Lancelot Grabs Pole at MX Penultimate Round in Teutschenthal

The penultimate round of the Women’s Motocross World Championship begun today in Teutschenthal in eventful conditions for the Championship standings. Series leader Katherine Prumm is out with a broken left collarbone and with third placed Ashley Fiolek also missing round four, the points standings might change dramatically after Sunday’s two motos as Livia Lancelot will start from pole.

Laier Wins Round Two of Women's WMX

The second round of the FIM Women’s Motocross World Championship was an eventful one today at Mantova, where the series had never been before. KTM Germany’s Stephanie Laier came back to action with style after she missed round one in Bulgaria due to a damaged ligament in her right shoulder. Laier took a clean sweep in Mantova, winning from Yamaha Van Beers Racing’s Katherine Prumm and Suzuki Inotec’s Larissa Papenmeier. The latter came back to the podium after the last moto crash in Sevlievo, leaving her with a damaged right foot. Livia Lancelot was fourth ahead of Ashley Fiolek.

Lancelot Leads the Group into Italy for Round Two

After round one in Sevlievo, Bulgaria, the first edition of the FIM Women’s Motocross World Championship will be in Mantova, Italy, for round two, taking place this weekend before the month break preceding the French round in St. Jean d’Angely (June 15th). As the series touches the Italian soil for the first time, Livia Lancelot tasted her maiden win in Bulgaria and now heads the points standings.

Lancelot Takes First Career Win at Women's World MX

Livia Lancelot took her first ever victory today at Sevlievo, under mixed weather conditions which made the second moto a lot harder than the first, as the course got more slippery. 27,000 spectators attended this opening round of the FIM Women’s Motocross World Championship which will move to Italy next week for the second of five rounds. Having started the FIM Women’s World Cup in 2005 as a privateer, current GPKR rider Livia Lancelot took her first overall win today, at round one of the first edition of the FIM Women’s Motocross World Championship. Ending runner up to Suzuki Inotec’s Larissa Papenmeier in the first moto, Livia took victory in heat two as her rival crashed and injured her right foot.

FIM Women’s MX World Championship Starts at Sevlievo

After the quick development of the FIM Women’s Motocross World Cup throughout the years following the first edition in 2005, the series was upgraded to World Championship at the end of 2007. It will see its first World Championship round get underway this weekend at Sevlievo, Bulgaria, representing a brand new course for the women riders. Katherine Prumm enters Sevlievo holding the red plate but will face a strong opposition in the likes of arch rival Livia Lancelot, Maria Franke, Larissa Papenmeier and lots more. After winning the 2006 and 2007 World Cups onboard a Kawasaki machine, Kiwi Katherine Prumm is ready to start the 2008 season inside the Yamaha Van Beers Racing Team. Having completed a solid winter of preparation in Europe, Prumm is fit and looking forward to Sevlievo.
