Bennetts British Superbike 2007 Audi-Forum Launch

With only six days to go until the first race of the season, this morning saw the launch of the 2007 Bennetts British Superbikes season kick off with an open air bus tour around London’s West End for this year’s racers. The Audi Forum in Piccadilly was the meeting place, with the entire superbike cast and crew in attendance, Foxy and Jay were also there to bring you some exclusive pictures and a few words from this year’s hottest contenders.

Airwaves Haslam On Pole

Leon Haslam has won the Audi Quattro Performance award for the season’s best qualifying results after achieving pole position at Brands Hatch today. Leon recorded the fastest time of the day, 1:26.558, just as the rain started to fall with a crucial 11 minutes of qualifying remaining; as a result his time remained unchallenged for the rest of the session, resulting in pole position and a £50,000 car!

Final Round Brand Hatch - 30 September/1 October

Leon Haslam starts the title deciding final round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship, at Brands Hatch, from pole position, with his two rivals for the sport’s premier crown, Gregorio Lavilla and Ryuichi Kiyonari starting from the second row of the grid. Their hopes of matching, or bettering, the time of Haslam were ended by a light rain shower in the closing minutes of the session in which the 23 year old Derbyshire rider enjoyed topping the qualifying leaderboard for the fifth time this season to clinch the Audi Performance Award which rewards consistent speed in the grid deciding session over all 13 rounds.

Bennetts BSB Press Launch 2006

The 2006 Bennetts British Superbike Championship was launched in the prestigious Audi Forum with a fast moving presentation of the major players in the world's toughest domestic series and then a special eye-catching London lap. Gregorio Lavilla detailed his plans to retain the crown for a second year, though he admits his young Airwaves Ducati team-mate Leon Haslam will be a force to be reckoned with amid the toughest ever entry for the series.
