Simon Andrews Secures Donington ‘Airwaves Kick Up A Gear Award’

Simon Andrews, who rides for Lloyds British Jentin Yamaha, today won the ‘Airwaves KICK UP A GEAR Award’ for his outstanding performance in the British Superbike Championship round. Andrews, who qualified in 24th position, finished the first of the day’s two races in 10th position and then went one better in race two and finished 9th, making up a total of 29 places. The ‘Airwaves KICK UP A GEAR Award’ is presented to the rider who has gained the most places from their qualifying position at each race over the course of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship season.

Aaron Zanotti Secures Brands ‘Airwaves Kick up a Gear Award’

Aaron Zanotti, who rides for Red Viper Racing, today won the ‘Airwaves KICK UP A GEAR Award’ for his outstanding performance in the British Superbike Championship round. Zanotti, who lined up 25th on the grid for the two races at the 2.3 mile Kent circuit, finished 17th in race one and14th in race two, making up a total of 19 places. The ‘Airwaves KICK UP A GEAR Award’ is presented to the rider who has gained the most places from their qualifying position at each race over the course of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship season.

Morris Secures Oulton ‘Airwaves Kick Up A Gear Award’

Leon Morris, who rides for the Trimite Brookspeed team, today won the ‘Airwaves Kick Up A Gear Award’ for his outstanding performance in the British Superbike Championship round. Morris, who qualified in 31st position, fought his way through to finish 17th in a wet first race and then finished 24th in an action packed second race. Leon has enjoyed an upturn in performance thanks partly to his Airwaves Scholarship tuition from Airwaves Ducati team manager Colin Wright.

Wrigley Secure British Superbike Sponsorship

Wrigley has today announced that it has signed as an Official Partner of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship, which will see them launch the ‘Airwaves® Kick Up A Gear™ Award’ for the 2008 season. The sponsorship sees Wrigley reinforce their commitment to motorcycling in the UK, as they are already the title sponsor of the Airwaves® Ducati team who compete in the championship.

FIM Off-Road Awards 2007

The first of December was an unbelievable night at the Salle des Etoiles in Monaco, Monte Carlo. The third edition of the FIM Off-Road Awards was a superb celebration where all the Off-Road World and European Champions received their prize after an extremely tough but successful season of racing.

Cairoli & Demaria Accept World Championship Medals

The 2007 FIM Off-road Awards took place in the affluent setting of Monaco and the ‘Salle de Etoiles’ last Saturday and Yamaha De Carli’s Antonio Cairoli and Yamaha Demaria’s Yves Demaria proudly accepted their silverware for MX2-GP and MX3-GP world championship success respectively. In front of more than 400 guests that included former world championship legends like Jean-Michel Bayle and Roger de Coster, winners from both the Motocross and Supermoto World and European stages were given their accolades by the FIM and Youthstream.

Sykes Receives Rookie Of The Year Award

Rizla Suzuki’s Tom Sykes collected the Steve Hislop Memorial Trophy during the Bennetts British Superbike Awards at the International Motorcycle Show in Birmingham today. The trophy is awarded to the young rider who has improved the most over the season and this year it deservedly went to Sykes. In his debut British Superbike season he achieved six front row starts, one pole position and five podium finishes.
