The Alice Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland didn’t bring what the DeGraaf Grand Prix Team expected. Stevie Bonsey was the only rider who finished the race and ended up on an 18th spot. Hugo van den Berg had to retire the race because of a technical failure. Also Danny Webb retired after a little cruise in the gravel.

After a wet warm-up session, the race started on a dry track. There were still drops of rain coming out of the sky but the race director confirmed the race as a dry race. Just after the chequered flag the rain was coming so the 250cc race went on a wet track.

Hugo van den Berg had a bad start but managed to pass a couple of riders in the first lap and passed as 27th. After a couple of laps the bike broke down and the race was over. The team tried to fix it but they couldn’t find it in the time they had.

Stevie Bonsey tried to recover from his bad start and moved up to the field. Bonsey got a connection to the group which were battling for the 10th place. The American didn’t manage to pass the riders and ended up on a 18th position.

Danny Webb had a good start but lost it in the first lap. The first lap we found Webb as 31st on the timesheets. After a couple of laps Webb managed to pass a lot of riders and moved up to the 24th position. Webb made a mistake in the second last turn and run off the track. Webb decided to come into the pitlane and didn’t want to risk a crash because of his collarbone.

Stevie Bonsey (18th):

“Today was the worst race I have had all year! In the beginning I felt strong and was moving forwards. Half way through I had a problem with the front end and I couldn’t brake as hard as I wanted to. Also I couldn’t get the bike to turn right in to the corners. I rode not well enough this race. We have holiday now and I want to chill out a bit but also get fully focused and fit back for the next race at Brno.”

Hugo van den Berg (DNF):

“My start wasn’t so good and a lost some positions. I made up some positions in the first lap and I felt very comfortable. I was battling in a big group and I had fun. Then the bike broke down and I had to come into the pit lane and lost a good race. I know for sure that I could finish on a good position but I was unluckily today. The feeling was good and I want to keep this feeling for the next race after the break in Brno.”

Danny Webb (DNF):

“My start was good but I messed up in the first lap. I was 31st! I could improve in the laps after the beginning and moved up to the 24th position. I wasn’t aggressive enough and made also a mistake and run off track. Then I decided to call it a day because I didn’t want to risk a crash. My collarbone going better every day and I want to give it a rest now and use the holiday to heal it so I will be 100% fit at Brno.”
