For 2009 Embassy will once again be entering two riders in the British Supersport Championship and will be hoping to build on their amazing success this year with wildcard entries in several World Supersport rounds. The team has announced that recent meetings with Triumph have confirmed that the British factory will be represented in the BSB paddock for a further year by Embassy Racing.
The team will be holding tests over the winter to determine who will partner the already confirmed Glen Richards as the second rider on the all-new Triumph Daytona 675’s. However, the teams junior superstock rider AJ Venter will be given an opportunity to prove himself on a supersport machine before the end of the season in the hope of snatching the coveted second Embassy supersport ride.
Thanks to Paul YoungIn announcing their official plans for 2009, Embassy has also taken the opportunity to thank experienced and respected rider Paul Young for his invaluable services during the year. Instrumental in brokering the Triumph factory deal for Embassy last year, Paul is now coming to the end of his yearlong contract with the team and is already making plans for next year. His knowledge of the 675 has proven vital for Embassy and his guidance and input have much to do with the current position at the top of the supersport championship of Embassy teammate Glen Richards.
Paul spoke of both his delight and disappointment of the year“I am delighted to have been part of the deal that has seen Triumph hook up with Embassy. Obviously I am sorry to see the season coming to an end, but it was only ever going to be a one year contract to get the team up to speed with the 675. I feel my work has paid off with the current level of success and am only disappointed that bad luck has prevented me from having as much of the joy on track as I have had off it.”
