Airwaves has today (8th July) unveiled its new ‘Airwaves Pro’ line up, which features Airwaves Ducati stars Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne and Leon Camier, FIA World Rally Championship driver, Matthew Wilson and A1 Team GBR Team Principal, Katie Clements.

All three motorsport sponsorships will form a new look ‘Airwaves Pro’ campaign which aims to inspire and empower people to ‘KICK UP A GEAR’, and enable consumers to ‘live their dream’.

Airwaves® has been the title sponsors of the Airwaves Ducati British Superbike team since 2005, providing a high level association with the world’s premier national bike championship.

Former MotoGP rider Shane Byrne, who currently leads the BSB championship for Airwaves Ducati by 97 points, and his 21 year old team mate, Leon Camier, who lies in third place after a maiden BSB race win at Snetterton last month, will now take their place amongst the Airwaves Pro ranks.

They will be joined by Matthew Wilson, the leading British driver competing in the FIA World Rally Championship – a top three global motorsport with 15 rallies in 15 countries, attended by 8 million fans and an 815 million worldwide audience.

Katie Clements is currently the only female Team Principal in A1GP World Cup of motorsportTM. She led A1 Team GBR to a third place finish last season, with A1 Team GBR also the first A1GP to win on home soil.

Toby Baker, Wrigley Marketing Director, said:

“Airwaves is delighted to welcome Shane, Leon, Matthew and Katie as Airwaves Pros. We’re excited about the potential that they provide for the campaign, and we can’t wait to get started working with them.

“Motorsport is of a high interest to many of our consumers and has close brand values, so fits perfectly with our ‘KICK UP A GEAR’ brand vision. It’s also a diverse sport and we feel we have a great mix of Pros that will engage and excite our consumers.

“The Airwaves Pro campaign will be supported with high profile media partnerships and PR activity, to showcase the Airwaves Pros and also provide numerous enablement opportunities for consumers to ‘live their dream’.”

Generate Sponsorship, who negotiated the sponsorships, will manage all sponsorship and PR activity for Airwaves Pro.

Dave, Virgin Radio and Top Gear have all been secured as media partners to support the Airwaves Pro campaign – which will be managed by MediaCom.
