Bridgestone MotoGP Briefing - Australia

Fresh from an exciting weekend at the Japanese Grand Prix in which Fiat Yamaha rider Valentino Rossi claimed his sixth premier class title, and first using Bridgestone tyres, MotoGP moves directly to the picturesque Phillip Island circuit in southern Australia for round 16 of this season’s 18-race championship. The Australian GP has been a permanent fixture on the calendar since Phillip Island hosted the first event at the end of the 1980s. A string of races were held at the Eastern Creek circuit in Sydney from 1991-1996 before Phillip Island regained hosting duties from 1997 where it has remained ever since. This season’s event will be the 14th in total to be held at the challenging track.

Capirossi & Rizla Suzuki Celebrate Historic Moment

Loris Capirossi will today create history when he begins this afternoon’s MotoGP race, as he sets a new all-time record for appearances at Grand Prix events by one rider. This afternoon will see Capirossi take part in his 277th event, passing the current highest total shared equally with Alex Barros. The amazing achievement stretches back over 19 years of racing at the highest level by the popular Italian star, a career that has so far included three World Championship titles, 29 wins, 99 podiums and 41 pole positions. The San Marino Grand Prix is the 738th Grand Prix event to be staged since the World Championship series began in 1949, meaning that Capirossi has competed in a staggering 37.5% of all GP events!

Goodwood Festival 2008 Coming Soon

Barros Finishes 7th In His Last Race In MotoGP

The last race of the MotoGP World Championship has concluded at the Ricardo Tormo circuit with a record crowd of enthusiastic fans totaling more than 132,500 people, and was truly a festival of motorcycling. The Pramac-d'Antin Team pulled off a commendable seventh position thanks to the fantastic riding by Alex Barros, once again demonstrating that he is a rider of the highest level in the MotoGP class. Team mate Chaz Davies did not contest the race owing to injuries sustained in the previous days.

The first day of Free Practices has once again seen the day dominated by Casey Stoner and his Ducati GP7, as evidenced by his first positions in both of the day's sessions, and demonstrating the potential the Australian holds.The Pramac-d'Antin Team had varying results, with Alex Barros finishing the day in seventh place, whereas his team mate, Chaz Davies, suffered a heavy crash during the morning session and was unable to partake in the afternoon session after being transported to the Hospital of Valencia to verify the extent of his injuries.

The penultimate round of the MotoGP World Championship held at the Malaysian circuit of Sepang has seen yet another victory for Casey Stoner, proving the supremacy of the Ducati-Bridgestone combination. Nonetheless, for the Pramac-Dantin Team, the race was not satifactory due to technical problems. Alex Barros finished in twelfth position and Chaz Davies in seventeenth. In two weeks the final round of the season will be held at the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia, Spain.

Pramac D'Antin Team Confident To Have Good Race In Malaysia

The second day of practices at the circuit of Sepang has finished with the absence of rain in both day's sessions a pleasant surprise. For the Pramac-Dantin Team, it wasn't a very fruitful day, as Alex Barros only managed 12th position, while team mate Chaz Davies lifted himself into 17th spot on the grid.

The first day of Free Practice has not been absolutely positive for the team of Alex Barros and Chaz Davies, both suffering from different problems that prevented either from remaining in the top ten. Without a doubt, the weather will be a decisive factor in tomorrow's Qualifying Practice, as frequent and strong rainstorms have been taking place these last days during the Malaysian afternoons, and are expected to continue throughout the weekend.

The sixteenth race of the season contested at the Phillip Island circuit was clearly a victory for Ducati, the Factory clearly performing well with a one-two punch of Casey Stoner and Loris Capirossi, first and second respectively. The Pramac-Dantin Team finished with a commendable fifth place finish thanks to the hard work and perserverance of Alex Barros, who rode strong throughout the race, while team mate Chaz Davies, regrettably had to retire with a technical problem.

Victorious Stoner Homecoming Puts Ducati On Cloud Nine

A triumphant homecoming for Casey Stoner at Phillip Island, at the head of a Ducati one-two with Loris Capirossi, gave the Italian factory the Constructors and Teams World Championship in perfect fashion at the GMC Australian Grand Prix. In his first race since clinching the riders World Championship at Motegi from outside the podium spots, Stoner was able to start the celebrations in earnest with victory number nine of his flawless 2007 season. The Australian joins the likes of Mick Doohan and Wayne Gardner in winning his home race after taking the premier class title, and did so by storming away from the pack right from the off. Given some early trouble by World Championship predecessor Nicky Hayden, once the American had been eliminated from the equation with a mechanical problem, Stoner could go about his business without needing to look over his shoulder too frequently. He eventually took victory by nearly seven seconds.

