Team Joe Rocket Suzuki rider Shawn Giles has closed to within three points of the Australian Superbike Championship lead, after finishing third overall in the third round at Victoria's Winton Motor Raceway on Sunday.

Jomo Dominates Thursday’s Free Testing

The Suzuki Yoshimura with Jomo 34 posted the fastest time in Thursday’s free tests at Suzuka with a lap of 2’08.585, a mark set by rider Kosuka Akiyoshi. His Suzuki was the only machine to have completed the 5,821 meter Japanese circuit under the 2’09 barrier. The next best time came from Katsuyuki Nakasuga on the Yamaha Racing 21 with 2’09.607, just ahead of the Honda HRC 33 who registered 2’09.948 thanks to its star rider Carlos Checa.

Yoshimura Suzuki Double Win

Team Yoshimura Suzuki rider Craig Coxhell claimed two thrilling race wins on his Suzuki GSX-R1000 in front of a record Australian Superbike Championship crowd of 12,500 spectators at Queensland Raceway's innovative double-header round at the weekend, moving to second on the championship points table with one round left to run. In an impressive outing for all three Team Yoshimura Suzuki riders at the Ipswich circuit, Coxhell, Shawn Giles and Josh Waters continued their recent run of strong form in the 2007 Australian Superbike and Supersport Championships with two race wins, a lap record and six further podium results in both classes. The double-header concept at the 3.12km circuit saw Round Six's two 16-lap races for each class conducted on Saturday with round seven's two races held on Sunday.

1st Victory For Suzuki GSX-R600

Team Yoshimura Suzuki rider Joshua Waters gave Suzuki's 2007-model GSX-R600 a stunning maiden win at round five of the Australian Supersport Championship at Launceston's Symmons Plains Raceway at the weekend. With a crowd of 5000 attending the Tasmanian event, Waters claimed a dominant 5.188sec win over defending Australian Supersport Champion Jamie Stauffer in the second of the day's two 20-lap Supersport races, moving to third overall in the eight-round national series.

Double Podiums For Yoshimura

Team Yoshimura Suzuki riders Shawn Giles, Craig Coxhell and Josh Waters continued their impressive start to the 2007 Australian Superbike and Supersport Championships with podium results in both classes at Winton Raceway's first double-header round at the weekend. The double-header concept saw the second round's two 17-lap races for each class conducted on Saturday and round three's on Sunday at the 3.0km Benalla circuit in Victoria.

Yoshimura Suzuki Men On The Podium

Team Yoshimura Suzuki riders Shawn Giles, Craig Coxhell and Joshua Waters all finished in podium positions in the Australian support races at the second round of the Superbike World Championship race meeting at Victoria's Phillip Island race circuit at the weekend. In a strong showing for the new-look team, Giles finished overall second in the Superbike class behind reigning Australian champion Jamie Stauffer, and like Stauffer was the only rider to secure a top-three result in all three Superbike races.

Mixed Season Opener For Suzuki

Team Yoshimura Suzuki endured a weekend of highs and lows at the opening round of the Australian Superbike and Supersport Championships at Sydney’s Eastern Creek Raceway at the weekend. The ‘high’ came in the Supersport class where new recruit Joshua Waters (pictured) scored fifth and fourth placings in the two 13-lap races to secure fourth overall on the Supersport Championship points table. It was an impressive debut in Suzuki colours for the 20-year-old with the Team Yoshimura Suzuki GSX-R600 still in the early stages of development.

Bugden and his team mate Shawn Giles wrapped up the 2006 season on a high note with both riders on the podium for the round, placing third and second respectively.

Bugden Races To 2nd At Winton

Team Yoshimura Suzuki’s Robbie Bugden raced to a stunning second place, while three-time champion Shawn Giles made a triumphant return from injury to finish fourth in round six of the Australian Superbike Championship at Winton Raceway on Sunday. Starting the weekend in very competitive fashion, Bugden qualified second while Giles was quick to get back up to speed and was fourth fastest, putting both Suzukis on the front row of the grid.

Injured Giles Pulls Out Of Mallala

Three-time Australian Superbike Champion, Shawn Giles was forced to withdraw from round three of the Australian Superbike Championship at Mallala Raceway in South Australia at the weekend. Injuries sustained in last weekend’s Australian Superbike clash at Barbagallo Raceway proved insurmountable for the Suzuki star and he withdrew from both races after completing only six laps in the first qualifying session.

Giles Injured At Barbagallo

Three-time Australian Superbike rider Shawn Giles suffered a broken foot and a laceration to his arm in a heavy crash during round two of the 2006 series at Barbagallo Raceway, Western Australia, yesterday. The Suzuki star crashed from the lead as a result of oil on the track left by a back-marker who also crashed only moments earlier. Left with nowhere to go, Giles’ GSX-R1000 hit the oil and the 35-year-old was sent skidding feet first into the sand.
