US Motocross Series: 7th round Mechanicsville

In Motocross moto one, Nicholas Wey got a decent start rounding the first turn in 7th. His teammate, Billy Laninovich, in only his third week back, almost grabbed the holeshot, but settled for 2nd. Wey continued to battle up front in the scorching hot weather and rough track until the moto end where he finished 8th. Laninovich had an early moto crash, charging his way from 37th to 21st.

Byrne Grabs 1st Podium at Red Bud

Rockstar Makita Suzuki Factory Racing's Michael Byrne picked up his first podium of the 2008 AMA Motocross season at Red Bud Track & Trail in Buchanan, Michigan, on Sunday afternoon. The Australian rider put in two strong motos, bringing home two fourth-place finishes to take the overall third-place result. Team mate Mike Alessi had a great first moto, getting the holeshot on his Rockstar Makita Suzuki RM-Z450 and finishing in second place. Unfortunately, Alessi crashed hard in the second moto and was unable to finish the race. He suffered two broken scapulas, a broken rib and a bruised lung.

AMA Racing Suspends Motocross Rider Jason Lawrence

The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) announced today that it has suspended professional motocross rider Jason Lawrence for unacceptable behavior detrimental to the sport. According to AMA officials, Lawrence was arrested for disorderly conduct at Red Bud Track & Trail on July 4 while in Buchanan, Michigan, for round six of the AMA Toyota Motocross Series Presented by FMF. The incident follows a penalty and suspended fine issued in June for conduct detrimental to the sport at the Freestone County Raceway during round three of the series in Wortham, Texas.

Alessi Second in Glen Helen Opener

Rockstar Makita Suzuki Factory Racing's Mike Alessi started the AMA Motocross season strongly by capturing second place overall at this weekend's season-opening round at Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino, California. Team mate Michael Byrne also had a good weekend, thanks to a sixth-place overall result, while David Vuillemin struggled to17th overall.
In the Motocross Lites class, Ryan Dungey had a fine weekend after taking fourth place overall. Nico Izzi, meanwhile, had a good first moto, finishing eighth, but had some issues in the second moto and wound up with 13th overall.

Langston Gives Yamaha Transatlantic Success

Grant Langston won his third consecutive meeting of the season when he crossed the finish line at Glen Helen for the twelfth and last round of the 2007 AMA Motocross Championship and clinched his first title in the premier class. The 25 year old South African’s results ensured that Yamaha toasted yet another excellent crown with YZ machinery after also winning the MX2 and MX3 World Championship this year.

Tedesco 6th At Steel City

Team Makita Suzuki Racing's Ivan Tedesco carded one of his best finishes of the 2007 AMA Toyota Motocross Championship season on Sunday afternoon by picking up sixth-place overall at Pennsylvania's Steel City Raceway. Tedesco rode his Makita Suzuki RM-Z450 to sixth place in the first 30-minute moto and to fifth place in the second moto. Makita Suzuki team mate Ricky Carmichael did not race at Steel City because he is running an abbreviated race schedule for 2007.

Carmichael Notches 150th Win

Ricky Carmichael ended his AMA Motocross Championship career by notching his 150th career victory at Sunday's ninth round at Spring Creek Motocross Park in Millville, Minnesota. Team mate Ivan Tedesco celebrated a top-five finish after coming in 11th in the first moto and just short of the podium in fourth position in the second moto.

Vuillemin Signs For Suzuki

American Suzuki Motor Corp. announced today that Team Makita Suzuki Racing has signed former World Supercross Champion and French Supercross Champion David Vuillemin to race the Makita Suzuki RM-Z450 in the 2008 AMA Supercross and AMA Motocross series.

AMA Toyota Motocross Championship Presented by FMF Comes to Unadilla

The first half of the 2007 AMA Toyota Motocross Championship presented by FMF comes to a close with round six of the series at Unadilla Valley Sports Center on July 14-15 in New Berlin, New York. The Monster Energy Nice N Easy Pro National Presented by Renegade Haulers will see James Stewart trying to overcome the spate of bad luck he’s suffered at Unadilla over the last couple of seasons. In 2005 Stewart had a collision with Ricky Carmichael as the two battled for the lead. Last year Stewart suffered a high-speed crash during morning practice and missed the race altogether. This year Stewart is the pre-race favorite to win his first national of the season aboard his Monster Energy Kawasaki.

Carmichael Going Final Red Bud National Win

Ricky Carmichael had a lot of pressure coming into the 2007 AMA Toyota Motocross Championship presented by FMF. In spite of his astounding career accomplishments RC risked finishing out his career with a whimper. Instead he is continuing his assault on the record books and going out with the loudest bang possible. Showing the dedication and pride he’s had throughout his career, Carmichael has completely dominated the season so far, winning all four events leading up to the Monster Energy Kawasaki Red Bud National Motocross presented by Concept Haulers on June 30-July 1 in Buchanan, Mich.

This weekend's AMA Toyota Motocross at Budds Creek was a significant one for Team Makita Suzuki Racing as 15-time AMA Champion Ricky Carmichael carded his 100th AMA Motocross win while his team mate Ivan Tedesco successfully returned to racing after missing the first three rounds due to injury.

Carmichael Wins At Southwick

In the sands of Southwick's Motocross 338, Team Makita Suzuki Racing's Ricky Carmichael celebrated the city's proclaimed "Ricky Carmichael Day" by winning his third straight AMA Toyota Motocross race of the 2007 season on Sunday afternoon. The 15-time AMA Champion won both 30-minute motos handily to take the overall victory at the Massachusetts track. This is Carmichael's eighth consecutive win at Southwick and he joins Kent Howerton as the only other Suzuki rider to win three premier-class races in a row at this track. Additionally, this marks Carmichael's 99th AMA motocross victory and his 147th AMA career win. The rider they call the Greatest of All Time is running an abbreviated racing schedule and will only race a few more MX events this year.

Carmichael Wins Hangtown

Team Makita Suzuki's Ricky Carmichael returned to motorcycle racing with a vengeance at the recent weekend's season-opening round of AMA Toyota Motocross at Hangtown Raceway in Sacramento, California. The 15-time AMA Champion took the overall win after finishing second in the first moto and winning the second moto on his Makita Suzuki RM-Z450 on Sunday afternoon. This victory is Carmichael's 91st motocross win and his 17th victory at Hangtown and this marks his 145th career win.

AMA Motocross Championship Set To Kick Off At Hangtown

The opening round of the 2007 AMA Toyota Motocross Championship presented by FMF begins on May 19-20 with the 39th Annual Honda Hangtown Motocross Classic. This event marks the start of the final showdown between defending AMA Motocross champ Ricky Carmichael, of the Makita Suzuki team, and challenger James Stewart, who rides for Monster Energy Kawasaki. The rolling hills of Prairie City State Vehicular Recreation Area, just east of Sacramento, California, is the site of the Hangtown National. The race is one of the most historic on the AMA racing calendar. The origins of the race date back to 1969 and has been promoted by the Dirt Diggers North Motorcycle Club ever since. A who’s who of motocross have won at Hangtown. Riders like Hall of Famers Bob Hannah, Kent Howerton, Jeff Ward, Rick Johnson, Mark Barnett, Jeremy McGrath, Jeff Stanton, Broc Glover, Marty Smith and Danny LaPorte.
