Big Disappointment For Xavi
08 October 2007
Team Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra rider Xavier Simeon suffered a huge disappointment in the final round of this years Superstock 1000 FIM Cup, when a gearbox problem caused him to pull out of the race after just one lap. Before the race, Xavi was ready to go all-out for a win in the 12-lapper and keep his title hopes alive. But on the first lap, he knew there was a problem and had to pull in. Ayrton Badovini (MV) won todays race, with Claudio Corti (Yamaha) second. Ducati rider Niccolo Canepas third place today was enough to give him the title - by just four points.

Biaggi Challenges For Title
03 October 2007
Max Biaggi and Team Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra head to this weekend's final World Superbike round at Magny Cours on a mission to lift the title. Following the Italian's victory and second place at Vallelunga, he lies 29 points behind series leader James Toseland, but any slip-up by the Briton could give him a chance of taking the title. Biaggi had his first ever outing on the GSX-R1000 at Magny-Cours at the end of last season so is no stranger to the track, but since then the bike has developed a lot so he will have to work hard to find a good set-up in practice and qualifying. Nonetheless he and the team are ready for the challenge and hoping to end the season on a high.

New Territory For Xavier Siméon
24 September 2007
After a difficult German weekend, during which he had to defy the pain barrier because of a nasty ankle injury, to take fifth, Xavier Siméon is now fully recovered and ready to take on his adversaries on their own turf. The Superstock 1000 armada travels to the Italian racetrack of Vallelunga for the tenth round of the championship, with five riders within a 25-point victory of the top spot! But unlike many of his colleagues, who also happen to be his closest rivals in the overall standings, it will be Xavi’s first time at the racetrack located near Rome and considered by many fans of his team-mate Max Biaggi as “the Roman Emperor’s den”. Nevertheless, now that his ankle problems are just a bad memory, Francis Batta’s protégé knows he can attack the penultimate round of this exciting FIM Superstock Championship in top mental and physical condition.

Max Ready For A Warm Welcome
24 September 2007
Team Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra head to the twelfth round of this years championship at Vallelunga, near Rome, anticipating a good result for Max Biaggi. Maxs hometown is Rome and a huge turn out of fans is expected at the track, situated fifteen minutes or so from the Italian capital. Although, it will be a home race for Max, he has not raced there for over ten years! He has tested at Vallelunga two times - once last November and in July this year - but knows that the weekend ahead will not be an easy one, as the other top teams have also tested there. His team mate Yukio also took part in the July tests, but the coming race weekend will be a hard one as he has not yet fully recovered from his recent knee and hand injuries.

Xavier Defies The Pain Barrier To Take 5th!
10 September 2007
Team Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra rider Xavi Simeon spent the whole 14-lap Superstock 1000 FIM Cup race in agony, but somehow defied the pain to take a tremendous fifth place. The problem with his left ankle once again flared up, and after a couple of laps he was struggling to maintain his place and concentration. Somehow he kept going and in the end finished fifth, but less then two and a half seconds behind the race winner Didier Van Keymeulen (Yamaha). Second was Niccolo Canepa (Ducati), with Claudio Corti (Yamaha) third. But with series leader Matteo Baiocco (Yamaha) finishing eighth, it means that the gap between him and Xavi at the top of the table is now reduced to nine points.

Two Podiums For Max
10 September 2007
Team Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra rider Max Biaggi took podiums in both 24-lap races at the Eurospeedway Lausitz today. He took a superb second place in race one and then followed it up with a third in race two. Max’s team mate Yukio Kagayama was unable to take part in proceedings today due to a hand injury sustained yesterday. His wrist was badly swollen this morning, so he went to the Clinica Mobile this morning for a check-up. X-rays of his right wrist revealed that he had a fracture of his fifth metacarpal and so was unable to race.

Front Row For Xavier!
09 September 2007
Team Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra rider Xavi Simeon clocked the fourth quickest time in qualifying and will start tomorrow’s Superstock 1000 race from the front row of the grid. Fortunately, Xavi did not have any problems with his ankle today and was able to ride his bike without discomfort. Because of today’s damp conditions, all the lap times to determine the grid were taken from yesterday’s qualifying session. That meant Niccolo Canepa (Ducati) is on pole position, with Claudio Corti (Yamaha) second and Didier Van Keymeulen (Yamaha) third and Xavi fourth.

