Top Ten For Both Barros & Hofmann In Assen
30 June 2007
The ninth championship appointment saw the Pramac d’Antin riders participate in the Dutch TT event at the Assen circuit in the Netherlands. Despite predictions, it was a dry race that enabled the Italian-Spanish Team to obtain important points for the Championship. Both Alex Barros and Alex Hofmann achieved top ten results finishing the 26-lap race in seventh and eighth places respectively, but despite the good results, neither rider was completely satisfied and had hoped for better results.

Hayden Storms From 13th To The Podium
30 June 2007
Repsol Honda’s Nicky Hayden made a dramatic return to the podium at the Dutch TT on Sunday as he brilliantly converted 13th on the grid into third place at the chequered flag. The World Champion made a fantastic start from the fifth row and rode round the outside of nearly half the MotoGP field to arrive at the first corner in fourth place. By the end of the first lap he’d dropped to sixth but then began to pick off positions, riding with renewed aggression and confidence aboard his RC212V.

Stoner Scores Strong Podium At Assen
30 June 2007
Ducati Marlboro Team rider Casey Stoner finished a strong second in this afternoon's windswept Dutch TT to preserve his World Championship lead as the 2007 MotoGP series reached half-distance. Team-mate Loris Capirossi had a tougher day at Assen, entering the pits with nine laps remaining. Stoner dominated much of the race after a brilliant start from the front row of the grid. But he was troubled somewhat by the windy conditions and couldn't quite fend off Valentino Rossi in the closing laps. Capirossi was involved in some hectic tussles with a bunch of rivals until his GP7 began to suffer possible clutch slip, currently being investigated by his crew. Both riders left Assen in a hurry this afternoon, flying from nearby Groningen to Rimini in Italy to appear at the big World Ducati Week event currently taking place at Misano.

30 June 2007
Valentino Rossi (Fiat Yamaha Team YZR-M1-Michelin) scored his third victory of the year in stunning style at Assen today, charging through from 11th on the grid to beat Casey Stoner (Ducati Marlboro Team Desmosedici) by 1.9 seconds. The Italian and the Australian were joined on the podium by reigning World Champion Nicky Hayden (Repsol Honda RC212V-Michelin) who had his own thrilling comeback, from 13th on the grid to a brilliant third-place finish. Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda RC212V-Michelin) made it three Michelin riders in the top four, with Colin Edwards (Fiat Yamaha Team YZR-M1-Michelin) coming home in sixth.

Top Ten Territory For Fighting West At Assen
30 June 2007
Hard charging Anthony West showed today at Assen why he was drafted into the Kawasaki Racing Team for the remainder of the 2007 season, as he stormed to an impressive, and hard fought, top ten finish in only his second MotoGP race aboard Kawasaki's Ninja ZX-RR. West, who only joined the team at last week's Donington Park race in the UK, has barely had time to get used to the 800cc Ninja ZX-RR but that didn't stop him finishing the Dutch TT Grand Prix in a superb ninth position.

Stoner Continues Bridgestone Grip With Assen Podium
30 June 2007
Ducati’s Casey Stoner finished a competitive runner-up in today’s Dutch TT at the Assen circuit after yet another compelling duel with Valentino Rossi, typifying this season’s MotoGP championship. Stoner’s strong second place adds another 20 points to his championship-leading tally which gives him a 21-point lead at the head of the classification with half of the season now complete. Suzuki’s John Hopkins scored his fourth consecutive top five race finish with a fine fifth place in today’s race which sees him bolster his own championship effort, elevating himself to fourth in the overall standings.

Another Top Five Finish For Hopkins At Dutch GP
30 June 2007
Rizla Suzuki MotoGP racer John Hopkins secured his sixth top-five finish of the season as he raced to a hard earned fifth place at the Assen TT today. Starting from sixth on the grid, Hopkins made an excellent start and was running in second position over the first half of the race. The hard-battling Anglo-American then encountered some vibration problems with his bike and lost valuable time to the chasing pack. Hopkins fought to keep them off but was passed by eventual winner Valentino Rossi and both of the factory Hondas. Hopkins’ points haul today moves him up into fourth place in the world championship classification.

Kurtis Roberts In The Points Again At Assen
30 June 2007
Kurtis Roberts finished in the points for a second successive GP, managing to recoup 15th place after a difficult weekend at the revised Assen circuit for the Dutch TT. Roberts, riding as substitute for his elder brother Kenny Junior, is in only his fourth race, combining the role of test rider developing the all-new 2007 prototype MotoGP racer as well as trying to achieve results for his father's team. It is a tall order. Strictly limited testing time at each race is just one difficulty Kurtis faces.

Despite a poor start to today’s Dutch TT race, Konica MinoltaHonda’s Shinya Nakano battled back from outside the points to take 12th at the flag and net some valuable points in the MotoGP World Championship. The 29-year-old Japanese rider battled with grip problems in the early part of the race, before slowly picking his way through the field to get safely into the points. At the front the crowd were treated to a thrilling last few laps as Valentino Rossi closed on championship leader Casey Stoner, before passing the Australian and taking the win. Assen marks the half-way point in the series and there will now be a two-week break before the MotoGP circus heads to Germany and the Sachsenring on 15th July.

Difficult Qualifying For FIAT Yamaha Team In Rain-Hit Assen
29 June 2007
It was business as usual in the MotoGP paddock today, as the bad weather that has become the norm this season disrupted this afternoon's Qualifying session ahead of tomorrow's Dutch TT. After a dry session this morning, when Fiat Yamaha Team riders Valentino Rossi and Colin Edwards were first and fourth fastest respectively, it was once again time for the riders to put on their rain-suits and do battle with the elements in the fight for grid slots.

