Experienced Macau Grand Prix campaigners, MSS Discovery have announced their intention to return to the famous 3.8 mile Macau street circuit in November in a bid to repeat their former race wining success at the traditional end of year racing celebration.
With three Macau wins under their belts, the team are one of the favoured line ups for success and traditionally attract the cream of the UK’s roads specialists.
“We are delighted to announce that we have signed TT winner Ian Hutchinson who is currently one of strongest Pure Road Racers in the UK, and returning back to the Team is the 'likeable Scot' Steve Allan, who is current Supersport lap record holder and a 3 x winner of the event”
“As a celebration of road racing, and simply what the true spirit of competition is, the Macau Grand Prix takes some beating”, commented Morgan. “Mike Trimby, and the rest of the organisers both in the UK and on the peninsular of Macau, have always blended a professional true road race event with a degree of fun and entertainment sadly lacking in Europe’s multi million pound racing circus”.
Regarding the rider line up, Morgan was understandably enthusiastic to see the return of Allan, in addition to having the undoubted race winning potential of Hutchinson as part of the team.
“Steve has not really played much part in UK racing this year”, admitted Morgan. “That said he is a proven winner at Macau and knows the circuit like the back of his hand. He understands just how far you can push on a track with little or no run-off and has a riding style that is botheconomical and measured – exactly what is needed for Supersport success”.
Of Hutchinson, Morgan has high hopes while remaining pragmatic about the undoubtedchallenges of a pure street circuit. “Ian is Mr 110% and that is something we will have to channel if he is to dominate the big Superbike race. He’ll be up against the likes of Rutter and McGuiness who are acknowledged Macau experts, but that neither daunts “Hutchy” or us. The way I see it there are perhaps less that half a dozen riders that can win the Superbike race at Macau.. and we have one of ‘em – bring it on!”.
