Waters Rockets to Supersport Win
Yesterday
Team Joe Rocket Suzuki rider Joshua Waters claimed overall victory at the sixth round of the Australian Supersport Championship at Tasmania's Symmons Plains Raceway at the weekend. Waters' Tasmanian round win came in only the sixth race meeting for the 2008-model Suzuki GSX-R600 and moved the Victorian to within 27pts of the championship lead with one round remaining. In an incident-packed opening Supersport race the 21-year-old claimed a thrilling 1.789sec victory, backing up with a hard-fought third in race two to finish the day equal on race points with championship leader Jamie Stauffer.

Team Yoshimura Suzuki rider Craig Coxhell claimed two thrilling race wins on his Suzuki GSX-R1000 in front of a record Australian Superbike Championship crowd of 12,500 spectators at Queensland Raceway's innovative double-header round at the weekend, moving to second on the championship points table with one round left to run. In an impressive outing for all three Team Yoshimura Suzuki riders at the Ipswich circuit, Coxhell, Shawn Giles and Josh Waters continued their recent run of strong form in the 2007 Australian Superbike and Supersport Championships with two race wins, a lap record and six further podium results in both classes. The double-header concept at the 3.12km circuit saw Round Six's two 16-lap races for each class conducted on Saturday with round seven's two races held on Sunday.

Team Yoshimura Suzuki rider Joshua Waters gave Suzuki's 2007-model GSX-R600 a stunning maiden win at round five of the Australian Supersport Championship at Launceston's Symmons Plains Raceway at the weekend. With a crowd of 5000 attending the Tasmanian event, Waters claimed a dominant 5.188sec win over defending Australian Supersport Champion Jamie Stauffer in the second of the day's two 20-lap Supersport races, moving to third overall in the eight-round national series.

Double Podiums For Yoshimura

Team Yoshimura Suzuki riders Shawn Giles, Craig Coxhell and Josh Waters continued their impressive start to the 2007 Australian Superbike and Supersport Championships with podium results in both classes at Winton Raceway's first double-header round at the weekend. The double-header concept saw the second round's two 17-lap races for each class conducted on Saturday and round three's on Sunday at the 3.0km Benalla circuit in Victoria.

Team Yoshimura Suzuki riders Shawn Giles, Craig Coxhell and Joshua Waters all finished in podium positions in the Australian support races at the second round of the Superbike World Championship race meeting at Victoria's Phillip Island race circuit at the weekend. In a strong showing for the new-look team, Giles finished overall second in the Superbike class behind reigning Australian champion Jamie Stauffer, and like Stauffer was the only rider to secure a top-three result in all three Superbike races.

The three riders Dean Thomas, Craig Coxhell and Peter Hickman all gained points in both of the Superbike races on board the Dunlop-shod Kawasaki ZX10-R's.

Highs And Lows For Hawk Kawasaki

The Hawk Kawasaki Team experienced the highs and lows of racing this weekend at round seven of the Bennetts British Superbike series at Snetterton Circuit. As Craig Coxhell and Peter Hickman achieved their best results so far this season, fellow team-mate Dean Thomas was involved in an incident in the second Superbike race involving himself and James Haydon. Thomas was treated trackside and also in the medical centre for broken ribs and a punctured right lung, which had to be drained at the circuit.

Top Ten Finishes for Hawk Kawasaki

Hawk Kawasaki rider Dean Thomas secured two top ten finishes at the third round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship on Bank Holiday Monday (17th April). 33-year-old Thomas gained a ninth and sixth place in the two Superbike races at Thruxton Circuit. After a fantastic qualifying position of fourth place on the grid, his second front row start this season, it was always going to be a difficult task to stay with the factory machines of Ducati and Honda at the super fast 2.4-mile track.

The 2.5-mile track is one of the teams' local circuits, with Hawk being based in Ashby-Ze-La-Zouch they are hoping for some positive results.

Strong Performance For Hawk Riders

The three Hawk Kawasaki riders made a good start at the opening round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Brands Hatch this weekend. Two of the riders, Dean Thomas and Craig Coxhell left the two races at Brands Indy confidently placed in the top ten in the overall Championship table with youngster Peter Hickman making huge progress throughout the weekend. With varying weather conditions over the three days it was difficult to judge which way it would swing come race day. With a dry first race and wet second race the riders had to adapt to various different race set-ups but each in turn adjusted well and gained creditable results at the end of the day.
