Michelin on One Tyre Rule

The decision to move to a single tyre supplier for the 2009 MotoGP World Championship is a major change to the regulations of a series that was created in 1949. Tom Sykes steps up to World Superbikes with Yamaha for 2009

The Yamaha Motor Italia World Superbike Team has signed promising young British rider Tom Sykes for the 2009 season with the option to extend for 2010. The 23yr old from Huddersfield in England will ride the all new 2009 Yamaha YZF R1 in next year’s World Superbike Championship. Sykes has proved to be a competitive and talented rider in the 2008 British Superbike Championship, showing an intelligent and mature riding style beyond his years.

Pourcel Debuts 2009 KX450F in Dublin

Grand Prix Kawasaki Racing’s Sébastien Pourcel has been sensational in this year’s FIM MX1 Motocross World Championship as the 23–year-old Frenchman has taken more pole positions than any other rider, won the most heats – as well as two Grand Prix overall – and currently sits sixth in the series standings on his factory KX450F-SR still with a chance of taking the title. For the remaining three rounds of the MX1 championship Kawasaki will give Sébastien an even greater edge over his competition as he’ll debut the brand new fuel-injected 2009 KX450F in competition at the Grand Prix of Ireland in Fairyhouse, Dublin on August 31. Lighter, faster and stronger than ever before the 2009 KX450F is more than machine enough to push Pourcel back in to the winner’s circle.
