The weather conditions did not have mercy on the first day of free practice for the Grand Prix of Indianapolis, but they did not affect Yuki Takahashi who finished the morning’s practice in eighth position. The JiR Team Scot rider is dedicated to getting comfortable with the US circuit, which has different asphalt conditions, along with significant differences in grip levels. Yuki continues to gather more information on the setting of the bike, and if the weather does not worsen, Yuki will focus on improving his performance in the first day of official tests this afternoon.

Gianni Berti - Technical Coordinator, JiR Team Scot:

"We have taken a good result in the first round of tests, with the rain. The work today will focus on developing general settings on the bike. We have a fundamental concern over the choice of tyres, given the different grip from the varying asphalt on the different parts of the circuit. Despite this, Yuki has started well is getting ready to race. "

Yuki Takahashi - Pilot JiR Team Scot 250GP (HONDA RS250RW 8th best time: 1'57 "398):

"The first part of practice was not easy today, because the surface of the circuit has different levels of grip. The new asphalt is very slippery, while the old is good and there are some corners that you do not see the exit of, so it’s difficult to learn these corners. We must be careful to choose the right tyres, but we think we have identified a way forward. Today I will concentrate mainly to do many kilometres, without seeking the quickest time, but instead to develop the bike, improve it again and aim for a good race on Sunday.”

Yutaka Hirano - Chief Technical JiR Team Scot:

“Too bad for the rain, which disturbs our work and doesn’t help with us learning a new circuit, but the conditions are equal for all riders. We are working to find the best balance of the bike, and to develop the settings. If the weather conditions do not worsen our times out on track will improve. Today, however, it is important for us to find the right rhythm and to simply learn the track.”
