Arai has come out on top of the wide-ranging JD Power and Associates 2008 Motorcycle Helmet Satisfaction Study for the tenth consecutive year, further cementing the brand’s long-held position as the world’s best crash helmet. The J D Power study examines 11 key areas of owner satisfaction; ventilation/air flow, quietness, de-fogging, face shield draught-proofing, ease of replacement and scratch-resistance, colour/graphic design and scratch resistance of shell, strap fastening plus helmet weight and overall fit and comfort.

Ducati Coventry Takes Top Dealer Award

Ducati Coventry took the top honours amongst the UK dealers, when they were named Top UK Ducati dealership at the Annual Global Conference in Milan. Over 1000 delegates from Ducati dealerships all over the world were present at the 2 day Conference prior to the Eicma Milan Show. Amongst the highlights were the unveiling of three new models, the Monster 696, 848 and 1098R and the appearance of World MotoGP Champion Casey Stoner and former World Superbike Champion Troy Bayliss.

Suzuki GB has crowned the 2007 winners of the Guild of Technicians and Aftersales Advisors awards, with the two lucky winners scooping a brand new GSX-R750 each! Run annually to find the best technician and aftersales advisors within the Suzuki dealer network, the final competition saw Stephen Hauxwell of Bill Smith Motors emerge as ‘2007 Technician of the Year’ and Sallyanne Blackwell of Wylie & Holland taking the ‘Aftersales Advisors’ award.

Triumph’s Daytona 675 Scoops Supertest And Masterbike Awards… Again!

Triumph’s ground breaking Daytona 675 continues its award collecting route as it scoops both the Supertest and Masterbike awards for the second year running. This is a true testament to the motorcycle as the 2007 bike remains unchanged since its launch in 2006, yet still it saw off all the competition. The last week in March saw the Daytona 675 maintain the Supertest crown as King of Supersport bikes. The Supertest competition, held at the Almeria track in Spain, was judged by 15 journalists from publications all around the globe. The competition runs back-to-back tests for sports bikes from all the major motorcycle manufacturers. The Triumph Daytona 675 stormed into the top place in the engine flexibility, throttle response, chassis handling, chassis brakes, equipment and price categories, making it the overall winner for the second year on the run.

Motorcycle Delegates Presented With Management Certificates

Seven delegates from Suzuki’s motorcycle dealer network have been with a Certificate of Management in the Suzuki GB Aftersales Management Development Programme (AMDP), with Malcolm Wright from Colin Appleyards Motorcycles in Keighley named as Delegate of the Year. The Institute of the Motor Industry accredited training programme is designed to develop aftersales managers and supervisors within the Suzuki GB dealer network and combines workplace and classroom-based training over 12 months with all course content relating to real work issues.

National Recognition For Two-Wheeled Technicians

Major advances in technology have prompted a collective effort from the motorcycle industry to ensure technicians remain at the cutting edge of technical expertise for the benefit of increasing numbers of motorcyclists. Officially unveiled today, Tuesday 20 February 2007, Automotive Technician Accreditation (ATA) for motorcycles has been developed by the leading manufacturers, in association with the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI), the professional association for the motor industry, which governs the scheme and the Motor Cycle Industry Association (MCIA), which is endorsing the initiative.

We Hold Our Second Christmas Bash and Awards Ceremony!

It’s that Festive time of year again and londonbikers.com have just thrown their second official Christmas bash, which was held at the Held at the Brazen Head Pub in Paddington on the 20th December 2006. The night was full of fun and frivolities, seeing around sixty members attend. Infinity motorcycles donated a couple of bags of goodies which were raffled off, the proceeds will go to the London Air Ambulance. The night also included the Londonbikers.com Christmas Awards Ceremony.

Motorcycle Technician From Farnborough Is The Best In UK

Julian Cameron (46) has worked with motorcycles at the same Farnborough site for nearly 30 years and has entered and won many manufacturer technician competitions in that time. This verdict came from over 24,000 motorcycling enthusiasts who participated in a competition organised by the Italian magazine ‘Motociclismo’, which carried out, as it does every year, a survey among the visitors.

Villopoto Final Pro Racing Speed Athlete Of The Year Nominee

2006 AMA Toyota Motocross Lites Champion Ryan Villopoto has garnered the final nomination for this year’s AMA Pro Racing SPEED Athlete of the Year Award. Villopoto, an 18-year-old from Poulsbo, Wash., who rides for the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki team, is the youngest of this year’s nominees and is the first rookie to earn a nomination since fellow motocross racer James Stewart was nominated in his rookie pro season in 2002.

Leon Haslam Wins Man Of The Year Award

Leon Haslam won the most prestigious accolade of his career to date yesterday when he was voted Man of the Year at the MCN Awards. The award, which is voted for by MCN readers, has an impressive list of previous winners including John Surtees, Mike Hailwood, Giagomo Agostini and 2005 winner Valentino Rossi. Two ex GSE riders Neil Hodgson and James Toseland are also previous winners of the award. Leon follows in his dad, Ron’s, footsteps as he was awarded Man of the Year in 1981.

Superbike Champion Spies Earns Pro Racing Speed Athlete Of The Year Nomination

Fresh from winning the 2006 AMA Superbike Championship presented by Parts Unlimited, Ben Spies has learned that he is one of the honored nominees for the 2006 AMA Pro Racing SPEED Athlete of the Year Award. Spies earned the AMA Superbike title in only his second full year in the series and now the young rider from Longview, Texas, has earned his first nomination for AMA Pro Racing’s highest award.
