Pramac D'Antin Releases Alex Hofmann From Contract
17 September 2007
After the Grand Prix of Portugal, during which Alex Hofmann entered the pit boxes with 17 laps remaining, and said, “I don´t have the motivation to fight for the last positions”, the Team management of Pramac-d´Antin have decided to release Hofmann from his contractual obligations for the remainder of the 2007 MotoGP season. The last four races in the MotoGP World Championship will see a substitute rider in place of Hofmann, who will be named within a few days in a following press release.

No Points For The Pramac D'Antin In Estoril

The fourteenth race in the World Championship finished with Valentino Rossi returning to his winning ways in flamboyant style, while Championship points leader, Casey Stoner, rode a measured race to finish comfortably in third place, almost all but securing the World Championship for Ducati within the next two races, the second coming at Casey's home race of Australia. Bad luck struck the two riders wearing Pramac D'antin colors, and neither rider was able to finish the race, despite their best efforts.

Fifth Row Start For Barros

The final day of Free Practice and Qualifying in Estoril for the MotoGP class was run in a strong heat that only served to stoke the fires inside the pilots of the Pramac D'antin Ducati as they sought to fight for a top spot in the Grid. Unfortunately, the times did not improve, compared to yesterday's, to the necessary degree, and as such, Alex Barros will start from the fifth row, alongside Marlboro Ducati Factory pilot, Loris Capirossi, and right behind them they are joined by the Desmosedici of Alex Hofmann.

The circuit of Estoril is hosting round fourteen of the MotoGP World Championship. The Portuguese circuit is located just a few kilometers from the coast, and is reknowned for being a tricky and technical track, as well as having shifting weather patterns. Due to the circuit’s emphasis on high speed cornering and low-speed flickability, the right balance of the motorcycle and tires is fundamental. The Pramac-d´Antin team finished the first day of Free Practices with Alex Barros in ninth and Alex Hofmann in eighteenth.

Barros Retires With Electrical Problems

A difficult weekend concludes that sees a lone five points scored by Alex Hofmann who finished strongly in eleventh place here in Misano. Alex Barros, riding a brilliant race and making a comeback from seventeenth on the grid and fighting for sixth place regrettably dropped out of the race with an electrical problem. The German pilot continues to heal from his accident in Laguna Seca, and rode a solid race, making time lap after lap and having a great battle with Shinya Nakano, ultimately losing in the final laps when his hand had lost strength under hard braking.

Unfortunate Day For The Pramac D´antin Team

Sunny skies and beautiful weather masked what was a very dark day for the Pramac Dántin riders. After an intense two hour morning free practice, due to the cancellation of two free sessions yesterday afternoon following a tremendous rain storm, the riders quickly recovered their strength and went back out in the afternoon for the Qualifying session. The goal was to find the optimum settings for the bike, but with the time lost because of the yesterday’s weather, what resulted was a not what the team had hoped for.

The thirteenth race of the MotoGP World Championships takes place with a second visit to Italy, at the circuit of Misano, along the beautiful Adriatic coastline. The circuit has not been raced at by the World Championship since 1993, when multiple time World Champion, Wayne Rainey, was severely injured during that year’s race. The first free practice of the morning saw the Pramac Dántin riders on rain tires, and due to both the inclement weather and their lack of experience at this circuit, they were not able to determine much about the track, which is being run in the opposite direction as normal.

Second consecutive race for the MotoGP protagonists who fly overseas to race the eleventh championship appointment on the extremely technical Californian track in Laguna Seca. For both Pramac d’Antin riders will be a very important round where they have to focus on the first positions. The Italo-Spanish Team guys are anxious to verify their good physical conditions, in spite of the accident to the right hand, to be able to exalt the very good performances of the Ducati – Bridgestone binomial, now leader in the championship.

The tenth MotoGP championship appointment concluded with a hotly contested race characterized by a lot of crashes. In the sweltering heat of the afternoon sun at Sachsenring, which saw track temperatures soar past 50 degrees celsius, many riders were unable to finish their races, and unfortunately one of the victims of this situation was Alex Barros, who lost the front after nine laps and crashed. Fortunately, he did not injure his damaged right hand further, which was hurt in a large crash on Friday morning, and aside from additional aches and pains, Barros is ready for the upcoming Red Bull US Grand Prix in Monterey, California, just one week away.

