Haga Grabs First Superpole of the Year at Magny-Cours

Noriyuki Haga’s exceptional end-of-season run of form continues at Magny-Cours this weekend as the Yamaha Motor Italia WSB rider powered to the Superpole for tomorrow’s French Round races with a new best lap of 1 minute 38.444 seconds. For the Japanese rider, who notched up a double win here last year and another double two weeks ago at Vallelunga, it was his first pole of the season and his sixth overall. The one-lap dash was a hard-fought affair, with the top 4 ending up in the space of three-tenths of a second and four different bikes on the front row from Yamaha, Suzuki, Ducati and Honda. Lining up alongside Haga will be Fonsi Nieto (Suzuki Alstare), the Spaniard producing his best performance of the year, followed by championship leader Troy Bayliss (Ducati Xerox) and Carlos Checa (Hannspree Ten Kate Honda).

Front Row Start for Veneman

World Supersport:??RES Software Hoegee Suzuki's Barry Veneman will start tomorrow's World Supersport Championship race from the front row after setting second-fastest time this afternoon.?? Although Veneman was searching for the right settings of his Suzuki GSX-R600 K8 during the morning session, he showed in the afternoon from the beginning that he was able deal with the fastest riders. ??Team mate Didier Van Keymeulen set a good time with sixth fastest in the morning and in the afternoon secured 10th place on the starting grid.

'Wild Card' Sykes Gets Donington Podium

Rizla Suzuki's Tom Sykes kept his cool during a red-flagged aggregated race one at the 11th round of the World Superbike Championship at Donington Park today to take a close second place to Troy Bayliss after leading for a large part of the race.

Bayliss Leads the Way at Donington as BSB Riders Make Their Mark

Troy Bayliss (Ducati Xerox) led the way in qualifying at a cold and wet Donington Park circuit as a group of British Superbike wild-card riders made a good impression on the first day of action. The 39 year-old Australian, who has never actually won at the Leicestershire track, clocked a time of 1 minute 44.377 seconds to hold the overnight pole from Brands Hatch winner Ryuichi Kiyonari (Hannspree Ten Kate Honda). The Japanese rider, British champion for the last two years, was one-tenth behind Bayliss in second but a fraction ahead of a trio of current BSB riders headed by Cal Crutchlow (HM Plant Honda), Tom Sykes (Rizla Suzuki) and Leon Haslam (HM Plant Honda).

Bayliss Dominates With Double Victory at Brno

Troy Bayliss (Ducati Xerox) bounced back to the winner’s podium after a gap of eight races with a dominant double victory at the Brno circuit in the Czech Republic. The points leader took his seventh and eighth wins of the season in front of 63,000 spectators, and this was the fifteenth time the Australian has picked up the ‘double’. The ninth round of the season also saw great performances by his team-mate Michel Fabrizio, twice on the podium, and by Max Biaggi (Sterilgarda Go Eleven Ducati), third in race 2, while Troy Corser (Yamaha Motor Italia WSB) was also in good form in the two races.
