Safety Focus for Bike Show Youth Day

Organised by the Motor Cycle Industry Association (MCIA), the International Motorcycle and Scooter Show’s annual Youth Day will see 700 young people between 14 and 17 years of age enjoying a great day out at the NEC on December 2nd – right in the middle of Britain’s premier bike show running from November 28th to December 7th. Youth Day is designed to engage young people in road safety, and this year takes on extra significance. The costs of motoring, including high insurance and fuel prices, are seeing increasing numbers of teenagers taking to the roads on scooters, mopeds and small-engined motorcycles. Moped and scooter sales are up by 10.8 per cent and 5.3 per cent respectively this year.

Storming Comeback for Edmondson at Crychan

The third round of the Metzeler ACU British Enduro Championship took place in the Crychan Forest near Llandovery at the weekend, with Relentless Suzuki Enduro rider, Paul Edmondson, experiencing the ultimate in highs and lows on his RM250. Fresh from his recent World Enduro Championship success, Edmondson was keen to strengthen his BEC series standings but had to endure the highs and lows of enduro after a problem with his rear shock absorber on day one forced him to retire from further competition on the day. Wet conditions made for very hard going but Edmondson was riding well, completely unfazed by the slippery course, until the mechanical hiccup.

Hollyoaks Actor To Race In GSX-R Trophy

Hollyoaks actor, Stuart Manning, who plays Russell Owen in the hit Channel 4 television soap, has signed-up to race in the forthcoming ACU Suzuki GSX-R600 Trophy race, being held at Anglesey circuit in North Wales on the 26th and 27th July. Manning, a keen motorcyclist, accepted the invitation to race in the one make race series, after watching the second round of the series in June as it supported the British Grand Prix at Donington Park in Leicestershire.

Bright Future for British Supercross

After 11 years of British Supercross a long term deal has finally been inked between Future West, the long time promoter of British Supercross and the Auto Cycle Union to sanction exclusively the British Supercross Championship. The agreement will set the stage for the long term growth of the sport to its full potential in the UK. The deal was signed and sealed last week by Future West's John Hellam and ACU Chairman Jim Parker.

North West ACU Champion Rob Barber

Relentless Youth Academy Star Takes Supercross Title

Team Relentless Youth Academy rider James Dunn became the small-wheel 85cc ACU British Supercross Champion at the weekend as he took the overall win at the final round of the series held at the O2 stadium in London.

Liverpool Supercross A Huge Success

Future West are extremely happy with the inaugural Liverpool British Supercross Event. Crowds flocked into the brand new Liverpool Echo Arena on Friday and Saturday night, 25th and 26th January. Nunn Joins Supercross Race Of Champions At Liverpool

Former British Supercross and Motocross Champion Carl Nunn will make his return to British Supercross competition at Liverpool's brand new Echo Arena on January 25th and 26th for rounds two and three of the Future West ACU British Supercross Championship. Nunn who was unable to get his new Motovision ride ready in time for Sheffield is now ready to put his mark on the series and his Suzuki on top of the podium.

Future West Promotions have moved the final round of the ACU British Supercross Championship to the brand new state of the art O2 Arena nestled inside the huge Millennium Dome in London. Originally planned for Wembley Arena on March 1st the event now moves to the O2 Arena on February 23, 2008.

South Wales Fights Chinese Mini-Moto Menace

Town halls perceive a mini-motorbike menace sweeping Britain and Swansea, in South Wales, is trying to tackle the problem with positive measures. Swansea Council is proposing the first off-road motorbike track in Wales to combat the problem of scrambling. A hotline is also being organised for people to specifically report illegal scrambling, while expert training and advice workshops are being arranged for children in the area owning mini-motorbikes. The Auto Cycling Union (ACU) has been involved in the proposals from the onset.
