No Joy for Max, Fonsi or Yukio

The bad weather continued at Donington today and Max, Fonsi and Yukio continued to suffer with grip problems throughout the day. This morning’s qualifying session was very wet and Suzuki Alstare riders Fonsi Nieto and Yukio Kagayama struggled to get into the top sixteen for Superpole right from the start. In the end, neither made the cut and were left languishing in 23rd and 24th places respectively

Superb Pole for Xavi!

Team Alstare Suzuki rider Xavi Simeon defied the atrocious conditions at Donington today to take pole position for tomorrow’s eleventh round of this year’s Superstock FIM Cup. The young Belgian mastered the slippery 4.023 kilometre circuit, to post a lap of 1:45.860, over two tenths of a second ahead of his nearest rival, Chris Seaton (Suzuki). Third quickest is Jon Kirkham ((Yamaha), with Alessandro Polita (Ducati) fourth

Heavy rain at Donington causes caution today.

Donington was awash with rain today and a soaking wet, slippery track greeted the riders in both sessions. Team Suzuki Alstare riders Fonsi Nieto and Yukio Kagayama and Team Alstare Suzuki rider Max Neukirchner took things cautiously, finishing 16th, 19th and 23rd, mainly due to problems with lack of rear grip. Series leader Troy Bayliss splashed his way round the 4.023 kilometre track and recorded the day’s best time - 1:44.377. Second quickest is Ryuichi Kiyonari (Honda), with Cal Crutchlow (Honda) third and Tom Sykes (Suzuki) fourth.

Xavi Second! Resch Dominates in the Wet!

Team Alstare Suzuki rider Xavi Simeon ended the first day of qualifying with the second quickest time despite difficult conditions. Heavy rain battered the 4.023 kilometre throughout the day, ensuring that the track was slippery in both sessions. Brendan Roberts (Ducati) set the day’s fastest lap, just a tenth of a second or so quicker then Xavi. Third is Jon Kirkham (Yamaha), with Chris Seaton (Suzuki) fourth.

Disaster For Xavi!

The seventh round of this year’s Superstock 1000 FIM Cup will be one to forget for Xavi and Team Alstare Suzuki. Xavi had hoped to maintain his title challenge and put pressure on Maxime Berger (Honda) and Brendan Roberts (Ducati) but was sidelined even before the first lap of the race! On his inspection lap, Xavi’s bike suffered a fuel problem and the bike spluttered to a halt on the track. Xavi asked the cornerworkers to get the bike back to the pits, so that the problem could be rectified but the cornerworkers would not arrange for the bike to be transported back and so Xavi was unable to line up on the grid for the race. Berger won the race, with Morais (Kawasaki) second, Antonelli third (Honda) and Roberts fourth and Xavi is now third in the title standings, fourteen points behind Berger and Roberts.

Max Maintains 2nd In Championship on Difficult Day at Brands

The unseasonal weather interrupted proceedings at Brands Hatch today, but somehow both 24-lap races took place with all riders on slick tyres. Race one was delayed because of a rain shower as the teams lined up on the grid, but the track dried out and the race got under away after fifteen minutes or so. Team Suzuki Alstare rider Yukio Kagayama took fourth place, with team mate Fonsi Nieto fifth. Team Alstare Suzuki rider Max Neukirchner struggled with a tyre problem, but still came home in seventh place. Japanese rider Ryuichi Kiyonari (Honda) won the race, his first ever WSBK win, with Troy Bayliss (Ducati) second and Max Biaggi (Ducati) third.

Front Row for Xavi!

Team Alstare Suzuki rider Xavi Simeon set the fourth quickest lap of final qualifying today and will start on the front row of the grid in tomorrow’s 14-lap race. In the afternoon qualifying Xavi took a tumble and banged his right ankle. He was taken to the Clinica Mobile, but no breaks were revealed, though his ankle was heavily swollen. But Xavi is determined to race tomorrow and will be going all-out for a podium. Frenchman Maxime Berger (Honda) took pole position, with a lap of 1:28.879. Second Michele Pirro (Yamaha), with Brendan Roberts (Ducati) third.

