Bardney road race specialist Ivan Lintin scored a double podium in the two 250cc class races at Scarborough at the Cock o’the North meeting around the famous Oliver’s Mount course.
Lintin notched up a second and third place finish on the McKinstry Racing 250cc Yamaha before switching to the Sunfish UK 600cc machine, which he took to a third and fourth place in the 600cc class.
He was hoping to have his own 750cc bike prepared for the open class event but when he realised it would not be ready in time he opted to go out on the 600 bike and although very much underpowered to the rest of the field he scored an eighth and 10th place in that class.
The following week Lintin returned to Ireland and to Kells where he rode to a fine fourth place in the 250cc event before switching to the Barron Transport 1000cc Suzuki for the Open Class race. He completed that in 13th position and went on to secure 12th place in the Grand Final.
“I absolutely hate the place,” explained Ivan. “I had two huge crashes here last year and that has knocked my confidence a bit. But I came through the weekend unscathed this time after gently easing my way back into it.”
Lintin has been juggling his racing with work and is struggling for time to get his bikes fully prepared for his debut at the Isle of Man Manx Grand Prix in August.
He intends to contest the Junior race on the Sunfish UK 600cc machine, the Newcomers event on the 750 bike and the Lightweight race on the 250cc machine.
“I have not ridden the Isle of Man course before so I will be an absolute newcomer. I will be over there for nearly three weeks, as I have to attend a newcomers briefing prior to practice week. We then have a week of practice to acclimatise ourselves and the bikes and to learn the circuit. Race week is set for the week beginning August 25 and I will be racing on the Monday, Wednesday and Friday of that week.”
