Truck Links Yamaha rider, Joe Dickinson earned four valuable points at Round 6 of the Fuchs-Silkolene British Supersport Championship at Mallory Park today (29th June). A heavy rain shower caused dramatic scenes on the grid as the race director declared the race wet, holding the riders on the grid for 10 minutes to allow wet tyres to be fitted.
Having made a flying start into eighth, Joe looked to improve on his eleventh place qualifying position. As the race progressed to a third of the way in a dryer line started to form and the full wet tyres started to go off. Joe lost his confidence in the wet front tyre and slowly started to slip back down the order to 12th to equal his season best place from Brands Hatch.
Round seven of the Fuchs-Silkolene British Supersport Championship takes place at Oulton Park in Cheshire (18th-20th July).
Joe Dickinson: "I got a really good start but as the track started to dry out a bit I lost the feel on the front a bit. I'm a bit frustrated with that as I was hoping for a really strong top ten finish and feel sure that had it stayed dry we would have been further up there."
Rob McElnea, Team Principal: "Joe wasn't confident when the tyres went off as it got dryer. I'd rather have him bring it home in 12th and bank a solid ride than push his luck when he's not happy with it."
