Kawasaki enjoyed a successful afternoon at the biggest and most prestigious Motocross event of the year as Ryan Villopoto and Tim Ferry guided their KX250F and KX450Fs to help Team USA celebrate their eighteenth capture of the Chamberlain trophy in the 61st edition of the international Nations competition. Team GPKR’s Sebastien Pourcel was part of the French trio that gained second place. From the nine riders on the final podium, one third steered KX motorcycle technology.
As expected, the strong home team emerged winners of the Red Bull FIM Motocross of Nations competition at Budds Creek, Maryland, on Sunday after the competition returned to the USA for the first time in two decades. USA has won the competition more often in its 61 years of history than any other country and was also the defending champion. France was second in the three race event that matched the world's best riders across disciplines and Belgium took the minor podium place, with contributions from Jeremy van Horebeek on board a KTM machine.
This weekend's AMA Toyota Motocross at Budds Creek was a significant one for Team Makita Suzuki Racing as 15-time AMA Champion Ricky Carmichael carded his 100th AMA Motocross win while his team mate Ivan Tedesco successfully returned to racing after missing the first three rounds due to injury.
