Think! Motorcycle Academy Enjoys High Profile Nec Bike Show And Scoops Award For Best Trade Stand

The THINK! Motorcycle Academy enjoyed a hugely successful debut appearance at the 2007 International Motorcycle and Scooter Show, which came to a close on Sunday night at the NEC in Birmingham. The Academy, which is designed to promote the government’s road safety message and encourage riders to ‘Give their bike the skills it deserves’, scooped the award for ‘Best Trade Stand’ while attracting tens of thousands of visitors during the ten-day event.

DfT ‘Think!’ Rural Speed Campaign

The Motorcycle Action Group (MAG UK) supports the new Government ‘Think!’ campaign to raise motorist’s awareness of the dangers of speeding on rural roads. The campaign highlights that in rural areas accidents often involve single vehicles suggesting that drivers are travelling in excess of the speed limit or travelling too fast for conditions. In 2006 325 car drivers were killed on rural roads. As vulnerable road users motorcyclists are often the victims of dangerous, careless and aggressive driving which is exacerbated when that driver behaviour takes place on narrow roads with high hedgerows and limited visibility.

The New Motorcycle Test - Meet The Trainers And Examiners

The new motorcycle test - which is being introduced next year by the Driving Standards Agency - will be promoted at a unique event organised by the Motorcycle Rider Training Association at Stoke-on-Trent on 1 July. The Motorcycle Rider Training Association will be supported by Driving Standards Agency motorcycle experts, National BikeSafe, Road Safety Organisations and European stunt riding champion Craig Jones to help demonstrate the new test, which is being introduced in October 2008 as a road safety initiative.

Try a BMW at the National BikeSafe weekend

Enthusiasts will be able to try the new BMW R1200 GS Adventure and K1200 GT motorcycles for size this weekend as BMW Motorrad UK heads to the famous Cheltenham Racecourse for this year's National BikeSafe event. The annual event is a prime opportunity for riders to test the latest models from the 2006 BMW Motorrad model line-up and embark on an informative and fun BikeSafe assessed riding experience, for free.
