With the funeral of Darren Boocock and his wife Sharon taking place on Friday this week, Paul Hurry and the organisers of his Testimonial have taken the decision to amend the original start time.

Hurry said:

"Although I did not know Darren that well, he was a popular member of the Speedway family and there are obviously riders and officials involved in my meeting who wish to attend the funeral in Sheffield on Friday and pay their respects."

"Therefore the decision was made to amend the start time to 7.30pm with the first race getting underway at 7.45pm.  My thoughts are with both their families, friends and of course their 12 year old son Jack at this time."

Batchelor is back for Hurry

Swindon's Australian rider Troy Batchelor makes his comeback from injury in Paul Hurry's Testimonial Meeting on Friday 18 July.

Troy will be replacing Peterborough's Danny King, who will now be travelling with the Great Britain squad for the World Team Cup at Vojens.

Batchelor has been out the saddle for five weeks with an elbow injury sustained in Poland and the sight of the young Aussie back on track will be a welcome one for his Swindon Promoter, Alan Rossiter.

The confirmed list of riders for Friday's event are as follows:

Leigh Lanham, Chris Neath, Troy Batchelor, Ty Proctor, Lewis Bridger, Tommy Allen, Cameron Woodward, Glen Phillips, Joe Screen, Ollie Allen, Simon Stead, David Howe, Peter Karlsson, Chris Kerr, Steve Johnstone, Lubos Tomicek.

This promises to be a great night of entertainment for one of speedway's true racers and, as well as the exciting sixteen rider line up, he will also be joined by Speedway superstars Mark Loram, Peter Collins, Michael Lee, Gordon Kennett, Malcolm Simmons, Egon Muller, Jeremy Doncaster, Steve Schofield, Barry Thomas, Paul Woods, Paul Whittacker, Ted Hubbard, Graham Miles, Steve Weatherley, along with all of the 1991 treble winning Arena-Essex team.

Fans are asked to remember the amended start time of 7.30pm with the first race at 7.45pm. The gates will open at 5.30pm and the usual bus service calling at Romford, Hornchurch and Upminster will be running which arrives at the Raceway at 7.30pm.
