Airwaves Ducati Kick Off Round 7 at Oulton Park

The Airwaves Ducati team returned to Oulton Park today for Round 7 of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship. Both Airwaves Ducati riders continually improved their times during the day, posting their fastest laps during the second practice session. Shane Byrne’s fastest time of 1:37.142 secured him 3rd whilst Leon Camier’s best time of 1:37.268 resulted in a 5th place finish. Shane had been looking forward to coming back to the track where he secured his first double win of the 2008 season and used the days two practice sessions to build on what the team had learnt from their last visit to Oulton Park.

Airwaves Ducati Return to Oulton

After a three week break in the racing calendar, the Airwaves Ducati team returns to Oulton Park this weekend for round 7 of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship. On their last visit to the Cheshire circuit back in May, the Airwaves Ducati duo of Shane Byrne and Leon Camier secured two podium place finishes each, with Shane recording his first double race win of the season.

Skidmarx McGuinness Replica Screen for Honda Fireblade

Skidmarx have introduced new screens and a hugger for the 2008 Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade, including a replica of the screen used John McGuinness when he won this year’s Senior TT on the Padgett’s Manx Gas Racing Honda. Skidmarx manufacture their screens by hand in the UK from 3mm acrylic and this gives them the flexibility to create a variety of shapes and sizes to suit the requirements of top race teams, like in BSB. Three versions are produced for the CBR1000RR – standard, double bubble and McGuinness replica – all of which are designed to replace the original item using the existing mounting points and fasteners.

Airwaves Unveil New Look ‘Airwaves Pro’ Line Up

Airwaves has today (8th July) unveiled its new ‘Airwaves Pro’ line up, which features Airwaves Ducati stars Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne and Leon Camier, FIA World Rally Championship driver, Matthew Wilson and A1 Team GBR Team Principal, Katie Clements. All three motorsport sponsorships will form a new look ‘Airwaves Pro’ campaign which aims to inspire and empower people to ‘KICK UP A GEAR’, and enable consumers to ‘live their dream’. Airwaves® has been the title sponsors of the Airwaves Ducati British Superbike team since 2005, providing a high level association with the world’s premier national bike championship.

One Two for Byrne & Airwaves Ducati

Airwaves Ducati leave Mallory Park 1st and 3rd in the championship after Shane Byrne secured a win and a 2nd place finish and Leon Camier achieved a 8th place in round six today. In an eventful first race Leon was unfortunate that a good start, which saw him make a move around the outside, ended in him tipping off at the first corner. Shane was in 5th as the leading group moved away from the rest of the field. He then picked off the Suzuki and two Honda‚s, eventually taking the lead on lap 26. He pulled away to take the chequered flag and his 8th win of the season.

Postive Start for Airwaves Ducati

It was a tentative start to the 6th round of the British Superbike championship at Mallory Park today, as wet weather resulted in limited track time. The Airwaves Ducati team had completed 76 laps in a dry first session, more than any of their competitors, however Shane and Leon chose not to return to the track for second wet practice. Shane was fastest for much of the first 50 minute session, recording his best time of 56.793 on lap 17 of 39. This time held the number one spot until the final 2 minutes when he was pushed down into 2nd place. Leon saw a continual improvement in his times in the final 15 minutes of practice. His fastest time of 57.049 came on his final lap to place him in 5th.

Byrne Hoping for Double Celebration

Airwaves Ducati star, Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne, arrives at Mallory Park this weekend hoping to score on two fronts. In addition to seeking further race wins to extend his lead at the top of the British Superbike Championship standings, ‘Shakey’ will be keeping one eye on Spain’s Euro 2008 final preparations against Germany. With no domestic interest, the Spaniards have been Byrne’s team of choice due to the amount of time he spends in the country, and the hospitality he received after Airwaves Ducati’s recent pre season testing session at Calafat.

Airwaves Ducati Look to Continue Form

Airwaves Ducati travel to the 1.41 mile Mallory Park circuit in Leicestershire this weekend, for round six of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship. Shane Byrne enjoyed a win and a third place at the short but demanding circuit in 2007, whilst Leon achieved two 8th place finishes. Although it is one of their less favoured circuits on the calendar, the Airwaves Ducati riders arrive at Mallory Park confident having achieved a double one-two at Snetterton a couple of weeks ago. Leon Camier, who secured his debut BSB win at Snetterton and is now 2nd in the championship behind his team mate, is confident for a positive performance.

Maximum Points for Airwaves Ducati

Leon Camier and Shane Byrne achieved a win and second place apiece at Snetterton today in round 5 of the British Superbike championship. Leon Camier enjoyed the first BSB win of his career in race one, with Shane Byrne taking the honours in the second race. Leon held the lead for the majority of race one, holding off a late challenge from his team mate on the last lap to take his maiden BSB win. Championship leader Shane Byrne was in 4th place until lap 15, when he moved up to 2nd within 3 laps to cross the line 0.09 seconds behind his team mate.

Front Row For Airwaves Ducati

Both Airwaves Ducati’s will start from the front row of the grid for round 5 of the British Superbike Championship at Snetterton tomorrow. Shane Byrne set the fastest time of the weekend to take pole position ahead of his team mate Leon Camier in 3rd. Having been 1st and 3rd in practice this morning both Airwaves Ducati riders were confident ahead of qualifying. Shane pushed hard early in the session, recording his fastest time of 1:05.162 with 30 minutes remaining to take pole. Leon’s fastest time of 1:05.420 placed him 3rd before rain interrupted the session.