Wet Superpole Causes Confusion

Just before the start of Superpole, rain began to fall on the Brands Hatch circuit and so the organisers decided that the 16-rider shoot-out would be a “Wet Superpole”, giving the riders 50 minutes and a maximum of twelve laps to set their fastest lap times. Team Suzuki Alstare rider Yukio Kagayama was one of the few riders to venture out on the wet track, whilst most of the others stayed in their pitboxes waiting to see if the rain would stop and the track dry out for the end of the session. The rain did stop, the sun came out and the track dried sufficiently for everybody to use slicks at the end of the session.

Xavi Disappointed With 5th

Team Alstare Suzuki rider Xavi Simeon left Brno circuit, disappointed to have finished fifth in today's race. The bike's set-up, which worked well for 2-3 laps in practice and qualifying, did not perform as well over the 12-lap race and Xavi was left hanging on to the leaders as best he could. Frenchman Maxime Berger (Honda) won the race, with Brendan Roberts (Ducati) second and Alessandro Polita (Ducati) third. The win by Roberts sees him take the championship lead away from Xavi, but only by one point!

No Joy for Fonsi, Yukio or Max in Brno

Brno was neither a good round, nor a bad round, for Suzuki Alstare riders Fonsi Nieto and Yukio Kagayama and Alstare Suzuki rider Max Neukirchner. Before today's races began, there were high hopes for a couple of podiums at least, but various problems dashed the team's hopes and they left the Czech Republic without any silverware to show for all the efforts. Max finished the day the top Suzuki rider, with a seventh in race one and a fifth in race two. Yukio, still not at 100% because of his left hand, bagged a pair of ninth places and Fonsi ended 14th in race one (after a fall) and eighth in race two. Both today's races, which took the all-time tally of WSBK races to 500, were won by runaway series leader Troy Bayliss (Ducati). Ducati dominated the podiums, with only Troy Corser (Yamaha), finishing second in the first race, spoiling their clean sweep.

Team Suzuki Alstare rider Fonsi Nieto finished seventh quickest in Superpole and will start tomorrow's pair of 20-lap races from the second row of the grid. His team mate Yukio Kagayama will be just behind on row three, with Alstare Suzuki rider Max Neukirchner alongside him. Ducatis dominated the front row of the grid, with Troy Bayliss taking his fourth Superpole of the year. His fellow countryman Troy Corser (Yamaha) is second, with Michel Fabrizio (Ducati) third and Max Biaggi (Ducati) fourth.

Fonsi Quickest of Suzuki Trio

Team Suzuki Alstare rider Fonsi Nieto finished the first day of qualifying at Brno today with the sixth fastest time and ended the quickest of the Belgium based squad. Team Alstare Suzuki rider Max Neukirchner ended with the ninth quickest time, but Suzuki Alstare rider Yukio Kagayama is still suffering problems with his left hand and could only manage eleventh. Local hero Jakub Smrz (Ducati) sent the home fans wild by topping the standings at the end of today's qualifying session. Second is Aussie Troy Corser (Yamaha), ahead of fellow countryman Troy Bayliss (Ducati), with Max Biaggi (Ducati) fourth.

Team Alstare Refreshed And Ready For Brno

One of the best-loved circuits on the calendar, Brno, is the scene for the next round of this year’s Superbike World Championship. The undulating circuit, situated in the Czech Republic is a demanding 5.503 kilometre track and will once again provide a stern test for all riders. Last year, Team Suzuki Alstare rider Yukio Kagayama took a superb third place in the first race and will be hoping for more of the same this weekend. Recently the track has been resurfaced and the grip improved so the first day of practice and qualifying will be new territory for all riders and technicians.

Max Delights The Home Fans By Storming To Superpole!

Team Alstare Suzuki rider Max Neukirchner delighted the home fans by taking Superpole at the Nurburgring. The young German had to dig deep to beat Troy Bayliss (Ducati) and Carlos Checa (Honda), but he lapped the 5.137 kilometre circuit without mistake to end with a time of 1:55.471 - three tenths of a second quicker then his nearest rival. Team Suzuki Alstare rider Fonsi Nieto had a Superpole to forget and finished 14th quickest, but team mate Yukio Kagayama missed Superpole completely! He crashed at the end of the free practice just before Superpole and hit his head and hand hard.

