted him to eighth place in the overall Championship standings.

Solid Point Scoring Positions for NW200 Ducati Riders
26 August 2008
It was a good weekend for the NW200 Ducati Team at round nine of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Cadwell Park. Michael Rutter on the North West 200 Ducati gained a solid sixth and fifth place respectively at the ultra technical Lincolnshire circuit. His team-mate John Laverty kept his lead in the Daily Star Cup, and is now sitting 111 points clear of his nearest rival Martin Jessopp in the Championship standings. An injured Laverty gained a second place and a win in the two Cup races.

Podium Record Remains Intact for Chris Burns
26 August 2008
Once again the STP Motorsport MV Agusta British superbike team put its supporters through the wringer with a roller coaster of a weekend at Cadwell Park. As we all know, though, it is the race that counts and Chris Burns maintained his record of standing on the podium in every race the MV Agusta F4 1000 has finished this season. Saturday’s free practice promised much ahead of the new-style qualifying but a damp track in practice on Saturday morning resulted in a major accident for Chris and the MV Agusta F4 1000, while he was lying in a fantastic 7th place in the time standings. Thankfully, both Chris and the bike escaped relatively unharmed and the team looked forward to improving on its provisional 16th place on the grid.

Sykes & Haslam Gunning for Glory
18 August 2008
Fresh from their Scottish victories, Tom Sykes and Leon Haslam are eager for more of the same as the chase for the Bennetts British Superbike crown moves into the final third of the campaign at Cadwell Park over the Bank Holiday weekend. The man they have to beat is former champion Shane Byrne who has amassed a 110 points lead in the title stakes – the Airwaves Ducati rider has recovered from the bruising he took in a heavy tumble at Knockhill and is promising to show what might have been in that race. Byrne has won eight races so far, not finishing off the podium until that crash last time out, but he is taking nothing for granted as the young-guns of the series make determined challenges.

Fantastic Weekend Ends with Another Win for MV Agusta
12 August 2008
The STP Motorsport MV Agusta British Superbike Team came away from a weekend of mixed fortunes at Knockhill with its season back on track following a podium finish in race one and a stunning race win in the rain interrupted second race in the Daily Star Superbike Cup. The Team’s mechanical jinx returned with an undiagnosed misfire on the new Superbike engine during qualifying forced the team to abandon plans to use it in the race. This left Chris Burns with his number two bike, which remains pretty much in superstock condition. Undeterred, he pushed hard from 17th place on the grid to finish 3rd in the Daily Star Superbike Cup and 15th overall, gaining another valuable Championship point for MV Agusta in its return to the Superbike stage.

Haslam & Byrne Fastest, Just, from Sykes & Crutchlow
08 August 2008
Leon Haslam and Shane Byrne jointly topped the free practice leaderboard ahead of the eighth round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at the short, but challenging Knockhill circuit in Fife. In a fast, and frantic session, just 0.008 seconds separated the top four riders, with Tom Sykes and Cal Crutchlow continuing their recent strong form as they closed in on the leading duo in an afternoon session in which the top ten riders were little more than half a second apart.

Sykes Eager for More but Byrne Determined
06 August 2008
Tom Sykes admits to having a few sleepless nights during the past couple of weeks, but that is all down to the excitement of enjoying a maiden Bennetts British Superbike winning double, and then making his debut onto the World stage. The Rizla Suzuki rider has put all of that behind him and is now concentrating hard on racking up more points in this weekend’s eighth round at the short, but demanding Knockhill circuit.

Gary Mason Holds His Position at Oulton Park
29 July 2008
Gary Mason leaves Oulton Park having held onto his position of fourth place in the Daily Star Cup, after a challenging day’s racing. In changeable weather Gary qualified first out of the Cup riders on the Q8Oils lubricated Quay Garage Racing Honda superbike, starting the race ahead of Cup leader John Laverty on the Buildabase NW200 Ducati and both of the factory supported Rizla Suzukis.

