Ducati’s Casey Stoner continued his recent impressive form in today’s opening free practice sessions at the Laguna Seca raceway, lapping under his pole position time from last year by almost half-a-second using Bridgestone race tyres this afternoon. Stoner, winner of the last three races, was quickest in both of today’s sessions by a notable margin, and led a quintet of Bridgestone-shod riders in the morning practice hour. In the afternoon, with track temperatures considerably higher, he set his quickest lap of the day on his final tour of the 3.610km Laguna Seca track.

Team San Carlo Honda Gresini Head to the US
3 Days ago
The MotoGP World Championship arrives at Laguna Seca for the tenth time in total, with the circuit that lies between the towns of Monterey and Salinas, to the south of San Francisco, having hosted the USGP on six occasions between 1988 and 1994 - as well as for the past three seasons. Seven of the nine races held there so far have been won by Americans, demonstrating the advantage of local knowledge at this unique circuit. Team Gresini have featured strongly, however, with two podium finishes out of three attempts thanks to consecutive third place finishes for Marco Melandri in 2006 and 2007.

Toseland Seeks The Sun & Change of Fortune
5 Days ago
British MotoGP star James Toseland returns to one of his favourite circuits looking for a change of fortune and some Californian sunshine at the weekend. The 27 year old Yorkshireman last raced at Laguna Seca in 2004 when he was involved in a tremendous battle for the lead with another MotoGP star Australian Chris Vermeulen in the World Superbike Championship. It’s been a tough last three races for Toseland who finished 11th in the German rain after a wrong tyre choice but he still lies ninth in his debut MotoGP season riding the Tech 3 Yamaha. A good result on Sunday in the 32 lap race to consolidate or even improve that position is his aim before enjoying the long awaited summer break.

Stoner Leads All-Bridgestone Podium at Wet Sachsenring
5 Days ago
Ducati’s Casey Stoner scored his third consecutive victory of the season at a wet Sachsenring yesterday leading an all-Bridgestone podium with Fiat Yamaha’s Valentino Rossi in second place, and Rizla Suzuki’s Chris Vermeulen in third. The thirty lap race was held in difficult wet conditions, but Bridgestone’s wet weather tyres proved competitive for the full race distance. Eight Bridgestone-shod riders finished in the top ten today at a circuit where success has previously eluded the tyre manufacturer. Stoner’s win represents the first time a rider on Bridgestone tyres has won at Sachsenring. Rossi’s second place takes him back to the top of the championship with a 16-point margin over Dani Pedrosa, who did not score points in today’s race. Stoner’s 25 points for the win bring him to within four points of second place in the standings heading into the United States GP at Laguna Seca next weekend, where Bridgestone enjoyed a podium clean sweep with Stoner in dominant form.

11 July 2008
Alex De Angelis and Shinya Nakano started the German Grand Prix on the right foot at Sachsenring, the two Team San Carlo Honda Gresini riders taking starring roles in today’s opening free practice sessions, ending the day in second and seventh place respectively. Nakano also gave positive feedback after lapping seventh fastest in the afternoon session, with just a few tenths covering the riders immediately above him.

Crash Landing For MotoGP Men
11 July 2008
It was a day of crashing for the MotoGP stars in the first two practice sessions for the Alice Grand Prix of Germany at the Sachsenring this afternoon. Among the fallers in the afternoon session were Championship leader Dani Pedrosa and World Champion Casey Stoner while in the morning British star James Toseland crashed without injury on just the second lap. Although the weather was dry despite a few spots of rain in the morning round the tight 2.281 mile circuit, the pressure really told on those top men who all escaped injury. Anthony West on the sole Kawasaki crashed in the morning and bruised his back while in the afternoon Andre Dovizioso and Colin Edwards also fell without injury.

The history of premier-class racing at Sachsenring can be divided into two eras – firstly from 1961 to 1972, when the original circuit, measuring almost nine kilometres, hosted the East German Grand Prix. The modern era began in 1998, when the top class returned to a completely modernised facility.

Shinya Nakano picked up his best result of the season so far in the Dutch TT, where he crossed the line in a creditable eighth place. The Japanese rider got a great start and chased the leading group over the opening laps, before settling for a solid points score at the legendary track. Alex De Angelis suffered entirely different fortunes as he was forced to retire following a first-lap crash. The San Marino youngster escaped without major injury but did damage the little finger of his left hand.

After once again demonstrating good potential in free practice, Team San Carlo Honda Gresini’s two riders again struggled to turn that form into top qualifying positions this afternoon, with Shinya Nakano sealing ninth place on the grid whilst Alex De Angelis will start from just behind his team-mate from twelfth place. After finding a good compromise for the bike and tyres in race trim, it will be another major challenge for the San Marino rookie as he looks to make up places at a circuit where overtaking is notoriously difficult.

26 June 2008
Just four days after his Donington Park triumph Casey Stoner was back in action on the Marlboro Ducati to set the fastest lap ever recorded by a motorcycle round the 2.830 mile Assen circuit in the North of Holland this afternoon. The 22 year old World Champion was in stunning form both in the morning and afternoon practice sessions held in bright sunshine, to lead Championship leader Valentino Rossi by over seven tenths of one second. The Australian revealed after his British Grand Prix win on Sunday that the Ducati team had developed some improved electronics which he hoped would continue to be as successful in Assen and that certainly proved the case. Third fastest was American Colin Edwards riding the Tech 3 Yamaha in front of 2006 Assen winner Nicky Hayden on the pneumatic valve Repsol Honda.

Toseland Hammers Another Six in Barcelona
10 June 2008
Yorkshireman James Toseland fought a ferocious battle to score his fourth sixth position of the season in the Cinzano Grand Prix of Catalunya in Barcelona this afternoon. It was a tough race on his debut at the 2.937 miles Circuit De Catalunya. An early tangle with Valentino Rossi pushed the Tech 3 Yamaha rider wide but he fought back and pipped Australian Chris Vermeulen to sixth place on the line. “I had a difficult few opening laps while I settled into a rhythm with the new settings on the bike,” said Toseland, who moved into seventh place in the Championship before his only one appearance in front of the British fans at the bwin.com British Grand Prix at Donington Park in two weeks time. “Valentino passed me and then I got pushed back a bit further before I managed to pull things back. I just got my head down and focussed on gaining some places. It’s hard work at these tracks that I don’t know so I’m really pleased to have qualified and finished the race in sixth position. My aim coming into the race was to finish sixth and improve my championship position and I’ve done both. I’m looking forward to getting to Donington now to see what I can do at a track that I’m familiar with.”