Front Row for Max

Team Alstare Suzuki rider Max Neukirchner rode steadily in this morning’s difficult conditions and then upped the pace in this afternoon’s dry qualifying session to end the day with the fourth quickest lap. Although he and some of the other riders have raced at the Nürburgring before, none have raced on the layout being used for this round of the Superbike World Championship. The morning session started wet and by the end there was just about a dry line and some riders were able to venture out on slicks. The afternoon qualifying took place in completely dry conditions and all 28 riders improved their lap times, with Aussie Troy Corser (Yamaha) ending fastest, with a lap of 1:57.257.

Another Superb Podium for Max!

Team Alstare Suzuki rider Max Neukirchner continued his good run of form with a hard fought for fourth place in race one at the Miller Motorsports Park today, before following it up with tremendous runner-up spot in race two. He was at the forefront in both races, had to give way to Carlos Checa (Honda) both times, but knows that his next victory is only a matter of time. Troy Corser (Yamaha) and Michel Fabrizio (Ducati) were second and third in race one and Fabrizio again took third spot in race two, behind Checa and Max. Team Suzuki Alstare riders Fonsi Nieto and Yukio Kagayama finished fifth and eighth respectively in race one and then reversed the positions in race two. Series leader Troy Bayliss had a day to forget - he crashed out of race one and finished out of the points in race two after being forced to pit and have his gearlever repaired.

Team Suzuki Alstare Learning the Way

Team Suzuki Alstare riders Fonsi Nieto, Yukio Kagayama together with Team Alstare Suzuki rider Max Neukirchner used the first day of practice and qualifying at the Miller Motorsports Park to learn their way round the track and get used to racing at high altitude. The 4.907 kilometre circuit is about 1500 metres above sea level and all the bikes are suffering a drop in performance as a result. At the end of the day, Fonsi had qualified sixth, Yukio seventh and Max fifteenth. Series leader Troy Bayliss (Ducati) is on provisional pole, ahead of fellow countryman Troy Corser (Yamaha), with Carlos Checa (Honda) third and Jake Smrz (Ducati) fourth.

Race fans worldwide are in for a surprise when Team Suzuki Alstare take part in the sixth round of the 2008 Superbike World Championship at Miller Motorsports Park in Utah next weekend. Tremendous Win for Xavi

Team Alstare Suzuki rider Xavier Simeon won the third round of the 2008 Superstock 1000 FIM Cup at Monza today after leading the race from start to finish. Xavi started from the third row of the grid, but made a superb start and was third going into the first corner. It was just as well that he was so far up the field, for behind him a rider had crashed braking for the turn and then skittled ten riders and their bikes! Despite there being bikes and riders all over the first chicane, by the time Xavi and the rest of the depleted field came round again the track was clear. Xavi then controlled the race from the front and ran out the winner by over two seconds, with Matej Smrz (Honda) second and Alessandro Polita (Ducati) third. Xavi’s win also moves him into first place in the championship, with a fifteen point lead over Polita.

Superb Debut Win for Max!

Team Alstare Suzuki rider Max Neukirchner took a superb maiden victory at Monza and also went into the record books for being the first German to win a World Superbike Championship race. Ever since Valencia, when he was cruelly robbed of victory on the last lap, Max has been ready to win and today he emphatically showed that he is a force to be reckoned with this year. Max was a race-long contender for a win in the second race, but was beaten to the line in a photo-finish with Noriyuki Haga (Yamaha). At the end, he was deprived of victory (and a remarkable double!) by just nine thousandths of a second! Haga took second place in race one, with Troy Bayliss (Ducati) third and Suzuki Alstare riders Yukio Kagayama and Fonsi Nieto fourth and seventh places respectively. Behind Haga and Neukirchner in race two, was Ryuichi Kiyonari (Honda) in third, followed by Fonsi Nieto. Yukio suffered a dramatic crash in the Ascari chicane after just four laps, hurting his ribs and right knee in the process.
