The 25th annual recipient of the IRTA 'Best Grand Prix' goes to the Losail International Circuit, the ultra-modern facility outside the Qatari capital of Doha that earned a unique place in motorsports history in 2008 when it became the first race track in the world to hold a World Championship event at night. Silverstone Unveils Dynamic Modifications To Circuit Layout

Silverstone Circuits Limited has unveiled provisional plans for a number of striking modifications to the track and spectator viewing areas at the UK’s premier motor racing venue. The most significant addition to the circuit will be a new section of track running from the approach at Abbey corner to a spectacular ‘Arrowhead’ at the inside of Becketts. The Arrowhead will then join up with the existing National Straight. Additional sections of track will also be laid at Chapel and Club in anticipation of FIM MotoGP World Championship motorcycle racing at Silverstone.

Donington Introduce Perfect Christmas Gift for Bikers

Donington Park hosts the only rounds of the World MotoGP and World Superbike Championships in Britain during 2009 alongside a round of the buoyant British Superbikes and the Leicestershire circuit is introducing a Christmas Gift special aimed at the sporting enthusiasts. The True Biker Summer Pass will provide access to these three key events on the motorcycle racing calendar at big money saving prices, and, passes are available either for the full weekend, giving nine days of hot on-track action or just for raceway.

No SBK at Brands Hatch for 2009

Following a period of analysis and negotiation, FGSport and MSV have decided not to stage the 2009 Superbike World Championship UK Round at Brands Hatch. Paolo Flammini, CEO of FGSport, declared: “The cooperation with MSV has always been perfect but for several reasons we came to a joint conclusion that there are not the conditions to confirm the inclusion of the Brands Hatch Circuit in the 2009 Calendar”.

Mondello Park Opts Out Of BSB Championship In '08

Following five years as part of the BSB calendar and following careful consideration, Mondello Park has decided not to take up its option to run a round of the British Superbike Championship in 2008. With the BSB teams looking to reduce the number of races for budgetary reasons, and the fact that it costs Mondello considerably more to host a round than any of the British circuits, the County Kildare venue has decided not to take up its place on the 2008 calendar. The decision comes despite an offer from the MCRCB to allow the Irish round to run over two days, rather than the normal three day event, which would have resulted in reduced costs for the teams, but not for the circuit.

Big Bike Race Meeting Set For Castle Combe

More top class big bike racing is scheduled for the 2007 season at Castle Combe with the announcement that in conjunction with the New Era Motorcycle Racing Club, the Wiltshire circuit will be hosting round four of the ACU Dunlop Tyres MotoStar Championship on the weekend of the 28th and 29th July 2007.

The Classic Racing Motorcycle Club is holding the final rounds of its prestigious 2006 motorcycle road racing championships at Croft Circuit, North Yorkshire this forthcoming weekend (7th and 8th October). The meeting will include all CRMC classes which will be running to the usual two championship races on Saturday and then they will have a single, eight lap “Race of the Year” on Sunday.

With capacity grids expected in most classes, the regular Auto 66 riders will no doubt come under the auspices of the local track specialists meaning that the action is bound to be fast and furious around Yorkshire’s only permanent motorsport facility.

The club has attracted a capacity entry for the two day meeting with a host of club regulars set to mix it with a smattering of track specialists in the action which is sure to be fast and furious.