Top Three For Yukio On Day One
08 September 2007
Team Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra rider Yukio Kagayama ended the first day of qualifying at the Eurospeedway Lausitz with the third fastest time. The Japanese rider was suffering a little from sore ligaments in his right knee (sustained when he crashed at Brands Hatch in the last round), but still managed to get on the pace right from the start. His team mate Max Biaggi finished the day with the seventh quickest time, but was not pushing his GSX-R1000 hard as he had not found a comfortable set-up in today’s two sessions. Troy Bayliss (Ducati) took provisional pole, with a lap of 1:38.569, in the closing stages of this afternoon’s timed qualifying. His fellow countryman Troy Corser (Yamaha) is second quickest, two tenths of a second behind, with Noriyuki Haga (Yamaha) in fourth - just behind Yukio.

Xavier Hoping For Birthday Present In Germany
04 September 2007
It was Team Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra rider Xavier Siméon’s birthday recently and the Belgian rider is hoping to celebrate it in style by taking first place in this weekend’s round of the FIM Superstock 1000 Championship in Lausitz, Germany. Needless to say though, all his opponents will be trying to spoil Xavier’s party at the German racetrack. However the talented Belgian is aiming to continue his recent good form (three podiums, including a hard-fought win in Brno - in the last three races) and make life difficult for them.

Team Alstare Refreshed
04 September 2007
After a five week break, Team Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra are refreshed and ready for the eleventh round of this year’s Superbike World Championship at the Eurospeedway Lausitz. The 4.3 kilometre long track is part of one of the biggest and modern racetracks in the world and only opened for business in 2000. Team Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra riders tested at the track in June this year, so at least this is one circuit that Max Biaggi will not be seeing for the first time. His team mate Yukio took a superb win in the first race last year and a fine fourth in the second and will be hoping for more of the same this year.

Xavier Takes Second In The Sun At Brands
07 August 2007
In scorchingly hot conditions, Team Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra rider Xavier Simeon continued his run of good form with a superb second place at Brands Hatch today. And if it were not for a poor start and a problem getting past Claudio Corti (Yamaha), there is little doubt that Xavi would have challenged Niccolo Canepa (Ducati) for the victory. Getting past Corti cost Xavi the best part of two seconds, yet he was just six tenths of a second behind Canepa when the Italian took the chequered flag. Third place went to Corti, with Matteo Baiocco (Yamaha) fourth, Brendan Roberts (Ducati) fifth and Ayrton Badovini (MV) sixth.

A Podium For Max In His First Race At Brands
07 August 2007
Team Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra rider Max Biaggi took a superb third place in his first ever race at Brands Hatch in front of a huge sun- baked crowd of over 100,000. The Roman was confident of following that up in the second race, but was judged to have moved before the start and was given a drive-though penalty. He had been well-placed in fourth position at the time, but dropped to sixteenth because of the penalty. After he rejoined the race, he managed to claw his way up to eighth place before the 25-lap race was over.

Front Row For Yukio, 2nd Row For Max
05 August 2007
The superb weather continued at Brands Hatch today and both Team Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra riders Yukio Kagayama improved their positions in the Superpole shoot-out qualifying session. Yukio finished fourth fastest overall and will start from the front row of the grid for the first time this season and Max showed he too will be a force to be reckoned with after a stunning Superpole lap. Despite his relative lack of circuit knowledge, he managed to shave over a second off his previous best lap time to end sixth quickest. Troy Bayliss (Ducati) put in a blistering Superpole lap to deprive James Toseland (Honda) from taking top spot in front of his home fans. Third quickest is Noriyuki Haga (Yamaha), with Yukio fourth, making it four different manufacturers on the front row.

Steady Start for Team Alstare
05 August 2007
Team Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra riders Yukio Kagayama and Max Biaggi made a steady start on the first day of qualifying at Brands Hatch yesterday. Yukio finished eighth quickest and Max ended the day fourteenth, but both are confident of significant improvement tomorrow. Yukio spent the day getting used to his Alstare Suzuki again after his Suzuka 8 hour success on a very different GSX-R1000 and took things steadily as a result. Max has never raced at Brands Hatch before, so used the time yesterday learning one of the most difficult tracks on the calendar. Series leader James Toseland (Honda) topped the standings yesterday - much to the delight of his home fans - with Troy Bayliss (Ducati) second, Ruben Xaus (Ducati) third and Troy Corser (Yamaha) fourth.