Wet Qualifying Session For Pramac D’ Antin At Dutch TT
29 June 2007
Unfavourable weather conditioned this afternoon’s qualifying session in preparation for tomorrow afternoon’s Dutch TT in Assen. Persistent rain throughout the afternoon forced MotoGP riders to go on to the track with a wet set-up and could not continue with the dry set-up work that began yesterday. For both Pramac d’Antin riders, it was a good day. Both achieved good lap times and a good feeling with wet Bridgestone tyres and Ducati bike, which leaves the team encouraged in case tomorrow’s race is held in wet conditions.

Qualifying Rain Makes Life Tough For Repsol
29 June 2007
Qualifying for the Dutch TT took place in wet conditions at Assen on Friday with Repsol Honda riders Dani Pedrosa and Nicky Hayden finishing in ninth and 13th positions in the constantly changing conditions. Pedrosa was able to set the pace at the start of the one-hour afternoon session, topping the timesheets after 20 minutes and looking confident aboard his RC212V in the wet. As the rain increased however, the 21-year-old Spaniard could not find the grip of some his rivals and slipped back to ninth.

Roberts Gains Five Places In Wet Qualifying
29 June 2007
Kurtis Roberts, riding in only fourth MotoGP event since returning mid-season, moved from 19th on dry practice times to 14th in a wet qualifying session for Saturday's Dutch TT - a position he felt might have been better if he'd had a little more time on the tricky new Assen circuit he was seeing for the first time. Roberts, who is substituting for his older brother Kenny, set the time right at the end of the session, at his very last chance, after losing time in the closing stages when he pitted for a tyre change. It meant he was obliged to try for a time with no second chances, crossing the start-finish line some 30 seconds before the chequered flag signaled the end.

De Puniet On Front Row Of The Grid At Assen
29 June 2007
Kawasaki's Randy de Puniet will start tomorrow's Dutch TT from the front row of the grid after a gripping finale to today's qualifying session. Team mate, Anthony West, also came well within the top ten on the time sheet and will start from the front of the third row. After a good start to the session, which saw him easily maintaining the pace of the frontrunners, de Puniet's confidence dropped as an already wet track became precariously slippery, with rain falling ever harder on the Dutch circuit.

Stoner Storms To Front-Row Start
29 June 2007
Ducati Marlboro Team rider Casey Stoner scored an important front-row start at rain-lashed Assen this afternoon while team-mate Loris Capirossi secured a place on the fourth row of the grid. Just five days after his convincing British GP victory at a damp Donington Park, World Championship leader Stoner proved once again that he is on the pace, rain or shine. He led much of the wet qualifying session, eventually ending up a close second, just 0.017 seconds off pole. It was his fourth front-row performance of the year and continued an impressive Assen display - first or second in all four sessions. The Australian was fastest in yesterday's two dry outings and a close second in this morning's session, also run on a dry track. Capirossi was also running very well in the rain but lost several positions in the late stages of the qualifying session when the rain intensified.

Vermeulen Takes Pole In Assen Deluge
29 June 2007
Chris Vermeulen stormed through wet and windy weather conditions at Assen today to give Rizla Suzuki MotoGP its first pole position of the season. Vermeulen (1’48.555, 25 laps) again showed his wet weather ability as he posted the fastest time of this afternoon’s qualifying session with over a quarter of it remaining. Fresh from his third place in the wet at Donington last week, Vermeulen always looked in control and comfortable on his GSV-R over the treacherous 4.5km Dutch circuit. During this morning’s dry practice session Vermeulen made big improvements to the set-up of his bike and looks in a better position now – than at the same time yesterday - if tomorrow’s race is dry.

Vermeulen Singing In The Rain
29 June 2007
Chris Vermeulen once again showed his ability to enjoy the rain by grabbing pole position for the ninth round of the MotoGP World Championship at a wet Assen this afternoon. The combination of the Australian and the Rizla Suzuki have already tasted the top step of the podium at the wet French Grand Prix last month and this afternoon he skated across the 2.83 mile Assen tarmac to grab the third pole position of his brief MotoGP career. He’s joined on the front row for the 26-lap race by Championship leader Casey Stoner and the Kawasaki of Frenchman Randy De Puniet who put in a stunning last lap when the rain had stopped.

4th & 7th for 1950's-Inspired FIAT Yamaha Duo
29 June 2007
Valentino Rossi and Colin Edwards started their Dutch challenge in unusual style today, both sporting a new 1950's-inspired livery on their leathers and bikes. The colourful pair finished the day fourth and seventh in the combined standings after a thankfully dry first day of practice for the Dutch TT. This morning saw the Yamaha duo second and fourth respectively in the first practice as they tested tyres and worked on bike set-up. They continued with more of the same throughout this afternoon's second practice, dropping slightly down the order but both improving on their times from the morning. Both riders finished the day feeling initially positive about their tyre choices and potential in the dry and, with rain a possibility tomorrow, today's two hours of dry track time could prove crucial. The fastest time of the day was set by Casey Stoner with a lap of 1'37.828, just 0.320 seconds faster than Rossi.

Repsol Honda Duo Make Promising Start To Dutch TT
29 June 2007
The Repsol Honda Team enjoyed a positive day at Assen on Thursday as the first two practice sessions for the 77th running of the Dutch TT were completed in mercifully dry conditions. Nicky Hayden built on the progress made during practice at the British Grand Prix last weekend and once again figured consistently towards the top of the timesheets. The 25-year-old World Champion was third fastest aboard his RC212V in both one-hour sessions, finishing the day as the top runner on Michelin tyres and just 0.286s behind the pace-setter Casey Stoner. Assen is a track the American likes very much, and with good reason – the 4.555km (2.830-mile) circuit being the scene of Hayden’s dramatic last-gasp win in 2006
