HANNspree FIM SBK World Championship® Assen

As the HANNspree FIM Superbike World Championship arrives at the Assen TT Circuit in the Netherlands for round 4 of 14, all eyes were on the select group of riders invited to the SBK Paddock Show for the traditional pre-event press conference. Present on the stage were Valencia race 2 winner Noriyuki Haga, the protagonists of the last corner clash in race 1, Carlos Checa and Max Neukirchner, Régis Laconi, Max Biaggi and Dutch rider Arie Vos who has a wild-card entry on a Ducati 1098 for his home race.

Sofuoglu Battles Hard For Eighth Place At Misano

Kenan Sofuoglu fought hard from a ninth place start to finish eighth overall at Misano, after 23 laps of intense competition in hot temperatures. He had been as high as fourth at one stage, but as the time wore on and the heat started to tell, he slowly moved back to finish eighth, scoring valuable points in his championship effort. His team-mate for this weekend, Arie Vos, scored points for his 14th place finish, making up several positions from his 23rd place qualifying spot.

Sofuoglu Into The Top Ten At A Scorching Misano

Kenan Sofuoglu (Winston Ten Kate Honda) recovered from a first day hiccup to set the 9th best time of the final qualifying session, and ensure that he starts the 23-lap World Supersport race at Misano from the first spot on the third row. His team-mate for the weekend, Arie Vos (Winston Ten Kate Honda), was 23rd fastest in combined times, having only shaved two tenths from his opening day best.

Vos Makes Progress As Sofuoglu Struggles Under The Misano Sun

Standing in for regular team rider Sebastien Charpentier, Arie Vos (Winston Ten Kate Honda) posted a 13th best time out of 37 riders in the sizzling hot opening qualifying session at Misano, with more to come in the final qualifying session on Saturday 24th June. His team-mate for the weekend, Kenan Sofuoglu (Winston Ten Kate Honda) made a disappointing start to his Misano weekend, running only 24th fastest.

Vos To Take Charpentier’s Position At Misano

After sustaining injuries at the recent Brno tests, world championship leader Sebastien Charpentier underwent an operation last Thursday, during which doctors in Paris inserted one plate in his collarbone and one in bone three of his pelvis. Seb is recovering well after his restorative surgery and should be back for a Lausitz tyre test session, just a week before Brno race on 23 July. Arie Vos will take Charpentier’s spot during the Misano weekend. The Dutch rider is back again with the Winston Ten Kate Honda Team after last year’s experience outing at Magny-Cours. Arie knows the bike, the tyres and the track very well and should be able to achieve a positive result on the Italian circuit. For the team’s regular second rider, Kenan Sofuoglu, it will be the first time with his Honda CBR 600 on this circuit, and last year a broken hand prevented him from competing in the Superstock Championship.