Sykes Takes Maiden Victory & Then Daily Double
21 July 2008
Tom Sykes was long overdue a victory in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship having come close on several occasions and the Rizla Suzuki set the record straight with a dominant seventh round performance at Oulton Park where he completed the daily double. He had been on the pace throughout the weekend, missing out on pole by barely a quarter of a second, but with his team Sykes had worked hard to ensure that his bike was perfectly set for the two 18 laps races at the Cheshire circuit.

MV Agusta Closer to Pace in Qualifying
19 July 2008
Hampered by a lack of horsepower Chris Burns qualified the MV Agusta F4 1000 in fourth place in the Daily Star superbike Cup at Oulton Park today. The changes to the swingarm and suspension made by the team in yesterday’s free practice improved the times of the MV Agusta in qualifying, moving it closer to the pole position time of making it the fourth quickest of the Cup runners.

Crutchlow Powers in an Action Replay Pole Start
19 July 2008
Cal Crutchlow powered his HM Plant Honda to pole start for the seventh round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Oulton Park and promised to convert his pace into a winning double to steel his chances of reeling in Shane Byrne in the title stakes. The Coventry rider enjoys riding the Cheshire circuit, having taken pole in the earlier visit there back in May – then in the races he had mixed fortunes with a sixth place and then a tumble but this time around Crutchlow is determined to show what might have been.

Set-Up Changes Show Promise for MV Agusta
19 July 2008
Free practice at Oulton Park was the first chance to test a number of changes to the MV Agusta F4 1000 of STP Motorsport. First reports indicate that they are having a positive effect. Key among the changes are new magnesium swingarms on both race bikes. These parts, supplied by MV Agusta ,not only help to reduce the overall weight of the bike but also improve handling around the Cheshire circuit. Finishing 21st overall in today’s free practice sessions the team is confident that this will be improved upon as the weekend unfolds.

Harris Sets Pace & Plans To Enjoy an Upset
19 July 2008
Karl Harris dominated free practice ahead of the seventh round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship as it returned to Oulton Park for a second visit of the season. The Rob Mac Racing Yamaha rider was fastest in each of the two sessions, running with a best time of 1m 36.716secs, an average speed of 100.20mph around the 2.692 mile Cheshire circuit, as he outpaced the leading duo in the title chase by a little over a tenth of a second.

High Fibre Diet Gives MV Agusta a New Outlook on Life
17 July 2008
Having come away from Mallory Park with a win and a third place in the Daily Star Superbike Cup the STP Motorsport MV Agusta British Team is confident that more success is around the many corners at Oulton Park this weekend. The MV Agusta F4 1000 has shown a lot of potential throughout the first half of the season and, as the development of the bike into a full-blown superbike continues, this potential will continue to be realised. The team has been handicapped so far by the excess weight that the ‘stock’ bike has had to carry. At about 20 kilos over the weight of its main competitors the bike has not been as agile as it could have been, making the result at the stop/start Mallory Park even more impressive.

Honda Men Determined to Head Off Byrne
14 July 2008
Shane Byrne is the dominant force of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship as it enters the second half of the campaign with a return visit to Oulton Park. This seventh round provides the HM Plant Honda riders Cal Crutchlow and Leon Haslam the chance to show what might have been in their earlier visit to the Cheshire circuit. Back in May, they had a tough time, with Crutchlow taking a tumble and then Haslam being excluded from the results on the second race after a tangle with Tom Sykes – both riders are keen to set the record straight by heading off their Airwaves Ducati rival who took a winning double then.

Gary Mason Moves Up The Superbike Chart at Mallory
08 July 2008
Gary Mason experienced mixed fortunes at Mallory Park but leaves the Leicestershire circuit having moved into fourth place in the Daily Star Cup, even though he has only competed at half of the six rounds of the season to date. Hampered by a shoulder injury which he picked up last weekend in the R1 Cup at Donington, Mason still qualified second out of the Daily Star Cup riders on the Q8Oils lubricated Quay Garage Racing Honda superbike.