Airwaves Ducati Prepare for Super-Fast Snetterton

Airwaves Ducati return to the track this weekend for round 5 of the British Superbike Championship at Snetterton. The team head to the Norfolk circuit with Shane Byrne leading the championship on 190 points and team mate Leon Camier in 3rd on 107 points. The 1.95 mile Snetterton circuit is one of the fastest on the BSB calendar, the speed required on its long straights coupled with few opportunities to overtake makes it a challenging circuit for the Ducati 1098R's. However following the teams‚ impressive results at Donington 3 weeks ago, where Shane achieved a double win and Leon secured 4th and 5th positions, Airwaves Ducati are positive about the weekend ahead.

GSE Racing Focus on the Season Ahead

Further to the issue by the MCRCB of their general bulletin 2008/9, GSE Racing wishes to make the following comment. "We firmly believe that this weight increase is wholly unjustified, and has been made without any regard to the actual performance comparison between the Ducati 1098R Superbike and its 4-cylinder competitors. However, following a meeting with the MCRCB at Brands Hatch on Friday, we are pleased that they agreed to our proposal to provide a tolerance of 2kg to the minimum weight of 175kg thereby allowing us to be able to continue our racing activities in this years British Superbike Championship, whilst keeping to within the safe dry weight parameters as instructed by Ducati Corse."

Best Weekend Yet for Airwaves Scholar Leon Morris!

21 year old Airwaves Superbike Scholar Leon Morris, from Stockbridge in Hampshire was in action again last weekend at Donington Park. Have a look at his thoughts on how the weekend went. I’m really pleased with the way things went at Donington Park, I beat my best time by more than 6 seconds which just goes to show the progress I’ve made in the past few months. It was definitely my best performance yet.

Simon Andrews Secures Donington ‘Airwaves Kick Up A Gear Award’

Simon Andrews, who rides for Lloyds British Jentin Yamaha, today won the ‘Airwaves KICK UP A GEAR Award’ for his outstanding performance in the British Superbike Championship round. Andrews, who qualified in 24th position, finished the first of the day’s two races in 10th position and then went one better in race two and finished 9th, making up a total of 29 places. The ‘Airwaves KICK UP A GEAR Award’ is presented to the rider who has gained the most places from their qualifying position at each race over the course of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship season.

Byrne Does the Double at Donington

Shane Byrne extended his championship lead with a fantastic double race win in extremely windy conditions at Donington Park today. Leon Camier secured himself valuable championship points with a 5th and 4th place finish. Shane Byrne dominated race one, leading for all but two laps, taking the chequered flag 2.4 seconds ahead of his nearest rival. Leon Camier had to work hard to regain places having dropped down the field from the start. The introduction of the safety car on lap eight enabled him to close the gap on the riders ahead and he battled it out to eventually take 5th place on the final lap.

Donington Park Pole for Airwaves Ducati

Shane Byrne secured his 3rd pole position of the season at a very wet Donington Park today. Leon Camier will start on the second row in 8th place. Following a dry practice this morning the conditions quickly changed ahead of qualifying. Shane, who had appeared to have secured pole position early on, sat out for much of the session, only returning to the track with eight minutes of qualifying left when he had been knocked off the top spot. He then regained pole position with a time of 1:46.639 on his final lap of the day. Leon completed 22 laps in the wet conditions with his fastest time of 1:40.023 also coming on his final lap.

Airwaves Ducati Get on With the Job at Donington

Airwaves Ducati put the last few days behind them and got on with the job at round four of the British Superbike Championship today. Shane Byrne finished the first session on top and the second in 4th place, whilst team mate Leon Camier was 5th and 7th. A number of red flags disrupted both 50 minute sessions but the Airwaves Ducati riders still completed an impressive 103 laps. Shane was lapping consistently throughout the day; he recorded his fastest time, 1:32.419, on lap 20 of 26 in the second session. Leon's quickest time of 1:33.101 came on his final lap of the day, after he had completed more laps than any other competitor.

Airwaves Ducati Confirmed for Donington

Following a week of negotiations with MCRCB Team Principal Darrell Healey has confirmed that GSE Racing will race at Donington Park this weekend. Both Airwaves Ducati riders are looking forward to getting back on their Ducati 1098R’s at the 2.5mile Derbyshire circuit following their three podium place finishes at Brands Hatch two weeks ago. Their impressive form has resulted in a 44 point lead in the championship for Shane Byrne with team mate Leon Camier in 3rd place on 83 points.

Aaron Zanotti Secures Brands ‘Airwaves Kick up a Gear Award’

Aaron Zanotti, who rides for Red Viper Racing, today won the ‘Airwaves KICK UP A GEAR Award’ for his outstanding performance in the British Superbike Championship round. Zanotti, who lined up 25th on the grid for the two races at the 2.3 mile Kent circuit, finished 17th in race one and14th in race two, making up a total of 19 places. The ‘Airwaves KICK UP A GEAR Award’ is presented to the rider who has gained the most places from their qualifying position at each race over the course of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship season.
