It will be another busy weekend for Boston racer Ben Wilson who is to contest a double round of the Metzeler National Superstock championship plus a round of the Henderson Yamaha R1 Cup at Oulton Park over the coming weekend.

The Superstock championship has enjoyed a five-week break from activity, the last action being at Snetterton back in June where Wilson scored a seventh place in the first of two planned outings in the series that day. The second race was cancelled due to adverse weather conditions causing delays to the race programme and the event was subsequently rearranged for the Oulton Park meeting this weekend.

On his first visit to the Cheshire track in May Wilson rode to a fine fifth place finish on his debut in the series and will be looking for more of the same this time around.

“I usually go well at Oulton Park,” said Wilson. “It is an undulating circuit and very demanding but it’s a track I am at ease with and I am hoping to pull off a couple of top results at the weekend.”

After competing in four of the five rounds to date Wilson is sitting in 10th place overall but the points are very close and two good finishes at Oulton Park could see him leap up the leaderboard and into the top six.

The first race is to be run on Saturday afternoon with race two on Sunday directly after the second leg of the British Superbike championship.

Oulton Park heralds the start of the Henderson R1 Autumn Cup. Wilson featured strongly in the Spring Cup and ended the six race championship in a close third place

Although the series is run over the full season it has been split into two separate championships with six rounds in each, the overall champion being declared at the end of the season on aggregate scores. The last few races have seen Wilson become a frequent visitor to the podium and he is positive he can produce a win at Oulton Park.

“I have been second and third on numerous occasions now and the top step of the podium is beckoning me. It is only a matter of time before I get up there and I will be aiming my sights at just that on Sunday.”

Free practice and qualifying take place over Friday and Saturday with the first 15-lap Superstock race scheduled for 3.55pm on Saturday. The Henderson R1 Cup, run over 12 laps is set to start at 2pm on Sunday and the second Superstock race is scheduled for 5.20pm. Both the R1 Cup and the second Superstock race will benefit from live TV coverage by Eurosport to be shown on Eurosport 2.
