Gipsey Bridge rider Bruce Wilson is aiming to bag his first points of the season in his second visit to Oulton Park in Cheshire for round six of the Metzeler National Superstock 600 series.
For one reason or another Wilson has been unsuccessful in claiming a points finish in his first five outings in the championship but is adamant his luck will change this weekend and he will begin his championship challenge with a strong points scoring finish to his race at Oulton Park.
On his last visit to the Cheshire circuit back in May, Wilson was desperately unlucky to have a mechanical failure when running in a comfortable 10th position. But for that he would have opened his account with six championship points but it was not to be and this time around he is desperate to make amends.
The Superstock 600 championship has taken a five-week break from competition as they were not included on the race programme for Mallory and Wilson is eager to get back on track and get some points under his belt.
Because of the reduced track time available on Sunday at Oulton Park, the 15-lap Superstock 600 race has been brought forward to Saturday and will now be run on Saturday afternoon.
“I am looking forward to my race,” said Wilson. “I was devastated with the engine failure on my last visit to Oulton and will be going all out to make sure of a decent points scoring finish this time. I like the circuit and it has been good to me in the past so lets hope I can put my bad luck behind me and finally begin to make progress.”
Free practice and first qualifying are on Friday with the second and final qualifying session on Saturday morning to determine the grid positions for the 15-lap race that is scheduled to start at 3.10pm on Saturday.
