Repsol KTM 125 rider Marc Marquez was KTM's best performer at the Indianapolis Grand Prix, scoring a strong sixth place, less than half a second behind the podium rankings.
A good set-up and some last-minute fine-tuning to his bike allowed the Spanish teenager a fast and consistent ride up with the front riders. He was in the running for a podium place when the race was cancelled after 16 laps when rain and wind lashed the track.
Italian Onde 2000 KTM rider Raffaele de Rosa also scored valuable World Championship points with 13th position, while German Red Bull KTM rookie Jonas Folger, riding in Randy Krummenacher's slot achieved his goal to complete the race and finished twenty fourth. Krummenacher is taking a two race break to try to recover health and form.
Marc Marquez (Repsol KTM 125 - 13th in 1.52,069):"This was a difficult day. It first rained, then it stopped again, and nobody knew what was going to happen. But in the end, I was able to ride a good race, and to battle within the front group of riders once again. We worked very well in practice yesterday, and I knew that I had a good set-up for the race. My only problem was that the group around me rode very aggressively, and I could have used a little bit more engine power. When it started to rain, I tried to keep the throttle open and get into the lead of that group, but it wasn't to be. But as I said, I am happy with sixth place!"
Jonas Folger (Red Bull KTM 125 - 24th):"I was starting on an outside grid position, and when everybody pulled in for the first corner, I was pushed even further off the best line and lost a few places. I was then able to fight within my group for quite some time, but later on, I made a few small mistakes and lost the draft of the others. Of course, 24th is not where I want to be, but altogether, this race was a good learning experience. I am now looking forward to my next chance in Japan!"
