Plater Claims Pole for AIM Yamaha at NW200
Yesterday
Steve Plater has claimed pole position for the start of the two Supersport races at the Kennedy International North West 200 races on Saturday while AIM Yamaha teammate Ian Hutchinson was fourth fastest and will start from row two. Plater had been running pole for most of the session until Alastair Seeley posted a quick lap towards the end of Thursday’s final qualifying to take over at the top of the timing sheet. But Plater was quick to respond with a time of 4m 33.749 seconds on his very last lap beating Seeley by 0.503s to start Saturday’s two Supersport races from pole position. Last year Plater finished second and a very close fourth in the two six-lap events and will be hungry for the win this time around.

AIM Yamaha Head to Brands Hatch

AIM Yamaha will be fielding just the one rider in the rearranged Brands Hatch opening round of the British Superbike championship. Although Steve Plater claimed a 13th place in the qualifying that took place at the postponed meeting back in April he will be unable to take his place on the gird because of a date clash with the Albacete round of the World Endurance championship. However, Ian Hutchinson will be in attendance at Brands Hatch where he will contest the British Supersport race on Sunday.

AIM Yamaha Bring Points in at Oulton
08 May 2008
Both AIM Yamaha riders, Steve Plater and Ian Hutchinson brought more points back to the team from Oulton Park on Monday, Plater scoring a 12th place in the second Superbike race and Hutchy a ninth on the Supersport event. A few niggling teething issues with the bike disrupted Plater’s free practice sessions but these appeared to be resolved in time for the 50- minute qualification period on Sunday. As the track began to dry Plater switched to a qualifying tyre but on the run to Druids the chain snapped and he had to jog back to the garage and jump on his spare bike.

Sean Emmett Joins AIM Yamaha At Thuxton
14 April 2008
Alistair Flanagan is pleased to announce that he has secured the services of Sean Emmett to replace Steve Plater at Thruxton. Plater is absent because of World Endurance duties with GMT94 Yamaha at the Le Mans 24-hour race this weekend and Emmett will contest both races in the 2008 Bennetts British Superbike season opener at Thruxton for the team. Due to the severe weather conditions the Brands Hatch date had to be postponed and will now take place over the weekend of May 10/11 with qualifying times gained at the Kent circuit carried forward to the rearranged date.