Desert Island Dani - Phillip Island

In front of an impressive crowd for a chilly Saturday afternoon at Phillip Island, Dani Pedrosa took pole for tomorrow’s GMC Australian Grand Prix with a storming 1’29.201 lap. The Spaniard, with a composure as cold as the temperatures sweeping the scene of the latest MotoGP round, is looking to save some pride by adding to his victory tally in a season that was meant to be his year in the premier class. Outshone by former 250cc rival Casey Stoner in 2007, a further win to add to that taken at Sachsenring would equal the Repsol Honda rider’s record from last year. Today’s pole position is the second in a row for the current third placed rider.

The Pramac-dantin Team Has Great Expectations For Tomorrow

Today the qualifying positions were established for tomorrow's race in Phillip Island circuit. Three of the four Ducati's in MotoGP will start from the first ten positions, with the Pramac-Dantin Team situated in seventh place, filling the Team with great hopes for tomorrow's event. Alex Barros carried on in great form today, finishing the morning session in third position, and the afternoon's session in seventh, meaning he will start from the third row. Chaz Davies will start from the sixth row after qualifying in only his second MotoGP appearance in 17th place.

The first day of Free Practices in Phillip Island saw the weather once again playing a major role in the day's proceedings, with bright sunshine alternating with cold rain during both morning and afternoon sessions, and forcing the riders to constantly enter the boxes. The fastest rider of the day was recently crowned World Champion, Casey Stoner, aboard his Ducati GP7, while for the Pramac-Dantin Ducati Team, things also started in a good way, with Alex Barros finishing in sixth position, and Chaz Davies in thirteenth.

Alex Barros Finishes In 8th

The fifteenth race on the MotoGP calendar wrapped up with a fine victory for Loris Capirossi about his Ducati GP7. Fellow Ducati rider, Australian Casey Stoner, followed him home in sixth position, which allowed him to attain the brightest crown motorcycle racing, and be proclaimed MotoGP World Champion! The Pramac-Dantin Ducati Team, after two days filled with a multitude of problems, was able to improve in both cases. Alex Barros fought his way forward to eigth place, while Japanese substitute rider, Shinichi Ito, crossed the finish in fifteenth position, earning himself a World Championship point.

Complicated Day For Pramac D´Antin Team

The second and defining day of Free Practices for the category of MotoGP has concluded, with intense heat playing a significant part and making it difficult to work throughout the entire day. This affected the general classification and contrary to the last races, no Ducati was able to classify for the race on Sunday within the first five positions. The pilots of the Pramac-Dantin Ducati team continued to have problems today, and Alex Barros will start from the fifth row while his team mate, Shinichi Ito, will start from the seventh. The race will start at 2:00 PM, local time, and will consist of a total of 24 laps.

Problems For Pramac D´Antin At Motegi

The first day of the MotoGP Free Practices has not gone well for the pilots of the Pramac-Dántin Team. Alex Barros hasn’t found the right balance necessary to ride fast, and waits until tomorrow to make an improvement. The second pilot, Shinichi Ito, is substituting for the first time on a Ducati at this circuit, and today he made adjustments and corrections as he advanced bit by bit and got used to the machine. Tomorrow at 1:50 PM, local time, the Qualifying round will begin, to form the grid for the race on Sunday.

No Points For The Pramac D'Antin In Estoril

The fourteenth race in the World Championship finished with Valentino Rossi returning to his winning ways in flamboyant style, while Championship points leader, Casey Stoner, rode a measured race to finish comfortably in third place, almost all but securing the World Championship for Ducati within the next two races, the second coming at Casey's home race of Australia. Bad luck struck the two riders wearing Pramac D'antin colors, and neither rider was able to finish the race, despite their best efforts.

Fifth Row Start For Barros

The final day of Free Practice and Qualifying in Estoril for the MotoGP class was run in a strong heat that only served to stoke the fires inside the pilots of the Pramac D'antin Ducati as they sought to fight for a top spot in the Grid. Unfortunately, the times did not improve, compared to yesterday's, to the necessary degree, and as such, Alex Barros will start from the fifth row, alongside Marlboro Ducati Factory pilot, Loris Capirossi, and right behind them they are joined by the Desmosedici of Alex Hofmann.

Barros 9th In Estoril Free Practice

The circuit of Estoril is hosting round fourteen of the MotoGP World Championship. The Portuguese circuit is located just a few kilometers from the coast, and is reknowned for being a tricky and technical track, as well as having shifting weather patterns. Due to the circuit’s emphasis on high speed cornering and low-speed flickability, the right balance of the motorcycle and tires is fundamental. The Pramac-d´Antin team finished the first day of Free Practices with Alex Barros in ninth and Alex Hofmann in eighteenth.
