Team Roadracingworld.com Suzuki endured a difficult weekend at Virginia International Raceway as the recovering Chris Ulrich fought hard for a top-ten AMA Superstock result and Robertino Pietri crashed out of the final after showing impressive speed in the lead-up to the race. Venezuelan Pietri qualified his Pirelli-shod GSX-R1000 on the second row in the sixth overall position, qualifying with a best lap of 1:26.170. Meanwhile, Ulrich opened his race from the outside of the third row, qualifying twelfth with a fastest time of 1:28.014.

2008 AMA SBK Parts Unlimited & Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix

The AMA Superbike Championship presented by Parts Unlimited will contest the first of two rounds to be held this season at the famed Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca circuit in Monterey, Calif. The July stop has also become an annual meeting with the superstars of the MotoGP World Championship, widely considered the pinnacle of global motorcycle road racing. The MotoGP field boasts some of the AMA Superbike Championship's most decorated graduates, led by 2006 World Champion Nicky Hayden, a former AMA Superbike and Supersport champ. Hayden won the U.S. Grand Prix in 2005 and 2006. 1992 AMA 250GP champion Colin Edwards is another top MotoGP competitor with an AMA Superbike pedigree. The Texan has been performing impressively this season, regularly finishing in the top five and occasionally landing on the podium. Unfortunately, former AMA Formula Xtreme and Superstock king John Hopkins will be unable to compete in front of his home fans at Laguna Seca, ruled out by injury.

Pietri On The Superstock Podium at Road America

Team Roadracingworld.com overcame adversity to claim a tremendous double top-five result in this weekend's AMA Superstock race at Road America. The weekend started on a down note when Chris Ulrich, who entered the weekend ranked fourth in the Superstock points chase, was injured in a Thursday practice crash and was forced to join team-mate Santiago Villa on the shelf. However, former Latin American and Venezuelan Superbike champ Robertino Pietri and super-sub Michael Barnes came through and stepped up in his absence.

Team Roadracingworld.com Suzuki scored a pair of top-ten finishes in the AMA Superstock race on Sunday at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, CA. Robertino Pietri and Chris Ulrich were awarded sixth and seventh place, respectively, after the race was red flagged and called complete following 14 of the event's scheduled 17 laps due to a two-rider incident. Venezuelan Pietri continued to show his speed with Pirelli's sticky qualifying tyres on his GSX-R1000 racebike, circulating with a fast time of 1:37.315 on Saturday to qualify fourth and log a second consecutive front-row qualifying performance.

Pietri Leads at Fontana & Finishes 4th in Superstock

Team Roadracingworld.com Suzuki backed up their first-ever AMA Superstock podium finish a week earlier at Barber Motorsports Park with another tremendous showing this weekend at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, CA. Robertino Pietri scored his best finish of the season and equaled the best of his AMA career by finishing fourth in the AMA Superstock race aboard his Pirelli-shod GSX-R1000. Meanwhile, teammate Chris Ulrich fought up from outside the top ten to take seventh in the race and hold down third in the 2008 points race.

Suzuki's Mladin And Spies Dominate Fontana

Team Yoshimura Suzuki's Mat Mladin and team mate Ben Spies dominated the second leg of the AMA Superbike Championship double-header at California Speedway in Fontana today, with Mladin taking the victory by just 0.035 seconds. The six-time AMA Champion reversed the places on his team mate as the two GSX-R1000s finished 21 seconds ahead of third-placed Eric Bostrom (Yamaha) in the 28 lapper.

Yushimura Suzuki's Spies Wins Season Opener

Team Yoshimura Suzuki's Ben Spies picked up his first-ever victory at Daytona International Speedway in Florida by winning the opening round of the AMA Superstock Championship. "At the beginning of the race I had a little issue but it was all me and the bike came through," said Spies. "I can't say enough about the power of the Yoshimura Suzuki GSX-R1000."

'07 Superstock Series Hard To Predict

The opening round of the 2007 AMA Superstock Series, on Thursday, March 8 at Daytona International Speedway, will go a long way in helping to figure out which riders and teams will step up to be leading contenders for the title. Yoshimura Suzuki’s Ben Spies seems the obvious choice as the pre-season favorite, but a number of other riders are likely to put even more focus on the class than Spies will. Riders such as Ben Bostrom, Aaron Yates and Geoff May, to name a few, could easily pull ahead of the pack in this wide open class.

Jamie Hacking’s amazing 2006 season got even better on Sunday at Road Atlanta when he clinched the 2006 Repsol Lubricants Superstock Series championship with his sixth victory of the year. The title gave Hacking, the 35-year-old veteran racer who lives in Denver, N. C., the honor of being only the second rider in history to win both the Repsol Superstock and Pro Honda Oils Supersport presented by Shoei titles in a single season.

Team Yoshimura Suzuki’s Aaron Yates finished an impressive second place in the first-ever AMA Repsol Superstock race at the brand-new Miller Motorsports Park in Toole, Utah, on Sunday. This podium finish is the defending AMA Superstock Champion’s sixth out of a potential six podium finishes so far this year.

Team Yoshimura Suzuki’s Aaron Yates won his second AMA Repsol Superstock race of the season and his 12th Superstock career victory in a tight 10-lap battle on Sunday afternoon. The defending AMA Superstock Champion is also the first rider to get back-to-back Superstock wins at Road America.
