Seasons Best Results for Taboo Motorsport

TABOO Motorsport returned to form at Cadwell Park with both riders posting their best results of the season to date. The team’s owner/rider Michael Hill narrowly missed out on a point bringing his FRS kitted machine home in 16th place after a race long battle with Stuart Elwood. 14 year old Max Thomas is TABOO Motorsport’s latest recruit and after benefiting from the team’s help at his home round at Knockhill two weeks ago he lined up in full TABOO livery for the first time over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Deane Brown Recaptures form for Team Appleyard/Macadam

Team Appleyard/Macadam’s fifteen year old rider Deane Brown put in an excellent performance this weekend to finish seventh at the Cadwell Park round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship. Still building his confidence and speed following his bad leg injury earlier in the season, Deane arrived at Cadwell Park following a morale boosting 4th place in one of the two Red Bull Moto GP Rookies Cup races a week earlier at the Brno circuit in Czechoslovakia. After a steady start in practice, Deane posted second quickest time in wet qualifying and eventually started the Relentless British 125GP Championship race from 10th place on the grid.

McAleer Bags Handful of Academy Cup Points at Knockhill

Teenager Nicole McAleer put the disastrous Oulton Park race weekend firmly behind her when she got a good start of the line at Knockhill during the Relentless 125 GP race; however this wasn't to be as the race only lasted one lap when two riders collided, both were unhurt.

Highs & Lows For Teenager

Omagh teenager Nicole McAleer hit a high on Saturday during the opening qualifying session when on an extremely damp and tricky Oulton Park track, she scorched through the field to end up on a front row starting position, in fourth place. Her highest grid position to date. However the much hoped for rain failed to materialise during the final session late on Saturday afternoon, thus in the dry conditions McAleer was more than disappointed to qualify further down the field in 27th position.

Thompson’s Twin Performances Lift Team Appleyard/Macadam

Seventeen year old Jordan Thompson flew the flag admirably for Team Appleyard/Macadam at the sixth round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship this weekend at Mallory Park with two excellent top ten rides. With team-mates Deane Brown still recovering from his leg operation and Ashley Beech forced to miss his race after destroying his bike in qualifying, Jordan rode to a season’s best 7th and 8th places to give the team a much needed lift.

Double Trouble for McAleer

With the 2008 British Superbike Championship hitting the half way point today at Mallory Park, Omagh School girl Nicole McAleer was hoping that the double header meeting would signal the perfect start to her school holidays. However luck was not on the teenager’s side this weekend, when her SP 125 Racing Honda seized in the final qualifying session on Saturday afternoon, after only four laps, thus relegating her down to 31st on the grid for the Mallory Park round, although she was due to start the Donington Park rescheduled round, which was held also today, on the third row of the grid.

McAleer & Heron Share the Stage at ‘Night of the Races’

With the BSB Championship almost at the half way stage this weekend at Mallory Park, the Omagh school girl Nicole McAleer is hoping to start her summer holidays off with a winning weekend on Friday 4th July, and not it is not the normal 125 race, but rather a ‘Night of the Races’ were both she and Newtownards Pre 97 Clubman’s rider Steven Heron are hoping to make a few pounds to keep the two of the one the track for the second half of the season. The evening will be held in the Windsor Bar, Bangor, Co Down and the starters flag is due to start on the first of the bike races at 8pm sharp. With the evening pack full of racing and a chat show involving both McAleer and Heron also side local Irish Superbike Championship runners Kirk Jamison and Michael Pearson, along with a Dutch auction and tombola it should be an evening of entertainment to remember.

TABOO Motorsport: BSB Round 4 Review

Taboo Motorsport had an up and down weekend at the 4th round of the British 125cc championship at Snetterton. With both riders boosted by the improved performance of their FRS kitted machines the scene looked set for the teams’ first points of the season.

McAleer Best Race this Season

Following on from her brief test session at Mallory Park on Wednesday, Nicole McAleer and her SP125 Racing team noticed that her 125 Honda frame was bent, possibly due to her big off at Donington Park during qualifying. On discovering this problem the teenager was forced to change to a new frame and during the free practice sessions and the first qualifying session struggled with the feel of the new frame. She said; “it doesn’t feel like my bike! However after the final qualifying session on Saturday were she was happy enough to qualify in 24th on the grid, as she was feeling much more comfortable with her machinery at this stage and having gone more than a second quicker during the final session, she knew she would be able to improve during the race on Sunday.

Beech Boost for Team Appleyard/Macadam at Snetterton

At the fifth round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship this weekend, Team Appleyard/Macadam rider Ashley Beech put in his best performance of the season by finishing 7th in the Fuchs-Silkolene British Supersport Championship race. Teammate Jordan Thompson also performed well, finishing 13th in the Relentless British 125GP class to equal his best result of the season. In earlier qualifying, the team had made key changes to the geometry of Ashley’s Yamaha R6 which vastly improved the ‘feel’ of the bike and gave him more grip. This translated into better mid corner and exit speed - vital through the ultra fast corners of the Snetterton circuit. Ashley eventually qualified in 8th place, just 0.6 seconds off the pole time, earning him a second row grid position.

Byrne to Continue Early Season Domination

Shane Byrne is the rider in form in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship and he intends to continue his dominant run in the country’s premier series in the fourth round at the Donington Park grand prix circuit on Spring Bank Holiday Monday 26th May. The Airwaves Ducati rider has won four of the six races so far, finishing second in the other two, as he bids to regain the crown he won some five years ago, but he feels that his record should be better, having missed out on completing a second winning double of the season at Brands Hatch.

Michael Hill on His Way to Another Top 20

Taboo Motorsport and its riders Michael Hill and Dan Moreton continued their early season form in the 3rd round of the British 125cc GP Championship at Brands Hatch earlier today. The grid for the 14 lap race was set at what should have been the opening round of the series so both riders used Saturday’s free practice sessions to further develop their 2008 machines. Both riders lapped over 1.5 seconds faster than when they originally qualified for the event.

Team Appleyard/Macadam Primed for Oulton Action

With the second round of the British Superbike Championship at Oulton Park just a few days away, Team Appleyard/Macadam is primed and ready for action. At the last round at Thruxton, Deane Brown led the GP125 race and was in contention for top honours but failed to finish so he is eager to make amends at the Cheshire circuit. With his season in BSB GP125 being mixed with a regular ride in the Red Bull Moto GP Rookies Cup, Deane is already having a busy season but is riding extremely well, especially considering that he has only just celebrated his 15th birthday.

Battling Harris Bounces Back & Promises an Upset

Shane Byrne and Cal Crutchlow power into the Holiday Monday round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship on level terms but as they plan their tactics for riding the picturesque Oulton Park circuit they need to take check the form of both Michael Rutter and Karl Harris. Rutter excelled in the recent Thruxton round, bagging a pair of thirds on the North West 200 Ducati while Harris, still sporting the bruises from his heavy crash last time out, has a good record at the Cheshire circuit, recording his best ever Superbike result, second, there last July.

Strong Start For Taboo Motorsport

The Taboo Motorsport team had its first successful race weekend of the season with Michael Hill and new signing Dan Moreton both finishing on the podium at the North East Championship round at Croft this weekend. Following the official team launch on Friday the 28th March, Hill and Moreton took to the track to secure second and third places respectively on the grid during qualifying. They faced tough competition due to a strong field containing a total of six British 125GP riders.

Progress for Hill at Taboo Racing

Taboo Motorsport's Michael Hill had a very productive two day test at the Bennetts British Superbikes pre season test as Snetterton. On board his RS125 Honda, Hill improved his lap time by a second and a half and was pleased with his personal progress.
