The Lakeside Hammers have strengthened their injury hit squad in readiness for the Elite League Play offs by signing Polish star Tomasz Jedrzejak on loan from Belle Vue.

Jedrzejak has been out of British Speedway for several seasons and in that time has established himself as a quality rider in both Swedish and Polish League racing. He just failed to make next year's Grand Prix series after scoring 11 points in yesterday's GP Challenge meeting, finishing ahead of a score of top Elite perfomers.

The Pole will join the team on a 5 point average which, should the team qualify for the Play Off finals, means he will race at reserve in October and has been brought in by the Club primarily to add big track experience to strengthen the team for the Championship finale.  He will make his debut on Wednesday having travelled by road from Sweden in order to bring his own equipment with him.

Co Promoter & team Manager Jon Cook:

"Tomasz comes to us with a huge recommendation from several of his new team mates who think he is just the kind of rider who will slot into our set up given his performance yesterday and week in, week out in league racing.

Now was not the time to bring in an untried new asset and as brilliant a job as riders like Ed (Kennett), Lewis (Bridger) and Rory (Schlein) have done for us in recent weeks, we don't want to take guest riders into the Play Offs if we can avoid it."

Cook continues:

"Tomasz will also be around for the Craven Shield Final at another track that should suit him, although I have seen him also have some impressive rides on small tracks and am sure two home league matches at the Raceway will be just what he needs to also be a force at home.

"With Jonas Davidsson set to make a return next Sunday in Poland we will soon have a team of Hammers to support in time for the 29th."

Hammers also hope that Lubos Tomicek will be given the all clear to return after a further visit to Hospital in the Czech Republic on Thursday and have named the following teams for the week ahead.
