It’s 111 wins and counting for Ian Lougher following the conclusion of the annual Cock o’ the North Road Races at Scarborough.
Lougher was at his superb best round the historic Oliver’s Mount circuit and his dominance was such, that he was one victory short of achieving a 100% record in every race he contested.
The honour of the most wins at Oliver’s Mount goes to the experienced Welshman and following the first day’s action on Saturday it was easy to see why, as he blasted his way to five wins from five starts. Ian was successful in both Superbike races on the team’s Yamaha R1 Superbike, he then followed this up with victory in the 600cc race on the impressive Team Blackhorse Yamaha Supersport R6 and then showed his renowned versatility by taking victory in the 125cc and 250cc events on the Barnes Racing machines to take his tally to 108 wins.
Not content with this, the following day Ian simply picked up where he left off. In sunny conditions, he again took the honours in the Superbike, 600cc and 250cc races and then narrowly lost out to Chris Palmer in the 125cc class but still graced the podium with a second place finish.
The final race on Ian’s agenda saw him take to the grid for the feature Cock o’ the North event and again he produced the goods to take victory and confirm his place as the most successful rider ever round the North Yorkshire venue.
Ian Lougher:“I’m delighted with my form in the last week, both at the Southern 100 and now at Scarborough and I am also pleased to have been able to repay my team and sponsors for their hard work and support.”
This week Ian takes a well earned break from his own racing schedule as the team heads for Oulton Park and the next round of the National Junior Superstock Championship, where Olie Linsdell will once again be in action in the Team Blackhorse Yamaha colours.
