The Kawasaki Motors UK supported team will once again run with Chris Martin who will be joined on the grid by former British Superbike rider Ben Wilson. 2009 Yamaha WSB riders Ben Spies and Tom Sykes enjoyed a successful two day test at Portimao with their new team. The riders used the time to develop both their relationships with their new team and also to make a start on the development of the all-new 2009 Yamaha YZF-R1 race bike. Day one of testing was spent mostly riding the 2008 WSB machines, giving both riders the opportunity to learn the highly technical Portimao circuit which opened for the first time last weekend for the last round of the 2008 World Superbike Championship.

Ben Wilson - Brands Hatch Final Rounds

Ben Wilson gave it his all in both races at Brands Hatch on Sunday, finishing a fighting second in the final round of the 2008 Henderson Yamaha R1 Cup and a close fourth in the final of the Metzeler National Superstock championship to clinch and overall second place in the R1 Cup and fifth in the Superstock series.

It will be a tense weekend for Ben Wilson, as he will have to pull out all the stops in an attempt to win the Henderson R1 Autumn Cup on Sunday in the final round of the championship at Brands Hatch. There is just one point separating him from Jon Kirkham who holds the lead and the Boston rider knows he must beat Kirkham and ideally win the race to lift the trophy.

Graves Motorsports Ben Bostrom Wins the 2008 AMA Supersport Championship

Graves Motorsports racer Ben Bostrom won the 2008 AMA Supersport championship with a gutsy second-place finish in the series’ final round at Laguna Seca in Monterey, Calif. on Sunday, Sept. 28. The championship is Bostrom’s third career title (to go with his Supermoto and Superbike honors) and the first in the Supersport class for Yamaha’s YZF-R6 since 2006. Teammate Josh Herrin made a strong run to the podium to finish third and wind up the season solidly in fifth.

Ben Spies Signs with Yamaha WSB for 2009

American racing sensation Ben Spies has signed up to the Yamaha factory World Superbike Team to partner 23 yr old British rider Tom Sykes for the 2009 season. The 24yr old American rider from Dallas is fresh from a record third championship win in a row, taking the AMA Superbike Championship crown again for 2008. Spies is only the fourth rider in the history of AMA Superbike to win three consecutive titles and 3rd on the all-time AMA Superbike wins list with a total of 28 AMA Superbike wins. This now completes the Yamaha World Superbike team for 2009.

Spies Shines in the Indy Gloom

Rizla Suzuki MotoGP wildcard racer Ben Spies rode to a superb sixth place in atrocious conditions during the inaugural Indianapolis Grand Prix today. Spies pushed hard all race as he was involved in a battle for fourth place with reigning World Champion Casey Stoner and Andrea Dovizioso. The new AMA Superbike Champion looked set to make an attack on both riders towards the end of the race, but conditions deteriorated so dramatically after 20 laps the race was stopped, and the result was declared as it stood at that time.

The three-pronged Rizla Suzuki attack will be rolling out on to Gasoline Alley to take on the high-speed boulevards of the famous Indianapolis Speedway on Friday 12th September for two free practice sessions. This will be followed by another practice on Saturday morning and then the all-action qualifying session in the afternoon. Sunday’s 28-lap race gets underway at 14.00hrs local time (18.00hrs GMT) when all three Rizla racers will be gunning for glory.

Graves Motorsports Ben Bostrom finished a respectable third-place in Sunday's Supersport race at Road Atlanta, following an early incident at turn 7 that sent multiple riders (including Graves rider Tommy Aquino) to the sidelines and immediately red-flagged the race. After the restart, Ben cruised much of the race to finish on podium.

Rockstar Makita Suzuki Factory Racing completely dominated the AMA Superbike Championship weekend at Road Atlanta, following up Saturday's Suzuki clean-sweep with another such victory on Sunday afternoon in Braselton, Georgia. The all-Rockstar Makita Suzuki podium saw two-time and defending AMA Superbike Champion Ben Spies in the top spot with six-time AMA Superbike Champion Mat Mladin in second position and team mate Tommy Hayden in third.

Ben Wilson Second at Cadwell

Ben Wilson rode to a fine second place in the Henderson R1 Cup, following up with a fifth in the Metzeler National Superstock race at his home track of Cadwell Park on Bank Holiday Monday. Going in to the Cadwell round of the R1 Cup, Wilson was leading the Autumn Cup by nine clear points and was hoping for another win in the series to extend his lead further. But the overall series leader Jon Kirkham was in fine form and dominated the weekend throughout practice and qualifying to claim pole position for the start of the planned 12-lap race.

Kirkham Picks up Another Victory

Derby's Jon Kirkham extended his Championship lead as the ninth round of the Henderson Yamaha R1 Cup suffered two red flag incidents at Cadwell Park (25th August). Kirkham muscled through from his seventh pole position to claim the holeshot ahead of the determined Ben Wilson and Sam Warren at the start of the 12 lap race. As Kirkham looked to extend his lead over Wilson, Gary Mason capitalised with superior drive out of Charlies to claim third from Sam Warren. Edging a clear section of tarmac behind him, Mason settled into a rhythm while Warren continued to hold off the constant pressure from Adrian Coates, Connor Cummins and Dan Hegarty.

Rockstar Makita Suzuki Factory Racing dominated Saturday's AMA Superbike race in the double-header weekend at Virginia International Raceway in Alton, Virginia. The 28-lap race started with an all-Suzuki front row of the grid and ended with a Rockstar Makita Suzuki podium sweep.
