After an excellent two days on track the Lakeside Hammers management team of Stuart Douglas and Jon Cook are now targeting a top of the table finish and the title of League winners.

The team will prepare for three matches in as many days next week with the final away meeting of the season at Peterborough on Thursday 18th sandwiched between a double helping of Raceway action.

The Hammers will face Wolverhampton on Wednesday 17th and Peterborough will become the final league visitors to Essex two days later on Friday 19th.

Times may have changed and a League title no longer means the team will be Champions - but the strength of character shown by all at the Club under the extraordinary conditions of serious injury to three of their top four riders would be richly rewarded with a top place finish ahead of the Play Offs to determine this year's champions.

Speaking after Thursday evening's win at Ipswich, owner Stuart Douglas said: "This is an amazing time to be a Hammers fan and I am so proud of everyone at the club.
"We have shown such positivity over the last few weeks to push on and not only guarantee ourselves a home tie in the semi final but also be in with a genuine chance of taking top spot. The misery days of two consecutive wooden spoons seem a long time ago now and the rest of British Speedway should take note as we intend to stay at the right end of the table for years to come".

His Co-Promoter and Team Manager Jon Cook continued: "I said this was potentially this was the biggest week in the club's history and it was - until next week now! Top spot is there for the taking and we are determined to keep up our winning ways and carry that into the Play Offs".
