Double Top - MotoGP & WSBK at Donington Park Again in 09

Donington Park will be hosting the only World Championship motorcycle race action in Britain next year with the confirmation that both the MotoGP and Superbike events will be held at the Leicestershire parkland circuit. “We are delighted to be once again hosting these prestigious events,” said the circuit’s Chief Executive Officer Simon Gillett. “In the World Superbikes we will have one of the strongest ever British challenges while in MotoGP our local hero James Toseland will be taking on the world’s best led by the six times champion Valentino Rossi.” The ninth and British round of the World Superbike Championship will be held over the weekend of 26-27-28 June. Heading up a major domestic bid for honours in the production based championship will be twice British Superbike Champion Shane Byrne, riding the Sterilgarda Ducati.

Dungey and Reed Shine in Las Vegas

Rockstar Makita Suzuki Factory Racing's Ryan Dungey celebrated an impressive overall podium finish at the U.S. Open of Supercross in Las Vegas' two nights of racing at the weekend. The young Supercross Lites rider raced his Rockstar Makita Suzuki RM-Z250 alongside the larger-displacement bikes to bring home fifth and fourth-place finishes for an overall third-place result. Newly-signed and reigning AMA Supercross Champion Chad Reed, meanwhile, enjoyed a strong finish in his first U.S. race with Rockstar Makita Suzuki Factory Racing.

Sensational Double for Byrne

The 2008 British Superbike Champion Shane Byrne scored a double victory in his final outing for the Airwaves Ducati team this weekend. Teammate Leon Camier followed a 5th in race one with a hard fought 3rd in race two, helping Ducati to secure the manufacturer‚s title by 35 points. After losing a place at the start of the first race, Shane took the lead on lap 2. Posting the fastest time of the race with a 46.194, he eventually took the chequered flag nearly 2 seconds ahead of the rest of the field. Leon got away well from 6th and soon made his way up to 5th where he would remain.

Rizla Parts Company from Crescent Suzuki BSB Team

Rizla has decided to exit the British Superbike arena after seven successful years which have included many race victories and one British Superbike Championship in 2004.Alison Williams, Rizla Brand Manager said: "After seven years we have made the difficult decision to end our sponsorship of the Suzuki BSB team. Sykes & Haslam Gunning for Glory

Fresh from their Scottish victories, Tom Sykes and Leon Haslam are eager for more of the same as the chase for the Bennetts British Superbike crown moves into the final third of the campaign at Cadwell Park over the Bank Holiday weekend. The man they have to beat is former champion Shane Byrne who has amassed a 110 points lead in the title stakes – the Airwaves Ducati rider has recovered from the bruising he took in a heavy tumble at Knockhill and is promising to show what might have been in that race. Byrne has won eight races so far, not finishing off the podium until that crash last time out, but he is taking nothing for granted as the young-guns of the series make determined challenges.

Up & Down Weekend for Airwaves Ducati

Despite failing to finish the second race of the day, Airwaves Ducati rider Shane Byrne extended his lead in the British Superbike Championship today to 110 points after achieving a 2nd place finish in race one. Leon Camier finished 5th and 8th to secure valuable championship points. Race one was declared wet although rain stopped falling as the riders took off for their sighting lap. Both Airwaves Ducati riders initially got away well from the line, but Shane was to lose a couple of places by the first corner, slotting into 5th with Leon behind him in 6th. Shane pushed hard to get himself up to 2nd however, any further progress was to be hampered by a number of back markers. Leon managed to successfully withstand pressure from Michael Laverty on the Suzuki to cross the line in 5th.

Airwaves Ducati Aim to ‘kick Up a Gear’ at Knockhill

The Airwaves Ducati team travel to Knockhill this weekend for round 8 of the British Superbike Championship with both of its riders determined to secure more valuable championship points at the 1.27 mile circuit. Series leader Shane Byrne has so far this season managed to open up a 99 point lead over his nearest competitor in the championship, but is keen to get back to his winning ways after a couple of third place finishes at Oulton Park.

Two Podiums for Byrne at Oulton Park

Airwaves Ducati rider Shane Byrne leaves Oulton Park leading the British Superbike Championship by 99 points after achieving two third place finishes at round 7. Following his heavy fall during qualifying, Leon Camier did not compete in today’s races. After dropping back to 7th at the start of race one, Shane fought his way through the field to take 3rd position on lap 14 of 18. Shane was able to close the gap on the leading pair, crossing the line just 0.310 seconds behind James Ellison to take the final podium spot for Airwaves Ducati.

Sykes Takes Maiden Victory & Then Daily Double

Tom Sykes was long overdue a victory in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship having come close on several occasions and the Rizla Suzuki set the record straight with a dominant seventh round performance at Oulton Park where he completed the daily double. He had been on the pace throughout the weekend, missing out on pole by barely a quarter of a second, but with his team Sykes had worked hard to ensure that his bike was perfectly set for the two 18 laps races at the Cheshire circuit.
