Quay Garage Racing Seek New Rider for BSB Cup
Yesterday
Q8Oils-supported Quay Garage Racing are in talks with some high profile riders to replace James Buckingham, following the 23-year old’s brave decision to step back from racing. James has a long association with the North Devon team, having won the British Superbike ‘privateers cup’ with them in 2005. However he has been dogged by injury problems since a massive crash at Oulton Park in 2006 that left him with two broken ankles and has struggled to return to his previous form. James’ ankle injury ruled him out of the 2006 season and he rode with a hole in his ankle bone that caused considerable pain during his 2007 campaign. He underwent a bone graft operation at the end of the year.

Byrne & Crutchlow Take the Victories at Brands
5 Days ago
Cal Crutchlow powered through the pain barrier to take third place, adrift of Shane Byrne and Tom Sykes, and then took a victory in the re-scheduled round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Brands Hatch. The HM Plant Honda rider sustained a dislocated right ankle and ligament damage in a crash in the Holiday Monday round at Oulton Park and was passed fit to race after lengthy treatment by the Coventry City physio and series’ medics. He had started alongside Byrne at the front of the grid – the positions had been decided five weeks earlier at the snow aborted opening round, and in total contrast the races were fought out over a sun-drenched Kent grand prix circuit.

Crutchlow Defies Injury to Race but Byrne Takes Pole
7 Days ago
Cal Crutchlow will defy the pain from his injured right ankle to keep his Bennetts British Superbike title bid on track at Brands Hatch but the HM Plant Honda rider faces a tough challenge from the series leading Shane Byrne. The Airwaves Ducati rider starts the races from pole postion, having topped the qualifying leaderboard ahead of the snow aborted opening round last month, and that position has been carried forward to this ‘round one – take two.’ Byrne had lapped then in a time of 1m 25.832secs and again he was the rider topping the free practice leaderboard at the sun-drenched Kent grand prix circuit, with a lap of 95.03mph, just 0.159secs up on HM Plant Honda rider Leon Haslam who starts from third place on the grid.

Series Leader Byrne Confident of More Success
08 May 2008
Shane Byrne heads confidently into his favourite Brands Hatch circuit for the rescheduled round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship this weekend intent on tightening his grip on the title that he last held five year ago. The Airwaves Ducati rider has won three of the four races held so far, opening up a 39 points advantage over his team-mate Leon Camier and unusually as Byrne prepares for these races, on the demanding grand prix circuit, that could be crucial to his hopes, he already knows that he will be on pole position for them.

Daily Double for Byrne Puts Him in Control in Title Stakes
05 May 2008
Shane Byrne took a winning double in an incident littered Oulton Park round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship to tighten his grip on the crown. The first race was stopped on the opening lap when five riders, including early leader Tom Sykes, tipped off in three incidents and with rain falling prior to the re-start the teams gambled on tyre choice.