Under bright sunshine and scorching track temperatures, the Pramac Dántin riders took to the track for the second day of the Grand Prix of Germany. Alex Barros, still in pain from the yesterday morning’s crash, performed superbly and will start the race from the third row alongside the Factory Ducati of Loris Capirossi. The Brazilian rider had hoped for something more at this racetrack, but is justifiably happy with his qualifying result that was remarkably set using Bridgestone race tires instead of the qualifying rubber. Even more, the time was set while riding with a right hand injury that made hard braking and delicate throttle control very difficult, something that the tight and technical Sachsenring circuit demands. With the race set-up of his Desmosed ici well defined, Barros brings considerable confidence to the starting grid for tomorrow’s race.

After competing in the two consecutive North European races, the MotoGP bikers stop one week to prepare themselves for the tenth world championship appointment where they will be the real protagonists of the Germany race before flying to the US. Alex Barros, not completely satisfied after the result got in the Holland GP, is ready to redeem himself in Sachsenring, where, having already won the 2000 appointment and obtained the second place on podium in 2004, he has all the means to dispute a good competition.

The ninth championship appointment saw the Pramac d’Antin riders participate in the Dutch TT event at the Assen circuit in the Netherlands. Despite predictions, it was a dry race that enabled the Italian-Spanish Team to obtain important points for the Championship. Both Alex Barros and Alex Hofmann achieved top ten results finishing the 26-lap race in seventh and eighth places respectively, but despite the good results, neither rider was completely satisfied and had hoped for better results.

Wet Qualifying Session For Pramac D’ Antin At Dutch TT

Unfavourable weather conditioned this afternoon’s qualifying session in preparation for tomorrow afternoon’s Dutch TT in Assen. Persistent rain throughout the afternoon forced MotoGP riders to go on to the track with a wet set-up and could not continue with the dry set-up work that began yesterday. For both Pramac d’Antin riders, it was a good day. Both achieved good lap times and a good feeling with wet Bridgestone tyres and Ducati bike, which leaves the team encouraged in case tomorrow’s race is held in wet conditions.

First free practice day, ended in positive way on Ducth TT circuit in Assen for Pramac d’Antin Team, which work so hard for Saturday’s race. Alex Barros and Alex Hofmann, well opened their ninth appointment making good free practice session especially in the morning and obtained the eight and fifth positions respectively , riding with their desmosedici with Bridgestone tires. The Brazilian rider, veteran on Dutch circuit was able to find a good feeling with the whole package bike-tires that make him very confident for the race.

Concluded the eight race at Donington Park, Pramac d’ Antin Team moves to Holland to face the second consecutive North European appointment, that represents the ninth world championship MotoGP round. This time too, it will not be a simple race for the Pramac d’Antin guys who should compete one more time in a very technical track, surely not so easy from the set-up point of view, even though the Ducati Desmosedici demonstrated to be competitive in every kind of track. Another point of advantage could be the Bridgestone tires that last year proved to be able to reach the podium.

Both Pramac d’Antin riders Alex Barros and Alex Hofmann ended this afternoon’s British GP at Donington Park with top ten results to show for their efforts. Intermittent rain showers during the morning left a wet track for the start of this afternoon’s thirty-lap race, the eighth round of this year’s MotoGP championship, which made life difficult for all teams and riders. Although it was a tough race, the Pramac d’Antin team were rewarded with a positive outcome as Barros claimed seventh place ahead of his German team-mate Hofmann in ninth.

Difficult Qualifying For Both Pramac D’Antin Riders in Donington

Pramac d’Antin riders Alex Barros and Alex Hofmann braved the second of today’s two practice sessions in preparation for tomorrow’s British GP, the eighth championship appointment of this 2007 season. Today’s weather conditions were more favourable than yesterday but this wasn’t enough to help the ‘Portacolori’ Italo-Spanish team that will start tomorrow’s GP from the fifth row of the grid when the red lights are extinguished.

A typical English weather day characterised by intermittent rain, opened the eighth world championship appointment of MotoGP on Donington Park circuit, that showed the Pramac d’Antin guys engaged in free practice session in reason of Sunday’s race. This weekend seems to be particularly difficult, both because of not good weather and track conditions as very technical and characterised by slippery asphalt, will make things difficult for MotoGP class drivers.

The Pramac D’antin team heads to Great Britain for the eighth championship appointment on the 2007 MotoGP calendar that at the Donington Park track in England. The track is characterised by fast corners and hard deceleration that makes life hard for the riders especially when weather conditions are not favourable. For Alex Barros, who is currently in eighth position in the riders’ championship, the Donington track holds good memories and is a circuit at which he achieved a string of four consecutive podiums between 2001 and 2005. He also holds the maximum speed record.
